God what a fantasy, wouldn't I love to be in Beijing right now. Instead of teaching a bunch of lawyers the use of much/many.

What´s going on with him???

I think he needs some real support from his best fans again ;)
So maybe if you chicas would have gone to Bejing, it would have been better...

Eighth seed David Ferrer, who is also hoping to qualify for the Barclays ATP World Tour Finals at London in November, passed a potentially tricky test against Denis Istomin of Uzbekistan 6-4, 6-1 in just 64 minutes.

Ferrer won 81 per cent of service points to move to within one victory of 50 tour-level match wins this year. Last week at the Malaysian Open, Kuala Lumpur 2010, he advanced to the semi-finals beating World No. 7 Tomas Berdych in the quarter-finals before falling to Andrey Golubev.

David bt the Toad :speakles: next up is Ljubicic :)

Ljubicic next will face David Ferrer, who stepped up his bid to qualify for the Barclays ATP World Tour Finals with a 6-2, 6-4 victory over fellow contender Robin Soderling. The Spaniard began the Asian swing in fine form last week with a semi-final showing in Kuala Lumpur (l. to Golubev) and started the week at No. 9 in the year-to-date South African Airways 2010 ATP Rankings. He is hoping to qualify for the season finale for the first time since 2007, when he reached the final (l. to Federer).

The eighth-seeded Ferrer went into the clash with Soderling having only beaten the Swede in two of their previous nine meetings, but made an emphatic start, breaking serve in the third and seventh games to clinch a one-set lead in 26 minutes. The Spaniard then rallied from a 1-3 deficit in the second set to win five of the next six games and seal victory.

Second on Lotus Court is No. 8 seed David Ferrer against Ivan Ljubicic, a head-to-head Ferrer dominates, 5-1, losing their first meeting way back in 2003 before winning five in a row - and 10 of 11 sets in those five matches. However the only time since 2003 Ljubicic has taken a set off Ferrer was in their only previous hardcourt meeting, and while Ferrer has a losing record in semi-finals this year (3-6), Ljubicic did win his only previous semi this year (at Indian Wells). In the quarter-finals, Ljubicic upset No. 2 seed Andy Murray while Ferrer upset No. 3 seed Robin Soderling.

Interesting: ATP site has him down as #10 this week as of today, Monday.

I think he needed to conserve energy in that final with Djoko and just as well it didn't go 3 sets. Dj has a bye and Ferrer has to play a first rounder against Llodra!! That is a very tough first round drawwith not alot of rest!!! Nando is out but he wasn't defending much. None of Ferru's other rivals for a berth in the tour finals (Youzhny, Roddick, and Berdych) have very much to defend at Shanghai. :(

Fingers crossed for David here. He deserves a spot.
