Unbelievable from Sam.

Was up 3-1 in the final set with the break, then loses serve to love, Korolev holds and Sam loses serve to love AGAIN.

:o Terrible form entering the AO.

So he's now playing under the Kazakh flag eh? Why are inferior Russian players (Golubev, Shvedova etc) pirated by Kazakhstan? While other very good non-Russians (Davydenko, Sharapova) are representing Russia.

Good win for Korolev also good preperation for Fish by playing Sam who has a very similar style (Big Serve), hopefully Evgeny can now reach the top 50 when the ranking come out on the 18th January.

I am not sure the use of the word "inferior" is right here.

Davydenko was born in Soviet Union but he moved to Russia (Samara? I am sure somewhere on Volga) before the USSR has been dissolved thus becoming Russian citizen even though he is an ethical Ukranien. Russia is multi-ethnical country. You know, like Sarkozy for example can't really be called a French, not to mention Obama whose father is from some country in Africa (not that I don't like that).

As to Maria Sharapova, she is ethnical Russian who was born again in Soviet Union and moved from Belorus to Tjumen Region in Siberia before 1993 as well. Her last name sounds Tatar to me, so maybe one of her grand-grand-grand fathers was a Tatar. Like Safin. Any problem with Russia having Safin under its flag?

What the poster meant was that Sharapova is as American as it gets.

I am sure she had an opportunity to ask for a US citizenship. The fact that she didn't means she is a Russian.

I believe she is Belorussian but that's beside the point. Can't Kazakhstan harbor decent players at least?

She has dual citizenship.
