Pretty average performance by Baghdatis, a little bit rusty, second set didn't play anywhere near his best but anything against Lindahl was good enough.

As for Nick, showed some talent but that brain explosion game at 5-5 in the 2nd was a complete joke. Australian tennis.

Good to see tradition of great Australian volleyers is being upheld by Lindahl. Laver, Rosewall, Rafter et al. would have been jealous of that piece of genius at 5-5 0-15 second set.

I'd go as far as saying that not only was that the worst volley attempt I've ever seen in my life but also the worst shot in general that I've ever seen. Took talent to pull off such a shot, we're on a winner here. :worship:

rusty, didn't like how he let Lindahl back into that 2nd set, he'll need to step it up against Troicki

Average performance or not, I really enjoyed b/c I missed Baghdatis, as well as Gasquet.:)

Yes we would hate for a young guy who plays on the challenger tour to be nervous at 5-5 on centre court in his hometown against Baghdatis (who is a big name in Australia) after losing the first set. The smash was awful at 5-5 0-15 but Lindahl did well to stay in the contest even if Baggy didn't match his first set effort.

:yeah:

My thoughts exactly. He showed some skills. Glad to see Baggy come out with the win.

Fair point and I can accept the volley but the last two points of that game screamed 'get me outta here ASAP'. Not what I like to see, a bit of fight would've been a nice way to end what was actually a pretty reasonable showing.

As far as I'm concerned, Lindahl continues to impress. Wouldn't be surprised to see him win a match at the Australian Open in 4 or 5 (draw permitting). Nice early second set performance, though he lost the last 12 consecutive points and that forehand volley was abysmal.

While Baghdatis was a little sloppy in patches, I think he'll continue his career revival.

Lindahl is only good compared to the current dire crop of sub top 100 Australian players. I can't really see him getting very far or winning a match at the AO unless he seriously improves his backhand.

Unfortunately I have seen way too many of those brain explosions similar to the one at 5-5 from challenger level Aussies when playing higher ranked players at the AO.

Good to see Marcos winning

Lindahl seems to be a ball basher with the forehand and a weak backhand.

Doesn't really have a gameplan IMO.

Horror match-up for Nick, who lacks variety from the back of the court. Expected stuff here.

what he do?

ran up to slam a forehand volley hitting his side of the net and bouncing into the net. Hard to explain i think you can't hit it if you tried :worship:

BTW i predict he will be another Luczak.
