Just qualified for the main draw of Auckland ATP with a three set win 6-2 4-6 6-3. Nice to see more aussie players playing and more importantly qualifying for ATP tournaments. Would be great to see James get a win here.

He is currently ranked 456 in the world which isn't overly impressive but with almost all his big results last year coming at the end of the year you would have to think he is a good chance to make waves in the first half of this year.

Good luck in the main draw James!

It was nice to see him have a run of successes in the US late last year in some good quality futures tournaments and now qualifying for an ATP Tournament. Also favours the clay.

He lost 6-1 7-5 to Albert Montanes. Not a bad effort in his first ever tour match and against the world number 31. The ATP site says he was a wild card which is frustrating because he earned his spot in the draw through qualifying.

I think hes the future of Aussie Tennis..he looks a lot like hewitt to me.

Have you seen him play, i watched live scores of his match in the final round of qualifying, also how old is he and how tall, but he looks pretty good. I've never heard of him before some good results in US future tournaments and a win which must of been a confidence booster.

Lost in the 2nd round of Burnie to Grega Zemlja 7-5 4-6 7-6 after being up a break in the third and having match points. Still a good start to year qualifying for Auckland and pushing Montanes in the 2nd set and also Zemlja is in good form coming off the back of a challenger final in Honolulu so still a pretty good result for James. Good luck in your next tournament.

After bowing out in the Quarters to Alexander Flock last week, James is staying on the clay in the Czech Republic and playing a 10k future in Most. In the first round he defeated the in form 16 year old Czech Robert Rumler 61 63. He now plays Marc Rath in the second round.

James is again playing a 10k clay futures tournament in the Czech Republic town of Jablonec Nad Nisou and won his first round against Adrian Sikora 63 61. He is seeded Number 1 but has Dennis Bloemke in his quarter who has been impressive of late.

jmf07
05-21-2010, 09:22 AM
James is into the Quarters where he will play German Jan-Lennard Struff. Struff managed to reverse his 61 63 loss to Bloemke last week to defeat him 46 76 61.

jmf07
05-22-2010, 02:44 AM
James loses in the QF stage again with 7-5 2-6 6-7(1) loss to Struff. Not that bad of a loss. Next tournament for James will most likely be a futures tournament in Slovenia.

jmf07
06-25-2010, 01:46 AM

James won the final 6-4 6-2. He'll move to around 330 in the world the week after next. Would be nice to see James crack the top 300 before US Open qualies list comes out so he may have a chance of getting in. Still needs another future win before that happens though. Good luck in this week in Germany again James.

The week after James is heading to a big future tournament in France where he looks like he will be seeded. Hopefully James can make a run there and this week so that he will crack the top 300 and start to play challengers reguarly.

James is playing a 15k clay future in the Dutch town of Middelburg. In the first round he beat 2009 French Open junior champion and former world number 1 junior Daniel Berta 75 63.

jmf07
09-02-2010, 03:07 AM
Won his second round against fellow Aussie Clint Thomson 75 76(4). He now plays Daniel Smethurst in the Quarters. Last time they played in March on the hardcourts in Great Britain, James won in three sets but the month before that on the clay in Spain Smethurst beat James in straight sets. Smethurst's recent form hasn't been that great though but in a sign thqat it could be on the improve he made the Quarters by defeating Mina in three sets.

jmf07
09-08-2010, 01:43 AM

09-14-2010, 01:49 PM
James is down 6-7 after a bizarre 1st set - first 7 games were breaks of serve. James served 7 DFs yet his 1st serve percentage is 74% - that means he only got 4 of 11 2nd serves in the court! (And he won those 4 points too!)

jmf07
09-29-2010, 12:54 AM
James is the second seed in a clay 10k future in the Italian town of Frascati. In the first round he beat world number 701 Filippo Leonardi 6-1 6-4. In the second round he plays Giacomo Oradini (1084). James will be reasonably confident of winning this match.

