Report - Day 1- Qaulifications

Match 1: Ernest Gulbis def Lukas Dlouhy 6-1 6-2

http://i706.photobucket.com/albums/ww70/marcotennis/Gulbis-1.png

Very one-sided match, mostly because of Dlouhy's multiple double-faults. Dlouhy proved once again he was only a doubles player. In most of the rallies, he was being overpowered and overhitted. He had a lot of difficulties covering the whole court. His net game is amazing though, despite being short he just gets it! He knows were the opponent is going to hit, how and when. Unfortunately, that has proven not to be enough agianst most singles players. This 58 minutes match was definitely not a highlight of my day :o

Report - Day 1 - Qualifications

Match 2: Josselin Ouanna def Vincent Millot 6-7 7-6 (13) 6-0

http://i706.photobucket.com/albums/ww70/marcotennis/Ouanna-1.png

This match was honestly amazing. Surely the highlight of my ''Matinee''. Honestly'' I caught it from 4-1 Millot in the second. At this point I thought this match was over, but I was desperate to get a few photos in. So I sat down and started. So action starts at 4-1, Ouanna serving. The game started very badly and everything looked toward a Millot win 7-6 6-1, but Jousselin hung tough and made it 4-2. Then Millot sort of choked after leading 40-15 in his service game and next thing I knew: we were back on serve! From then on both players traded breaks of serve until the Tiebreaker. These breaks of serve were highlighted by few Set Points for Ouanna and a few Match Points for Millot. But the Tiebreaker was clearly Hot Stuff! Millot took a 3-0 advantage, Josselin grabbed a few points here and there to closen the gap. After 7 Set Points and 2 Match Points, Ouanna had stolen the second set 15-13, on ad Double-Fault . In third set, Millot looked destroyed and tanked, thankfully for spectators who were burning under the Montreal Sun.

Report - Day 1 - Qualifications

Match of the Day: Milos Raonic def Teimuraz Gabashvili 6-7 6-2 7-5 :bounce:

http://i706.photobucket.com/albums/ww70/marcotennis/Raonic.png

WOW! Who could have expected that! I mean Raonic is like 691th in the wold and Gabashvili like 95th . First of all no need to say, this was Raonic's best carreer performance. He was clearly just the BEST out there. Hitting winners from the back of the court, at net, with his serve. He's a very solid player and from what I've seen, this guys has Top 50 potential, but will he be a Canadian Flop like Dancevic? Anyways, the points his to underline that amazing performance. After suffering a harsh first set loss, where Raonic played great, most players give up and second set becomes a Slop. But Raonic did not see it that way, he really wanted to honor the WC he was given adn guess what, he did! For the first time ever, I saw the Court Banque Nationale fully loaded (Centre Court was near empty :retard: ). On set point at 5-2 Raonic came up with a great forehand and Gabashvili netted the backhand :yeah:. Lets go to a third set. At one point in the decisive set, Raonic got the break, he was leading 4-2, obviously nervous, he gave away his next service game and players were tied at 5-5. Raonic made then quick work of his service game, which led to Teimuraz' service game. The Tiebreaker appeared evident. With a 40-0 advance, Gabashvilli needed only one more point to make it. But a DF, a winner from Raonic and a backhand mistake from Gabashvili later, the score was 40-40. Continuing this streak. Gabashvili sends a backhand in the alley on match point, giving Raonic a shot at Llodra. :D

