Rafa played pretty well, Bolelli played okay for most part of the match but let's see where Nadal stands at the end of this week.

38 winners to 15 unforced error's for Nadal.
23 winners to 17 unforced error's for Bolelli.

Disagree actually. I think Bolelli was solid for the most part and really played a lot of good points. He was unable to deal with the upping of the ante by Nadal and in the end just got outclassed by a better player.

Nadal looked strong and aggressive, positive victory.

I agree, Bolelli played a very good match considering his form of late
he just couldnt deal when he was forced to play on his BH and of course his UE was weak as usual. He just should have tried to get the upper hand in the rallies more, that was the only chance today if any

When you consider how he cruises through to semis even in poor form, now regaining high level form makes the AO 1st week especially good fun to watch as he just gets better and better until he's too hard to stop by semi and final time....so inevitable

clay monster needs about 3 more matches for his preparation. he can slowly get better with each match at the australian open. a good draw may help his cause at the australian open. beating fed in the final here would obviously be great for him if it happens.

i am still not too sure of his chances at Oz. he first has to take care of business in his early rounds at Oz. he has to gun them down efficiently and that means straight sets before reaching quarters.

and then we will have a better idea of what he can do.

FO '08 final was far from the only serious beating of a great player in a slam final. Wimbledon 1984, McEnroe beat Connors 6-1,6-1,6-2. US Open 1974, Connors beat Rosewall 6-1,6-0,6-1. Wimbledon 1936, Perry beat Von Cramm 6-1,6-1,6-0. These things happen.

6-1 6-3 6-0 is definitely the biggest beatdown in history when you consider that Federer is supposed to be a great player, maybe a great player 'without fight' when the chips are down? Those 6-2 fifth sets v Rafito and Del Potro also indicate that he can be blown away by superior talent due to the lack of fight :(

True. Not lack of heart but so much heart as to step back on court and play through the pain of torn muscle fiber. Rafa is so valiant. To take such a crushing defeat with grace. To have a check on his emotions as not to ruin Del Potro's moment.

Good question. I don't know. Also in the 2nd set Fed was a break up and I think had break points for 5-2, so really it should have been 6-0,6-2,6-0.

6-1 6-3 6-0 is definitely the biggest beatdown in history when you consider that Federer is supposed to be a great player

Connors, Rosewall, & Von Cramm were great players too.
