Good match by Parera. He's playing a lot more aggresively. Too bad that Darcis wasn't at his best to make of the match a slightly interesting contest.

Killer draw for Rafa  Good play though.

Oh come on what else can one expect from a tournament with such a weak entry list, the 19th in the world was seeded 4th :o Rogi's draw isn't much harder.

Why did Darcis retire  was he injured

He said his back had been hurting for 4 days already when the umpire asked him if he wanted to see the trainer, I'm sure it had nothing to do with the beating he was taking.

:haha:

I find it hilarious that Darcis, who so nearly lost to Conor Niland in qualifying, was his opposition in the QF :rolls:

indeed. Interesting statistic brought up by the commentators, according to Hawkeye nadal's average groundstroke speed through the first 3 matches is 121 km/hr, as opposed to 111 during the year end finals. Pretty big difference...

You should lose all prize money if you retire. It's how they need to stop how common it's become.

Gulbis? What has he ever done besides winning 2 matches in a row :o Darsic at least has won an ATP title you know  and Troicki has given Rafi a very hard time at AO'08  Davy? Dr. Ivo? What was Rogi's h2h against those 2? Wasn't it something like 22-2?
Rogi is just crushing Gulbis as we speak :o

you are right, Nadal has such a tough draw, poor guy, if only he had Karlovic and Davydenko instead of this impossible draw.

oh wait...

Darcis le pussy.

What a nerd biggest loser in this tour who played with Nadal, Bolelli and Starace finished theirs games with honour, but Darcis in one second told umpire that he wanna to finish this game and grab fast something today it was his stomach to have cause of retirement. Pretty close stuff with Rochus playing here with Fedex but he finished it too like Italians.

5 years of ridiculously easy draws by Federer in Slams hasn't drawn as much scrutiny as Nadal's easy draw here at this Mickey-mouse tournament- I find that interesting....

It's because some Federer fans are (needlessly and kinda bitterly) insecure.

And because some posters live to complain about Nadal, it doesn't matter whether he's winning or losing.

hope that helps you.

It's a real shame that 20 years from now on the critics will forget about Fed's cake draws and Parera's extremely difficult ones and will only compare Fed's 15 GS to Parera's 6. Sad to say that today's subjective opinions will be forgotten.

Numbers and objective parameters won't tell the whole story...

Today the german commentator of Eurosport said Nadal doesn't need to become number one again as he already knows the feeling and that the most important thing for Nadal is to not have high expectations - what a bitch!

That Nadull reached #1 is the ultimate proof that this is a mug era.

Also, yes, he had a slightly easier draw than Fed here... but it's a clown tourney anyway so who cares.