Report - Day 2 - Qualification

Match 1: Jesse Levine def Andrey Golubev 7-5 3-6 6-2

http://i706.photobucket.com/albums/ww70/marcotennis/Levine1.png

That was some hot tennis. Honestly the highest quality match of the day, but not the most exciting indeed. I caught the action at 5-5 first set. For the first part of the moring I was waiting for Djokovic to come practice. How ridiculous? He decided to practice 2 hours later, so I basically waisted my time, but thats not the point of the convo. 5-5, Golubev serving. Levine gets ahead 0-40 in that game. Looks like no tiebreaker will decide of that one, but Golubev is back to deuce a few minutes later. So DEUCE. The umpire makes a correction and calls Golubev's serve OUT. To me it did appear IN! :p Golubev gets ''crazy'' and loses concentration. Levine takes advantage of it. He wins the 1st set 7-5. In the second set, Golubev starts using a particular pattern, Levine is out of ressources and loses the second 6-3. In the third set, for unknown reasons, Golubev decides to come back to his first set patterns and commits even more mistake. Levine he's hitting some Wimby Stuff and steals the Match: 7-5 3-6 6-2! :woohoo:

Match 2: Juan Carlos Ferrero vs Ivan Dodig 6-4 0-1 ret.

http://i706.photobucket.com/albums/ww70/marcotennis/JCF.png

I never heard of Dodig ever:scared:, but for the part I saw, I can tell straight away that he has a great technique, powerful serve and groundies, a nice slice and some amazing movements, but GOSH is a damn shitty tactician. He always hits the ball at the same speed, the same way and he always uses the same pattern on wahtever ball is sended to him :o He retired at the beginning of the second citing left wrist injury  He's right-handed with a one-handed backhand :retard:

Match Of The Day ''Take 2": Milos Raonic (WC) def Michael Llodra 6-4 7-6 (3)

http://i706.photobucket.com/albums/ww70/marcotennis/Raonic.png

All Raonic needed is one more victory to add one more Canadian to the short list of honored representatives. The task was set and was quite hard. He was facing Michael Llodra, nonetheless than a former Doubles Slam Champ and singles ATP title holder. After defeating the world number 76th the previous, could Raonic back it up with another amazing victory. Sure but the underdog had to prove it all NOW! :yeah: Raonic, struggles at the beginning of the match but stays in there and ends winnig all of his service games. So does Llodra. :p At 4-3 Raonic, Llodra to serve, Llodra doesnt want to give away the net so he starts rushing it on both first and second serve. Raonic varies, hard flatted shot, to nice short slice to counter-attack, Llodra. He gets the break. Screams Come-On and jumps! :woohoo: The rest of the set his a formality. Second set starts nervously for Raonic. He gets broken. He must break back he wants to keep second set hopes alive! :D. He does!!!! It is now 2-2 :worship:. As the match goes on, Raonic faces multiple strssing situations, but comes up with a big ace once in a while to help it out. Meanwhile, Llodra asks for the trainer citing a left thigh injury. Tiebreak...Llodra hits forehand return long. Game, Set and Match Raonic. Raonic his extatic. He cannot Believe It. So do we :worship::worship::worship::worship::worship:

Raonic signed about 600 autographs and took like 100 pictures....NO JOKE! :p

Report - Day 3 - 1st Round Part 1

Match 1: Frederic Niemeyer (WC) def Igor Kunitsyn 7-5 6-1

http://i706.photobucket.com/albums/ww70/marcotennis/Fred.png

I decided to arrive little later at the Rogers Cup today, like around 12h. For some unknown reasons all of the good ''Matinee'' matches were on Court Banque Nationale, the secondary court. First match I covered was what I expected to be Niemeyer last carreer match , but Fred had some other ideas. Ok, lets say Fred started a little slow. He got broken at 4-3, he then held serve and HOP! we were at 5-4 Kunitsyn serving for the set. Pushed by the Crowds cheerings, Niemeyer came back from 30-0 disadvantage and 30-30 we were. He got a first chance to break, but he stayed tentative and Kunitsyn made him pay for being nervous . Anyways, next break point Freddy got the break and back on serve was the match. 30-0 Niemeyer hits great first serve, comes to the net, hits a winner :woohoo:, starts limping, he can barely move :scared:. The crowd is in total shock, no sound whatsoever is being heard. Freddy gets a medical timeout, he's back on his feet. Can he hang in there. YES! He holds 6-5. Come on, Fred! Break! :p. Forehand of Kunitsyn clips the net and...doesnt make it through. Game, First Set, Niemeyer! :yeah: In the second set, Kunitsyn looks empty. He basically tanks the match after being broken early on :o. Fred wins the Match and gets a Shot at Federer on Centre Court. That could very well be the end of is career indeed. But could it get much better ???. I mean Centre Court, facing Federer on a night session :worship: Merci Fred piur ses beaux moments de tennis que tu nous a fait vivre à tous et toutes. Mille Fois MERCI! :worship::worship::worship:

