Doha 1/4: Davydenko def Karlovic 7-6(4) 7-6(7)

In first set Davydenko was impressive until breaker, there Ivo had two times mini breaks but made only 1 of 5 first serves in . In second breaker made only 4 of 8 first serves in

Loss for the first set but Ivo continues his bad habit when he played few good matches without breaker he loses every time first breaker that he needs to play and also continues tragical tie break run started in the second part of last season .

Anyway good start of the year for Ivo. He must try keep it up this sort of form for longer time.

Tomorrow against Roger, Davydenko is favorite for me in this kind of form

Kolya played superb tennis, imo. In spite of the fact that the match was rather tense with the high speed Karlovic serves, Kolyia remained consistent as a machine. a couple of errors in the second set tiebreaker but he closed it out at the end.

Roger will definitely have to improve his game a lot if he wants to reach the final.

Since Wimbledone last year he won only 5 of 21 breakers .It's miracle how he beat somebody in that period

This Davydenko is probably fastest player on tour.

I don't mind what happens tomorrow between Fed and Kolya. Both of them are my favourite players and I think they're both capable of beating Nadal in the final. Perhaps it can even be said that Kolya has more chances against Parera than Federer.

Kolya is 4-4 vs. Parera and has won 3 of their last 4 encounters.

didn't watch this and aint sad about it. it is getting abit inevitable now ivo has the serve to get to the tie brekas, but lost his nerve to win them.

davy is on a roll, im picking him to beat fed again.

Davydenko is on course to beat Fed and Rafa on back to back tournaments... he plays really well

And about Ivo.. always the same story. Too bad on important points and poor tie-brakes,even he had chances

I don't wanna jinx Kolya but if he beats Fed, then I think odds will be in his favour against Parera in the eventual final.

Kolya is looking sharp and Roger is in shankerer mode again, so I think this could be a three set victory for the russian ;)

It isn't that simple. Remember Cincinnati ? Federer was coming from that awful lost against Tsonga in Montreal where he had a 5-1 lead in the 3 rd set. He played a poor match against hard court mug Acasuso in the 2 round and than barely survived Ferrer's chalenge in the 3 rd round, 3-6, 6-3, 6-4. (Federer was 3-1 in the first set but lost 5 game in a row, and was a break down in the 3 rd set). In the semifinal he had to face Montreal winner and the man who had 6-2 h-2-h advantage : Andrew Murrray. Evreyone thought Federer was going to lose, but what happened next ? JessusFed showed up. Beat Murray 6-2 7-6 and then went on to win the final against Djokovic 6-1 7-5. Nobody saw that coming.

Ivo's definitely struggling making serves in tie breakers. A couple of years ago when he was rising to #14 he was ice in the TBs and seemed to hit 100% 1st serves in TBs, the past years it's been all 2nd serves. If he can find his nerve again he could really rise b/c the rest of his game has really come along.
