@Kai (and @everyone, actually): which form of Spanish shall we speak here?? Neuter Spanish?? because you girls know, we argies speak a different kind of Spanish with different conjugations...what do you think we should do??

Sileithel
12-26-2009, 03:43 AM

@ amy you don't need to add the "a" (to) when you're using the unconjugated i think thats what its called form.

or the ar/er/ir form thing.

xohxmyx
12-26-2009, 03:58 AM
yeah my ability to write in spanish totally sucks:lol:

Sileithel
12-26-2009, 03:59 AM
I think it's because this "to" (to understand him better) is infinitive of purpose, and it's translated as "para" which expresses purpose ;)

Too much grammar I guess :p

xohxmyx
12-26-2009, 04:01 AM
omg yes you people have weird grammar and way to many verb-ending things...that and im kind of dumb makes it all the more confusing

Sileithel
12-26-2009, 04:02 AM
yeah my ability to write in spanish totally sucks:lol:

No no!! it was perfectly understandable even if not grammatically correct!! you did good! ;)

-ar / -er / -ir form is infinitivo...right Kai??

Here we can discuss your Spanish homework also, girls :p

Sileithel
12-26-2009, 04:05 AM
omg yes you people have weird grammar and way to many verb-ending things...that and im kind of dumb makes it all the more confusing

Yes, I agree w/u, conjugations SUCK!! :(
I suffer when I try to speak in Italian because I don't know the conjugations and I think...":shout: why isn't everything as easy as English?!? CAZZO!!"

...which is the only Italian word I can manage

kai.
12-26-2009, 04:06 AM
se -ar -er -ir es infinitivo :D

+ to=para ;)

kai.
12-26-2009, 04:08 AM
hey... i didnt had problems with the verbs  at school

is worst when you are trying to "interpret" a sentences.. and find the subject, verbe, noun, common noun, predicativo - subjuntivo :o

xohxmyx
12-26-2009, 04:12 AM
lol i really dont know how people can say english is the hardest language to learn

the whole masculine and feminine thing messes me up sometimes because we dont have it in english and there doesnt seem to be as much of a pattern as to what words are what:shrug:

i suppose like anything the more you practice the more you learn though!

Edit: the amount of words i spelt wrong just then you'd think english was my second language:o

theMEESH

Shit I can't remember my spanish at all hahaha.

Sileithel
12-26-2009, 04:21 AM
Haha, Amy, but we also use a kind of slang writing for the internet and text msgs...it's like a whole new language...We also write bad Spanish :P

kai.
12-26-2009, 04:31 AM
AMEN ..

and yeah the fem and masculine thing is so difficult...
Like now some people says El internet and others La internet :rolls: the same with computadora

xohxmyx
12-26-2009, 04:32 AM
i like learning the slang though i call my brother "boludo" all the time, he just looks at me funny. its funner that way to learn more casual stuff but then its not very good just learning how to talk in slang:p

theMEESH
12-26-2009, 04:32 AM
hey you know that's ten times better than having everything neutered....

thanks to Tagalog having no male/female anything... there is no "he or she" its all interchangable to me... So if someone asked where my brother is at.... i could very likely say... oh... she's ober der.

kai.
12-26-2009, 04:33 AM
say to your bro "pajero" or "gato" XD

theMEESH
12-26-2009, 04:34 AM
call him feo :p

Sileithel
12-26-2009, 04:36 AM
ah, yes, true...depends on the different kind of Spanish that you speak...
Los españoles dicen "el computador / ordenador "
Los argentinos "la computadora" xD

And I dont say neither "el internet" nor "la internet" but simply "internet"

kai.
12-26-2009, 04:37 AM

Sileithel
12-26-2009, 04:47 AM
Oh yeah!!! VESRE!!!!:rocker2:

"Vesre" is a way of speaking in "lunfardo"(=argie slang) which consists in mixing the syllables, like Kai said: pajero >> pa-je-ro >>> je-ro-pa >>> jeropa;)

We're teaching the girls bad words!!:o

:haha:

If sb asks you girls....you didnt learn it here!!

