Gonzalez, Monaco and the 6th player (most likely Nalbandian) are "Sudamericanos".

Safin will wave goodbye to his South American fans with an emotional farewell.

Baghdatis sprinted in as soon as Eduardo Infantino opened the doors (Marcos will finalise his preparations for the 2010 season training for 3 weeks in Argentina; that's scheduled for the coming month).

As for Moya, he may be semi-retired but he has taken part in four Copas (its inaugural edition included) until now.

Gastón Gaudio will replace Marat Safin.

I saw 15-20 minutes of Monaco vs Feña match and it was pretty acceptable level, surprising coming from Monaco. considering the result today I think he will play the final vs David on Sunday :)

Gus, how was the level of play of Moya? This was his first match in ages, very good that he won, albeit against Gaudio on hard. But nonetheless.

Well Monaco is the defending champ so it would be nice if he could defend his title and win another car.

Moya and nalby should be interesting as both are coming back from hip surgery.

Moya was not bad, not excellent though. I think he hit only one flat backhand in the whole match :spit:

Slight loss of concentration by Bandy in 2nd set but recovered it well.

Also played some nice classic exho style points in the 2nd to keep the crowd entertained.

He's played pretty awful opposition so far, and dispatched them easily, will be interesting to see him go up against a top 50 player.

As for Moya, I dont think he's going to have a good comeback.

David beat Baghdatis 6-4 6-4 in the final. After a very patchy opening set with both players committing DFs and foot faults, David upped his game in the 2nd set with some excellent ball striking and rasping forehand winners. Marcos was very erratic but playing two matches in fairly quick succession in these conditions is a tough ask for anyone.
David has got 5 exho matches under his belt in a short space of time, and all-in-all the signs have very been positive, especially with his forehand. Roll on 2010 and his return to tour level action.

Baghdatis looked very happy with the organization and told he wants to comeback to win this Copa in 2010 :lol:


David is the 1st player to win this Copa 3 times (2005,2007,2009) and as a cars enthusiastic he is, received a Peugeot 308 Cabriolet Coupé for his victory... :)

Good stuff, glad Nalbandian has been able to play without pain and Marcos had fun in Argentina.

Nalbandian played really well on this tournaments. And inspite I think it`s not going to be so easy to be a competitive player again he seemed to be fit enough and his strokes flighted well.
I was impressed by the game showed by Baghdatis. I think he is definitely shift enough to do it well in Australia.
