With Rogie skipping the event, the final spot is open and has to be filled in the next 48 hours, so who will be the 8th player at Kooyong?

Andy Roddick?

Andy Murray?

Other? Please say who you think if other.

So Federer has officially declined the final spot?

I have tickets to the final so that pleases me not.

Federer was never going to reach the final anyway...

at the end of roddick's match last night the announcer said, as he was walking off court, that he was heading to kooyong.

Nadal I hope, yet it will never happen.

Murray needs it more than Roddick IMO.

It will do either of them good, I thought Roddick would want rest after a tough(ish) week in Brissy.

Several sources from Australia say Roddick's not playing, at least not playing the round robin event. He may do a one-off. But who knows how trustworthy that info is? I'd be surprised if he played the full event though.

I'm also reading that Murrays just looking for one match. So maybe they can get it on and the final spot can go to someone else :)

Apparently they were considering Ivan Ljubo ?

i think murray only wants one exho match and i doubt Roddick wants to play the round robin event after a long week at Brisbane so that leaves Ljubo for the final spot

I'd say so, on his twitter it said he was in Melbourne and doing AO prep so i don't think he'll be playing?

The organisers want Murray though.

Murray should take it, hopefully he will (because I'm going to the final).

On the news it showed Tsonga arriving at Melbourne airport so he should be ready for Kooyong and the AO.

What is Davydenko doing this week? From what I've heard, he loves money.

Looks like we wont find out until another 14 or so hours:

The players’ media conference will be held at Kooyong on Tuesday, January 12, at 11.00 am when the eighth player is expected to be announced.

My money's on Ljubo, they seem to love him there. If its not Ljubo I think Murray, coz I've heard heaps on the radio saying that Roddick won't be playing again till Aus Open
