Well, his early rounds don't look too bad. Ljubo 1R isn't great since they're good friends but he should win that. Then plays a qualifier. Biggest threat in 3R would be Andreev. Possible Kohli in 4R or Stepanek. At least Haas, Roddick, Verdasco, even big serve Isner are in the bottom of the quarter so he'd only have to play one of them.

Definitely not the draw any of us wanted but he should (needs to) make the quarters at least.

Agree!

Not a cakewalk draw but not the worst possible draw. If Nole wants to win another slam, he has to overcome players like Roddick, Murray, Nadal, Federer, etc. Anyway, it's kind of like last year, Roddick in QF and Federer in SF. Let's hope he's better than last year. ;)

And I think he has a higher chance beating Federer than Murray this year. So I'm glad he's still on Federer's side.

New Haven SFs have all been played indoors due to bad weather.

I read on USO site that the ground activities for Kid's Day were canceled but the event in Ashe was still scheduled to go on. The site doesn't have anything about it being canceled. It should be almost over actually.

EDIT: There are a few pics up of the event in a couple places so it did take place. No Nole ones though.

Same guy sitting around, asking the same question? Excuse and cop-out? Yes, I don't think its the smartest thing to say in competition, but Nole's never been one to bite on his words  This guy however is just pulling it all in the wrong direction. :silly:

Q. Novak made these comments last week he felt he was born at the wrong year or wrong time because of Roger's and Rafa's dominance. Just curious about your thoughts to that. Do you relate to that at all or do you think he was making an excuse?
ANDY RODDICK: No, I'm not really going to talk about what he feels because I feel like he'd probably be the best one for that, but you play the hand you're dealt. I don't think at any point that I sit around and feel sorry for myself. I feel pretty fortunate. Obviously titles would probably be a little bit easier but there have been great champions that you have to go through every era in tennis.

Q. About a week ago Djokovic made these comments about how he thought he was born at the wrong time or born in the wrong era because of Roger and Rafa. Is that something you think he's just kind of telling it how it is or sort of a cop out or what are your thoughts on that?
ANDY MURRAY: Well, I view Roger and Rafa as the two best rivals ever. I'm sure by the time they finish you'll have the most Slams between any two rivals maybe by quite a long way, so they're obviously two of the best ever. Pretty tough to play with those sort of guys, but at the same time it's also, in a lot of ways, I think you sort of raise your game to the competition that you play against. And you know, playing against those sort of guys, you know, when I was younger, I realized that I needed to get a lot better and work physically, and I think the game has sort of gone maybe in the last four or five years to another level physically.
You know, I don't feel like I was unfortunate to be born in this era. I think it's a great thing to play alongside those two.

This is so annoying,Nole's words were pulled way out of context,it makes him sound like a wuss who just sits around feeling sorry for himself .The reporter last week, asked him why he had been in four masters finals but hadn't won one yet and he just said that he had lost to very good players each time and then just joked "Maybe it's cos i was born in the wrong era",it said that he laughed after saying it,so he clearly wasn't being serious.I've heard Nole say the very same thing as Murray with regards to the likes of Fed and Rafa motivating you to improve yourself all the time. But this journalist twisted it completely making it sound like Nole has no competitive spirit and it's only going to lose him respect from the other players.

I believe none of these reporters watched that interview. First time I heard about this was from Fowler, Cahill and Gilbert during a tennis match. Then I saw the interview and from Nole's tone, he's kind of joking but also with tone of resignation in it too.

For Nole, it's better for him to resign to the fact that most of the commentators, journalists, etc DON'T LIKE HIM. They are going to twist and pick every words of him out of context. So, he better just give them certain finger and to hell with them and be himself.

Missed seeing Novak at AA Kids' Day yesterday. Rafa didn't show up either. I hope this means Novak's hunkering down and getting as much mental preparation as he'll need to survive Ljooby in the first round, as well as dealing with the shit-stirring media.

Speaking of, the media's bugging me already. I knew they wouldn't be able to resist trying to stir up trouble between AndyR and Novak. :explode: Will they be able to report on Novak's matches without mentioning last year's incident? I'm not holding my breath. :o

Anyway good luck to Novak, make a statement and destroy Ljubicic. Smile and enjoy yourself, circa 2007, and the crowd will be yours again.