We laughed our asses off!! and he answered:

"Pajero es el que vende las pajas" (pajero is who sells straw) xDDDD

xohxmyx

it's actually quite similar to spanish ... not that set of sentences but yeah

if you look at Kumusta (how are you)

ku mus ta < how you say it... its sort of like someone trying to say como esta really fast and not too well.

and basura, la mesa, tinedor, cuchara (we spell different), baño, puta :p, puñeta :p :p coche, querida, the days of the week except for sunday. telling time.

meesh thats totally weird that a language doesnt have a word for bye...maybe the people who invented the language were just really lazy:shrug: and couldnt be bothered thinking of a new word.

i have a question its not really important but the way 'y' and 'll' is prononced in argie, is that the same for the rest of south america? because its different to european spanish which i like because that way is easier to pronounce right everytime:lol:

kai.
12-30-2009, 08:15 AM
No. The rest of sa pronunce the y and ll like spain
like we say pollo like Poyo and they poio
witch I found funny :rolls:

xohxmyx
12-30-2009, 09:58 AM
oh how interesting...i prefer the argie way of saying it. i dont know why it just sounds better lol its easier to remember the way there words/letters are suppose to sound. i use to have trouble pronouncing the 'y'.

Sileithel
12-30-2009, 12:37 PM
Yeah, because when we say "lluvia" or "pollo" or "yerba" we use that sound...it's not like a "sh" in "shine"...it's kinda a very weak sh...I suppose it must be difficult to pronounce for a non-native speaker.
In the rest of SA as Kai says they speak everything like an "i" :rolls:
When my Peruvian friend tries to imitate argies she says "sho", "shuvia", "posho" :haha:

there was two really cool argies sitting just up behind me in the blake match and one of them was a girl about my age and i could understand most of what she was saying to her mum about the match i know she said ¡Mamá! ¡Tengo miedo! because i remeber thinking 'yo también' except i didnt think it in spanish:p

But there's some people, as you Meesh say, who are really annoying. I mean, if you come to my country, don't you know we speak Spanish here? Yeah, our stereotype (at least among other Latin Americans) is quite bad too. They say we're think we're more, better than we are, and sadly many times this is true, but of course, not always.

@lau that seems to be the one negative thing i keep hearing over and over again about people form argentina, i've read heaps of time that alot of porteños act like there better then they really are, and that people in Buenos Aires look or are unfriendly.

but then i think that thats the saem in alot of places, like when i go to melbourne i think alot of people there look or act unfriendly but thats just because its such a big place and theres so many people around everywhere you just tend to become slightly self involved and pay more attention to where your going or what your doing instead of smiling at everyone and with that many people everywhere being friendly isnt always the best way to get what you want:lol: and thats only in melbourne theres heaps and heaps more people in BA so i can understand why they might be annoyed lol

 but off course we are better than the others :) :rolls: because since the independence from spain there was a horrible battle btw Buenos Aires and the other provinces to focus where the power should be, and if it was allowed to navigate/commerce thr the rivers.
So Buenos Aires "won", i say won because at the end they mostly did what buenos aires want.
So since then, the other provinces say that we think that we are better than them...

@Meesh no is right actually, the verb is Estar, but then it changes acording who.
Yo- Estoy
Tu/Vos- Estais/Estas
El- Esta

Nosotros- Estamos
Vosotros- Estais
Ellos- Estan

@Shega, Yes it means that :). Or you can write it like this... "Vas a ver que Delpo va a volver"

there a way to many 'V's in that sentence

one thing i have to say...spanish doesnt seem as hard and to me now as it did when i first started learning it:p but there still are so many things to remember sometimes is confusing...i think i could have a conversation with someone now in spanish i mean they'd have to talk really slowly and not use a bunch of words i didnt understand and it would probably be a really boring conversation:lol: but i could still do it (i think)

shega
04-06-2010, 10:40 AM
LOL about the "V"s.
Similarities happened to me, just when I thought I totally have it and I got involved in a conversation I kind of started slowing down trying to remember the word I'm trying to say. Resulting my co-talker would have to do the talking even for me - which was disturbing. Now I guess I'm cool, I have done a lot of spanish talk with ecuadorians :p

i get what your trying to say but the way you've worded it makes it sound confusing and not make sense, when your trying to translate it to another language. You cant get a direct translation of the sentence you said.
"why does it hurt to love someone that much makes sense" or just saying "it hurts to need someone so much" would be "le duele a necesitar tanto a alguien" in spanish..or something like that right kai?

why do you want to say those words in spanish?

no no, i can see david being the "man" of the relationship.
He'd be like the one who just wanted to stay home or maybe go out for a nice quite dinner, and Juanca would be the one who wanted to dragg david off to a party somewhere or go off to some out proud and loud gay bar with the princesses feli and nando!;)

I seriously wish you could see the story/pictures i've got going on in my head about this, its making me seriously lol!!

is the infinitive of duele... dolor?

and demasiado is bad right... oh wait... just looked it up... "too much" ?