Report - Day 3 - 1st Round Part 1

Match 2: Peter Polansky (WC) def Bruno Agostinelli (WC) 6-3 7-6 (6)

http://i706.photobucket.com/albums/ww70/marcotennis/Peter2.png

http://i706.photobucket.com/albums/ww70/marcotennis/Peter1.png

The first set of that match was really a streak thing. Polansky was off a great start taking a 3-0 advantage. Then Agostinelli started finding a bit more rythm on serve, he got the break back and the score was now of 3-2 for Polansky, Agostinelii to serve, so basically on serve ;). Polansky then took the streak back and rallied to win the first set. The seconde set was more of a Serving Contest, with both player keeping their serve and loosing it only once each. Agostinelli was way more consistant and precise, but unfortunately after saving a mtch pooint in the tiebreaker, Agostinelli dumped a forehand long . Polansky has proven once again to be the next canadian hope. Agostinelli his very uninteresting to watch in my opinion. He does what he's suppose to, but he doesnt have any big weapon and particularities. He's like Raonic, but in elder and so on... a more desperate case :o.

Match 3: Gael Monfils (13) def Marat Safin 6-2 3-6 6-2

http://i706.photobucket.com/albums/ww70/marcotennis/Gael22.png

That was such a weird match. I mean the scores ressembles more a womens match scoreline. Whatever, in the first set Monfils was Outstanding. He accelerated on every ball, whether he was on or off balance . Safin was really struggling with getting some first serves in, which led to many DFs thereof. In the second set, the opposite happened, Safin got his serve back on tarck while Monfils started making uncharacteristic erros on the forehand side especially. Safin got a code violation of ball abused, in the first so no need to say he could not afford being a ''BAD BOY'' again . The third set was a really a two-momentum thing. Safin got up an early break, but Monfils was able to break break back after a long breathless game. We from there for saw the Monfils of the 1st set: The Best Monfils Ever Played in my opinion :p

Report - Day 4 - 1st and 2nd Round

Match 1: Andy Murray def Jeremy Chardy 6-4 6-2

http://i706.photobucket.com/albums/ww70/marcotennis/Chardy.png http://i706.photobucket.com/albums/ww70/marcotennis/Britt.png

Well, not much to be said about that one. Murray did what he had to do and in great fashion. Chardy got a few chances in the second set to get back on serve, but some unwelcome mistake had him lost the match. I was surprised how Montreal people love Murray and also happily surprise of how nice he was. I always thouhgt of Murray as a British ''snobinard'' taking care of his person only. Guess I was wrong ;). Anyways, Murray will now be facing the winner of the Monfils/JCF match. Whoever the winner of that encounter is, Murray will have to take care if he wants to make the semis and get a shot at the ''GOAT''. :p

Match 2: Novak Djokovic def Peter Polansky 7-6 6-4

http://i706.photobucket.com/albums/ww70/marcotennis/Polansky123.png

Djokovic is very the BIG THING in Montreal after Nadal and Federer. He is loved by all types of people. Old, Young, Tennis Fans, etc. Mostly known for some of his impersonations, Novak conquered Montreal's heart two years ago deafeating the GOAT. No need to specify that the crowd was very divided. Hopefully, waiting for the heavy rain to stop was worth it, because we were handed a great quality match, in which Polansky showed some signs of greatness, while Djokovic seemed Rusty and Affected by a deep cold. Hopefully, Djoko will get better. I'm really looking forward to the Roddick-Djokovic Quarterfinal! If Peter gets a little more regularuty on his groundies, he can clearly become some TOP 50 :yeah:.