jmf07
10-01-2010, 12:59 AM
James won his second round match 6-2 6-2 and will now take on former top 100 player and eighth seed Razvan Sabau. Easily James' hardest match of the week so far and he will have to be playing well if he hopes to progress.

jmf07
10-02-2010, 12:03 AM

RustyOz
10-02-2010, 12:12 PM
That would have been a tough loss for James, after bagging the 1st set easily. Let's hope for a kind draw in the Challenger. Lemmers needs a few Challenger wins under his belt.

ozfan44
10-03-2010, 05:12 AM

Flavio CIPOLLA (ITA) vs James LEMKE (AUS)
Stefano GALVANI (ITA) vs Ivo MINAR (CZE)
[Q] Alessandro GIANNESSI (ITA) vs [5] Alessio DI MAURO (ITA)

James is back to the clay futures in America. Made the final last week and is now in the Quarters this week where the three other players remaining in his draw are all junior grand slam finalists. Important that he can continue winning matches and assure himself of entry into the Qualies of the Aus Open as with the depth of juniors and players like Gooch needing wildcards there is a chance he could miss out on a wildcard if he didn't make the cutoff

James ended up winning convincingly 6-2 6-0. Second futures title of the year and both have been on different surfaces which is impressive. Important next week that he puts in another good showing, a win in Bundaberg would see him jump inside the top 250 and make the cut for both Wimbledon and Roland Garros qualifying so a fair bit on the line for him next week. Still a few good results away from taking that next step to the challengers but definitely headed in the right direction and nothing spurs you on more than winning a title.

Another good win for James, 6-2 6-2 against Duckworth. Proppogia up next shouldn't give him too many problems but a potential semifinal against Ben Mitchell or Michael Look could definitely be a challenge. 04-08-2011, 09:52 AM
Lemke through to the semis now with a very convincing win against Propoggia, 6-1 6-0. Very impressive for James but his semifinal against Ben Mitchell will surely be tougher than his other matches this week. Streak up to 8 now with this win. If you look at the history of these events it predicts that at least one of the finalist in the first week will make the final in the second. Brydan Klein last year won both these events in consecutive weeks last year and Greg Jones the year before was a finalist followed by a winner in the second week. So history predicts James will at least make the final this week. Hopefully he goes back to back and brings his form into Euro challengers/futures.

If James is able to win this he'll be just behind Millman and Klein in the rankings and at 23 years of age now seems like he is coming into his own. I am a little bit worried about his frame though, he is only 5'9 but then again so is David Ferrer and Tommy Robredo so it is possible. The thing I would really like to see James do is step up to the challenger level and be just as consistent ie. quaters and semis most weeks. Unfortunately I think James will be just like Millman, Klein and Jones before him and just be a first or second round casualty in the challenger after working so hard to build his ranking in the aussie futures. I would love to be proven wrong though.

EDIT: If anyone is curious James is heading to France next week for a big future tournament there and looks like he'll sneak a seeding so it could be another successful week for him but in saying that I wouldn't be surprised if he pulled out of the tournament due to fatigue.

James into the final with a 6-2 2-6 6-2 win over Benny Mitchell. It is also a rematch of last weeks final with Chvojka tomorrow but after last weeks result I'm confident James will get over the line again. Streak up to 9 now. He has had a really strong start to the year and has very little points to defend in the coming months so I think he can really make a move if he continues this form overseas.

With the cost of tennis at Futures and Challenger level, especially Futures where you could potentially win the tournament and still not break even for the week, with travel, accommodation, stringing, equipment and coaching taken into acount (who can afford a coach) it is not surprising that players drop out.
Michael Look is also contemplating foregoing the game for greener pastures, and most probably is not the only other Aussie on the tour thinkin gthe same.
Prize money has been the same at Futures level for at least the last 8 years. Ridiculous.
Either you crack the top 100 quickly or it is a very hard road.