The infinitive of duele is "doler" (TO hurt). Dolor is the noun (like pain ^^)

ferrero is gay?? cuz novio is boyfriend O.O

what's the difference when you use novio/a for fiancees and stuff...

i mean how can you tell the difference when you are speaking to someone... if you say

"Ésta es mí novio"

how will they know that he's "just" a BF, rather than a fiance. ... i wouldn't want someone to say congrats to me just for having a boyfriend. jajaja

kai.

Sileithel
05-07-2010, 01:36 AM
You can say: "estamos comprometidos" (we're engaged) but it's not that much used...you will say "mi novio" when you speak about him, but if you really want sth to understand the difference, you can say comprometidos. Stupid example here:

- Tengo que ir de compras con mi novio.
- Ah, qué bien. Cuánto tiempo llevan?
- Dos años...Estamos comprometidos (shows ring xD)

LOL that was kinda stupid...but was it clear? It's not that frequent though

Ella está LOCA! Ella robó una foto de una chica y "photoshopped" su rostro encima del rostro de la chica. SMH. Y siempre hablar con la hermana de Juanca como están amigas mejores or something like that.

Tagalog
Nakakagalit ako sa itong babae! Bakit kailangan mo mag salita sa lahat parang talagang kaibigan kayo. Alam kong iba at luko-luko ako, pero hindi ko nakawan ng litratros ng ibang tao at hindi ko lagay ang aking mukha sa litrato nila.

It's true :)
We have a language called LUNFARDO http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lunfardo
And other mini languages like tumbero :o and province's accents.

Examples

[edit]Nouns
buchón - snitch, informer to the law (from the French bouillon)
chochamu - young man (vesre for muchacho)
fiaca - laziness, or lazy person (from the Italian fiacco "weak")
gomías - friends (vesre for amigos)
gurí - boy (from Guaraní) Feminine: gurisa "girl". Plural: gurises "kids"
guita - money
lorca - hot, as in the weather (vesre for calor "heat")
mina - (African origin, a common word for woman)
percanta - a young woman
pibe[4] - like "kid", a common term for boy or, in more recent times, for young man
quilombo - racket, ruckus, disorder, mess (from the Kimbundu word kilombo).
[edit]Verbs
cerebrar - to think something up (from cerebro, "brain")
engrupir - to fool someone (origin unknown, but also used in modern European and Brazilian Portuguese slang)
garpar - to pay with money (vesre for pagar "to pay")
junar - to look to / to know (from Caló junar "to hear")
laburar - to work (from Italian lavorare "to work")
manyar - to know / to eat (from the Italian mangiare "to eat")
morfar - to eat (from French argot morfer "to eat")
pescar - to know (vesre from the Italian capisce "do you understand?")
[edit]Modern slang

Since the 1970s, it is a matter of debate whether newer additions to the slang of Buenos Aires qualify as lunfardo. Traditionalists argue that lunfardo must have a link to the argot of the old underworld, to tango lyrics, or to racetrack slang. Others maintain that the colloquial language of Buenos Aires is lunfardo by definition.
Some examples of modern talk:
Gomas (lit. tires) - woman's breasts
Maza (lit. mace or sledgehammer) - superb
Curtir (lit. to tan) - to be involved in
Curtir fierros can mean "to be into car mechanics" or "to be into firearms"[notes 1]
Zafar - to barely get by[notes 2]
Trucho - counterfeit, fake[notes 3]
Many new terms had spread from specific areas of the dynamic Buenos Aires cultural scene: invented by screenwriters, used around the arts-and-crafts fair in Plaza Francia, culled from the vocabulary of psychoanalysis, or created by the lyricists of cumbia villera.
A rarer feature of Porteño speech that can make it completely unintelligible is the random addition of suffixes with no particular meaning, usually making common words sound reminiscent of Italian surnames. These endings include -etti, -elli eli, -oni, -eni, -anga, -ango, -enga, -engue, -engo, -ingui, -ongo, -usi, -ula, -usa, -eta, among others.

Ah it's totally different, how about simple words like congratulations and talking about playing a good match?

I wanted to say:

Does that still make sense? ;)
