Berdy in superman mode. Hugely impressive.

What a wasted career.

01-06-2010, 10:55 AM
Marcos was pretty shit on serve, and Berdych was in one of those moods where he was whaling on the ball and barely missing - that's a really bad combination.

01-06-2010, 10:55 AM
Baggy was horrendous would have made anyone look good but Berdych was pretty impressive anyway.

amazing play from Berdych

01-06-2010, 10:56 AM
Berdych = Amazing!!!

Even said after in the on court interview, he's practised more on keeping focused, and he did that pretty well today :)

Actually I didn't think Baghdatis was that bad. Not serving well obviously but Berdych was just a machine.

Oh and :haha: At the Dunlop racquet bag, with the Head racquets inside :haha:

What a wasted career. He's only 24, no doubt he can change it, just look at Verdasco and Soderling...

01-06-2010, 10:59 AM
What a schooling! Baghdatis looked good the other day & I expected more of a fight than a whimper, but anyway. Berdych too good and showing some early season form. Hope he can keep it up.

He's only 24, no doubt he can change it, just look at Verdasco and Soderling...

True - he seems to have been around forever.

Verdasco is a lot quicker around court though, and was a relatively late developer - he didn't crack the top 20 till 2008 (aged 25). Not sure that's too useful a comparison.

Sod is obviously much more similar in style though, and he had his RG breakthrough a little before his 25th birthday. Berdy is 25 later this year, so all is possible .......... but can he find his Magnus? :-)

Interesting if he could, because there's potential for him to pick up points absolutely everywhere. Grass, indoors, fast hard (Tokyo last year), slow hard (Miami), clay (Monte Carlo 07 semis). With a brain, he'd be a cast iron certainty for the top8 again - the top5 are a class above, but he could easily fit into the Davy/Sod/Verdasco/Gonzo/Roddick/Tsonga tier just below.

Tomas has been great in practice all week, he his hitting so big and his shots are clean and consistent. He was impressive in his first round against Lindahl, but tonight was just amazing.

Anyone know the Winner to UE ratio in this match?

01-06-2010, 12:20 PM
Ouch, that really hurt! My prediction abilities are bad and getting worse.

Baghdatis has hit rock bottom, he should RETIRE right away instead of tormenting his fans like this.Being a zombie doesn't make you any better than being dead.As for the mental-headacase turned concentration-guru, CALENDAR YEAR GRAND SLAM awaits...

01-06-2010, 02:16 PM
good result for the game

Bilbo must be happy too

01-06-2010, 02:21 PM
could this finally be the year?

01-06-2010, 02:22 PM
Tomas Berdych: “Well, I was pretty happy with my game today. You could see I was playing good, I didn't make many unforced errors… (what he thought after the first set) Yeah I just needed one more to finish the set… I kept on being concentrated and I was playing good. Well definitly the key of my game is to stay focused on court as much as I can and today I was 100% during the complete match. My goal is to stay 100% concentrated and healthy during the season.”

He finally learns his lesson :worship: Career changing year this for Tomas :yeah: Now let's just hope his game picks up on clay, where it has noticeably got a lot worse year by year :o

it will be enough for us true fans that he keeps fighting even when dominated or in losing position
who cares for the slams unless you are a fanboy

Quite a beatdown.

Good to hear such a talent like Berdych concentrating on...concentrating

Promising result.

01-06-2010, 03:32 PM
Promising result for Berdych, but it would be typical if he loses now to Bellucci in straigts.

01-06-2010, 04:21 PM
Maybe Berdych can actually not choke vs a top player this time.

where's Bilbo?

01-06-2010, 08:14 PM
I'm sure Bilbo will pop in at one point to mention how this is a fluke.

01-06-2010, 08:23 PM
good display from berdych :)

01-06-2010, 09:55 PM
good match from Berdych, but let's see if he can finally start playing this way against top players :retard: he almost always seems to choke or not even show up against them :o :spit:

Baghdatis -well at least he beat Fish :yeah:

01-06-2010, 10:33 PM
berdych sent baggy packing not just off the court, but also to the bakery, ouch!!! poor baggy, served a bagel and breadstick for supper last night...

01-06-2010, 10:40 PM
ATP should force this Mugdatis to retire like they do in Sumo wrestling.
