Oh, I saw a bit of Parr, another of the matches I never thought would end. I was quite bored by the end of that one, to be honest. I thought Gard would win it. I didn't see the whole thing, I got there about 1:30. I have 2 questions guys for you today:

1. Can Witten win against Middelkoop, after the American had 2 very poor displays in the last 2 challengers?
2. Bet365 will not have score for Witten-Middelkoop, only for Russell, cna somebody please post the score here? A local maybe with a notebook there?

Thank you!

Nathaliia
11-03-2009, 05:28 PM
The only "local" is Bobo from the Czech Republic who was calling the office last night

Witten was true shit in the last 2 weeks indeed. Difficult to touch such an unreliable player but he can do much more than that so overall of course he has a chance against Middelkoop who isn't a tennis god either.

smitty8
11-03-2009, 06:50 PM
The scoreboard inside wasn't even right half the time and you could only hear the ump if you were near the speaker behind the court, so it was hard to hear. I also couldn't pick up a signal inside the building or I would've sent some scores. If I go again, I'll write down the scores and see if I can get out and find a signal.

I guess Parr's intensity was better the third set than the second, I wasn't paying a whole lot of attention to it. I overheard someone say it was his birthday, so I guess he wanted to win. You'd have to ask him. I really thought Gard was going to win the breaker, he had his chances and was ticked off when he lost that set.

I'm not there today, I have a lot of stuff I need to get done at home and errands to run. I also need to get my car looked at, it's not acting right. I don't want to start driving there and break down, it's a 2 hour drive to get there.

Smityy8 can you say something more for Grigor's match vs Yani?

Yeah, Dimitrov kept getting a break and then giving it right back, I think that happened in all the sets. He was yelling at himself but it wasn't in English, so I have no idea what he was yelling. Yani was also talking to himself, especially near the end, that's when I knew he'd lost it. Yani really could've taken this away if he'd kept it up at the end. Yani played very well in the second set, as you can tell from the 6-1 score. The tiebreak was all Dimitrov and all he needed to win.

I'm going to try to go tomorrow. Might not get there for the first doubles match.

Hi to all!

Does someone know something about Inglot? He is a good NCAA player but I did not understand if Bozo had some physical problems against him.

Bozo normally retires when having some problems and he did not retire against Inglot.

Any news about the indian Singh? Did someone see him or Inglot playing?

I will not be surprised of a Somdev debacle against Van der Merwe, he is in a very poor form.

I haven't had time to start! Maybe I should say I might get it done by Sunday. I'm trying to multitask and that's not working out too well right now. I have a very long To Do list and have only done one thing on it so far this week.

I wonder if Dimitrov is going to play in the doubles today. He fell and hurt his hand a little last night, had some tape on the fingers and ice during changeovers. He's a trooper, he shook it off and kept on going.

Some impressions from the tournament, it is at a very nice private club/hotel outside of the town.

Kim - Delgado : Delgado was very aggressive in first set, nailing winners, then misfiring too much in second and third. Kim had a very funny looking stance as he hit his backhand, kind of hunched over like a vulture.

Emmrich/Slijestrom - Battistone/Battistone : Siljestrom looks like Dirk Nowitski, very tall guy. Very stiff service motion, but he gets a ton of speed on it. Emmrich is a lefty with some big pop on his serve as well, better returns of the pair, but missed some easier volleys. The one Battistone's serve, where he jumps in the air, is fascinating to watch. First set ended with the Swede crushing a forehand return winner down the line. I don't think the two handled racquets really help a whole lot but are interesting. The Euro pair could have a decent future together as a doubles team, good teamwork.

Inglot/Rizza - Dimitrov/Prpic

Both Rizza and Prpic seem very short. Not sure if something was wrong with Dimitrov, but he was serving very slowly and not very effective, although he did hit some nice return winners. Prpic was terrible at the net. Inglot played the best of the four, good aggressive plays, nice volleying. Saw Peter Lundgren there talking to a bunch of people.

Middelkoop-Harrison - Only saw the first set of this. Middelkoop hit the ball hard but was missing everything badly. Harrison had a nice game, big serve and came in and was aggressive on some plays. Not sure what happened in the next two sets to turn it around.

Singh-Jenkins - Came back near the end of the second set. Jenkins had won the first set easily, Singh was up 5-2 but got broken when serving for the set, Jenkins came back to get it to a tiebreak but made some bad plays, Singh won the tiebreak easily, went on to win a tight third set. Jenkins very mad at himself, hit racquet against the wall a lot. A lot of fans cheering for Singh, a UVA player. He is a good fighter, has a game similar to Devvarman.

Anderson/Young - Paul/Parr. Paul/Parr are an interesting team - two lefties, played most of the receiving games in two back formation. Anderson and Young actually make a good combination - Anderson serving very well, Young showed some very nice touch and good volleying. Had to leave after this match, didnt get to see the last match, but a nice day at this tournament.

any update on Young-Inglot?

It is 3-2 Young first set, on serve. Inglot broke Young to go up 2-1 but was broken right back. Then Young held.

Watching it live on www.frontrowtennis.com. It has a 5 minute "free view" when you register so you can see how good the quality of stream is...

Jenkins had won the first set easily, Singh was up 5-2 but got broken when serving for the match, Jenkins came back to get it to a tiebreak but made some bad plays, Singh won the tiebreak easily, went on to win a tight third set.

In my opinion, Sweeting will win it if he plays his best. He has the biggest game of all of these guys... he's at least 6 ft 4 inches, big serve, and can dominate if he gets on a roll. His results will keep getting better if he keeps his emotions under control...he has all the physical tools.
