2 MD WC for unknown chinese players Zeng Shaoxuan # 442 and Gong Maoxin #481

BEIJING -- China's top two tennis players have been handed the chance to mix it up with the best players in the world, and for a bumper payday, after being awarded wild cards in the main draw for the inaugural Shanghai Masters.
Zeng Shaoxuan, the world No. 442, and Gong Maoxin, ranked 481, will have their chance to take on the likes of Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal at Asia's only Masters tournament from Oct. 10-18.
China's men have lagged behind the development of their women, three of whom are ranked in the world top 50, and this presents a rare opportunity for Zeng and Gong to move into the spotlight.
"I will play with an attitude of learning," Zeng told Wednesday's Titan Sports. "But I also hope I can play my best tennis. And, of course, even if I am eliminated in the first round I will take home $10,000."
That would almost match the 28-year-old's entire winnings for the year so far and be more than a 10th of his combined winnings over his seven-year career.
"This is an opportunity given by the China Tennis Association so I will give them some of my prize money," Zeng added.
The $5.25 million event is expected to attract the top 45 players in the world, many of whom are already familiar with the Qizhong tennis complex as it played host to the ATP's season-ending Masters Cup from 2005 to 2008.
This year marks the start of a new era for Chinese tennis tournaments.
In early October, Beijing's Olympic tennis center is hosting one of the WTA's $4.5 million "crown jewel" events at the China Open, which also incorporates a $3.37 million ATP tournament with Nadal and Novak Djokovic slated to appear.

Ljubicic with his chinese sponsor has also big chances imo.

There is one SE !!!

ATP Rulebook 7.10 Special Exempts (SE)

...
a) A qualified event for special exempt to a ATP World Tour Masters 1000 tournament
is the singles event of another ATP World Tour Masters 1000 or ATP World
Tour 500 tournament.

Players who are still playing singles in Beijing or Tokyo on Saturday (& are not already entered in another tournament) are eligible for the SE spot in Shanghai.

Indoor.

Ad Wim

No, it's not totally indoor, it's both. It has a retractable roof, just like in Tokyo. So with good weather, it's outdoor.