Match Of The Day: Roger Federer def Frederic Niemeyer (WC) 7-6 6-4

http://i706.photobucket.com/albums/ww70/marcotennis/Fed1.png

:worship::worship::worship::worship::worship: Wow what a match that was. It was short indeed, but soooo Intense! With a fully loaded Stadium, (probably the first time ever in ATP history for a second round match  ), Frederic proved once against he had nothing to envy to the great players of this selective world. Not only did Fred matched Rogers power. He overpowered him at some points :yeah:. This match was great also for the emotional charge in the air. It was in fact Niemeyer's last career match. When asked after the match if he had seen the poster citing '' Non à la Retraite'', Niemeyer said: '' No doubt I'm not coming back . I love what I did, but now it's time for me to be a Dad. :D. Fred walked off the court wearing a Habs shirt under the crowds amazing cheers. On t'aime Fred et Bonne Chance dans la Vie ;).

Report - Day 5 - 2nd Round

Match 1: Jo-Wilfrid Tsonga def Rainer Schuettler 4-6 6-3 6-4

http://i706.photobucket.com/albums/ww70/marcotennis/Wilfrid.png

When I woke up this morning, I thought: no need torush this is going to be easy stuff for Tsonga. I mean Schuettler hasn't done anything special since making the 2003 Australian Open Final. Okay he got rid off Florent Serra quite easily, but Serra sort of gave him the match. I arrived at 4-3 Schuettler, serve to follow. So basically, Rainer was up a break. Both guys kept their respective serve, Schuettler won the first set 6-4. Early in the second, Tsonga was still making uncommon mistakes and allowing Schuettler to come in and hit a few great shots. All I were thinking, was ''Come On Tsonga!Accelerate!". Because honestly, I thought he was being a little pusher :o. Anyways at 4-3, Schuettler got broken and Tsonga hold serve to take the second. The third, would be a ''who wants it more contest'' Tsonga hitting way better, came through in ordinary fashion, but a WIN is a WIN. ;)

Report - Day 5 - 2nd Round

Match 2: Juan Carlos Ferrero def Gael Monfils 6-3 7-6

http://i706.photobucket.com/albums/ww70/marcotennis/Monfrere.png

This match was clearly highlighted by the burning sun. I mean ''BURNING" :fiery: ! I had to put some water on my towel and put it over my face during changeovers. Thats part of the reason why I didn't really enjoy the match. The other reason is simply the WINNER. I wanted Monfils to win sooooo badly. I mean he's such a Show Man and of course he speaks French so he gets the crowd cheerings :yeah:. Well after seeing Ferrero play today, I can tell Murray better play great . What in fact ''killed'' Monfils today was the early breaks he suffered early in both sets :o. Also, he was not accelerating as much as he does usually. I think he was injured, but he didn't call for the trainer . Lets see how he does next week :p

Match 3: Andy Roddick def Igor Andreev 6-1 7-6

http://i706.photobucket.com/albums/ww70/marcotennis/Roddy11.png

http://i706.photobucket.com/albums/ww70/marcotennis/Andreev1.png

Not that I were tired of frenchmen, but I were happy not to here people cherring them on with that France accent. I guess it's a natural thing to imitate this accent while cheering a frenchman. Anyways, Andy was smoking good in that first set, while Andreev was home -running a few forehands. In the second, Andy wasn't near as great, but mostly because of Andreev, who's game had improved enormously from first. Andy looking Smoking Hot! :inlove: could hear young girl cheering: ''Andy Marry Me!". I dont know why, but in Montreal Roddick is very popular when it comes to woman and young girls. Is that the case everywhere. Anyways, I definetely look forward to that Djoko-Roddick Qurterfinal Match. I hope its not at night, because thats the only session I wont attend. I handed out my tickets before knowing the Draw :sobbing:
