A little challenger current event:D

Adrian Ungur had his comin gout party last week in Todi. He deafeated Andujar and Lorenzi EASILY, and later would lose to an unstoppable Greul 62 16 67(8).

This week, he again tore through the draw, his only stumble in the semis.

So how long will he keep this up?? Can he reach the top 100 or is he just having a good run?

Yeah. His record didn't look to impressive until Todi.

Adrian Ungur reached rank 160 in july 2008, with a victory in Sofia and a final in Constanta lost to Devilder after a MP. Afterwards he started to lose all matches until september when he stopped playing and later had an elbow surgery. Then again he had a slow start of the season, dropping below 500 in the rankings after losing the points from 2008.

However, these bad results can be attributed mainly to his physicall conditions, as now when he is at full he registered, in his last 3 tournaments, a semifinal, a final and a victory!

We consider him as a definite candidate for a position in top 100, the only problem that may stop him from reaching these heights being some "mentality issues" (when he starts playing bad he starts pushing his shots and eventually ends up "beating himself" even against weaker players)

I watched him play many times and really appreciate his classical all court tennis style.
He has a fine backhand and fast and punching forehand, and last but non least he is quite good at the net.
IMAO he is far better than the actual romanian top 100 Crivoi.
He seems physically weak and probably mentally too, but all the last struggled matches could change something in his mind.

I really believe he can do it in the top 100!

Bravo Adrian! :worship:

Top 100, I am not sure. Adrian is a really good player on clay, but I think he hasn't done anything on other surfaces. He definitely has the potential to have a few good runs at ATP events though, but I don't have that high hopes for him. Hopefully, if he stays fit, he can definitely climb up the rankings next year.

He beats Luczak 57 62 63. When will this guy stop having consistent big wins like this??

He has a new coach: Fabrizio Fanucci (Volandri's coach too)
