Juan 6-3 6-0 :yeah:

He said he was most impressed with his serve, but the forehand was :worship: too.

They had this toy car race on court afterwards with some local kid, he lost and cheated :o

Damn, but on the positive side, possibly unlike Juan Carlos, an early loss at Auckland means that Juan will be coming to Melbourne safe and sound, and ready to go come Monday. If JC's out, then I'll be going to all Juan's matches for sure, provided I have tickets:)

Caio_Brasil

Playing Isner is always difficult, not to Pico's side this time.

Melbourne time!

First round with Gulbis

Rogers quarter which is chock-a-block with danger, and a possible third round meet with Kolya! The Draw gods, have been evil.

I am HATING this draw! Gulbis is unpredictable so it scares me and Davydenko I've put money on to win the whole thing :(

Haha I did take a close up of the legs :p

I did also get his coach to take a photo of us... but I am not so happy with it, partly because I have had a migraine all day and was feeling crap (I left as soon as I saw Pico) and also because I think I had it zoomed in too much.

Awww I am sorry you felt ill, migraines are horrible. Hope you feel better now . Maybe you'll get another chance to pose with Pico.

Well IMHO he was a bit of a flake, but he has kinda upped his commitment and now he is dangerous, still unpredictable but that makes him dangerous. Gumy has reigned him in a lot. And GM seem to be backing him, I don't know if that is a good or bad omen ;)

Either way I am not confident, but hopeful to the end :)

Aquarianbabe
01-16-2010, 02:06 AM
Gumy has indeed reign him in except for the indiscretion in Sweden, remember Gumy coached Willy in his early days and was successful. I don't think Gumy take make shit from his players. This is a dangerous match for Pico. If he gets to the third round it is all good.

I can only tell you about the first 1.5 sets (coz then I went to see JC), and Pico was fantastic. Need I say more. Oh, and I really can't stand Gulbis!

Peta Pan
01-19-2010, 12:04 PM
Well Pico was quite good, but Gulbis pretty much handed it to him on a plate with SO many unforced errors!!! Erratic Ernests turned up today which made me pretty happy :) 2nd set was tight and scary and then Gulbis pretty much capitulated in the 3rd set.

I can tell about the last 1.5 set, he did good!
As Peta I got a little scare when he was 5.3 in the second set and served for the set and Gulbis did the break, but then he played good and Gulbis was totally out after he lost the tie break

I have to say this out of jealousy, but somebody on this forum sent me a message (while I was watching WTA I might add, to add insult to injury) that she was at Arnold Ker's doubles match sitting right next to Pico! I want to hear all the details Peta!!!

Btw he's first match up tomorrow morning, and I'm so gonna be there (sacrificing Ferrer VS Baghdatis too:( I hate the schedule)

OH MY GOD! I think I nearly died.

He sits walks across in front of us and I'm telling my dad "it's Pico, it's Pico" and dad has no idea who Pico is so I said "It's Juan Monaco" and Pico looked at me :o Then he sat down almost in front of us and took his shirt off. Then at the next change of ends he moved up to the next row which was 2 seats away from me (with no one inbetween). Dad is asking me again what his last name is and I'm saying "Monaco... you know the country at the bottom of France that has Monte Carlo???"... again I can feel Pico looking at me :o I know he kept looking at me, he knew I was a fan, I just couldn't say a word to him because I was too damn shocked that he was sitting there :hearts:

Nice Pico, great that he stayed in the match.

I just hope he starts to close those sets without so many bad moments. He was broken twice when serving for the 3rd set and that has happened many times. In the clay swing where he really is dangerous he must close them. I'm happy with this win though, coming from 0-2 is total Pico.

Let's see what he can do against the best player of the moment.

Peta Pan
01-21-2010, 05:14 AM
You can't even imagine how nervous I was sitting through that match! I spent big amounts of the first 2 sets with my head down looking at my feet. Then the 3rd set? Serving for it twice? It nearly killed me!!!
.
Anyway. Don't expect him to beat Davydenko and I won't be able to watch it with a ground pass I'm sure but a 3rd round is great and I'm really glad I got to see these 2 matches :D

Ferrero Forever
01-21-2010, 08:21 AM
As Peta said, horribly nerveracking match to sit through. But it was great nevertheless, especially the smile he had when he won. And he bowed to the crowd, which I thought was really humble (especially compared to when I saw Baghdatis' victory routine a few minutes later which consisted of falling to the ground and banging his chest). And I should be able to get into the Davydenko match, so hopefully I can give you all a report

:Zaz:
01-22-2010, 06:05 PM
Were either of you sitting with/near the group of Argentinians that he bowed to? or were you on the other side??

Well looking forward to tonight, (perhaps 'looking forward', is a bad choice of words) - I hope it is at least competitive. Kolya is a demon at the mo. I'm a little http://lh3.ggpht.com/_OqkYZPU8YfU/S0UTE4QGr3I/AAAAAAAAAKc/ZZ5EvFpJ5V0/smiley-scared003.gif

Davydenko was like a machine. Pico just couldn't get anything past him
His reaction when he won his first game was adorable. Hands outstretched and looking to the sky. The crowd erupted and when they stopped
clapping he motioned for them to start clapping again

Thats pretty much it. Davydenko was the wall today.

And he bowed to both sides (the court only has seating on the long sides, not parallel to the baseline), so I think it was just his really humble crowd appreciation. I didn't think it was Argentine specific.
