You know, I almost feel bad for Greg.

After those comments, then Pete ending up winning it all - he's like a bad joke :o

Of the 809843242 people who thought this, he had the balls (bad manners ;)) to say it to the international media.

And looks what happens :o

from BBC sportstalk

"Congratulations to Pete Sampras. At last a British tennis player has finally had an influence on a Grand Slam. Well done Mr Rusedski" !
Ajay, UK

LMAO but so true

If you saw Greg Rusedski this weekend, the chances are he was in disguise.

The British number two had all but written Pete Sampras' sporting obituary when the American dumped him out of this year's US Open.

"He's a step and a half slow coming to the net," declared Rusedski.

"He's a great player from the past. You're used to seeing Pete Sampras, 13-time Grand Slam champion. It's not the same player here."

Well at least he got one prediction right - Pete Sampras is now the 14-time Grand Slam champion courtesy of his victory over fellow-veteran Andre Agassi.

Exactly, that's a bit easy now to laugh at him when every media members and fans have said at one point or another this year that Pete was washed up.

He's sort of being used as a scapegoat.

But he did bring it upon himself for being unsportsman like.

Greg needs to go buy some new socks and then shut up for a while :)

09-10-2002, 02:22 AM
hahaha, silly Greg, what a jerk and a fool, foolish man, sampras doesn't need to be quick to beat you, hahhaa, if sampras is old,you gonna join him soon, you are also 29 :D:D

I'd be ashamed to step onto a tennis court again, if I was Greg. Better shut up and get working, Greg! Time's running out ;)

09-10-2002, 06:07 AM
yes i don't know that he is so old as well 29, just two years younger than pete but pete had already won 14 grand slams while greg none :D:D and i don't think he will ever win one, not too possible ;):D

better mind your own issues, Mr Rusedki :D

I loved Sampras' comeback when Rusedski said he was a step and half slow. Responded Sampras: "I didn't need an extra step and a half to beat Greg Rusedski."

09-10-2002, 01:09 PM
that was a very good response from Pete ;) :D

09-10-2002, 05:27 PM
Loved the response from Pete!!!

He's sooo Great!!

GREG pfffffff.....Although he's only been British a few years he has certainly adopted the role of 'British Loser' very well!

09-11-2002, 01:36 AM
pete is so smart :D, he does not only rule in the tennis court, he also rule in the "best mouth" department, long live pete :D:D

Greg looks like a fool in compared with him :D:D

Pete did so well to win, but as Rebecca said Greg was the only one with the bottle to say what everyone thought. I watched the match between Pete and Greg, and the fact is Greg should have won that match, he was the one with all the opportunities but didn't take them, it was from then on that Pete became the player he was for the rest of the tournament.
What you also have to remember is that Greg made that comment after just losing a tough 5 set match, when had he won it, he would have had a real chance to go a long way. Players often make stupid statements after a tough loss.

09-11-2002, 02:50 PM
I think its in really bad taste if a player puts someone down just after losing to them! Greg got what he deserved. Its ok for media people to do it because its their job to comment and speculate on the sport, but Greg just made that comment unprovoked. I loved Pete's response too!
