He has to play here. ATP rules state that if you enter a Challenger you have to play it or stay home that week. You can't cancel a Challenger entry in favor of an ATP event (unless you get a rule waiver, and those supposedly are not easy to come by).

Even if he had played the qualies and made MD, he still could have played the Challenger. He probably wouldnt have made the finals in Tokyo so he would have had time to travel back to the States. He could ask for a Tues/Wed 1st rd match and most likely get it.

Could he have gotten a WC to Shanghai?

I don't know the reason. I'm not sure if he can play Shanghai, but surely he would be fined if so since he was commited to this event.

Yeah, that's what I meant. But since some WCs in Shanghai are still unknown, maybe they gave one to Dent.

Then again, he also pulled out of Tokyo qualis, so maybe he is injured

Do you mean Bradley Klahn? He plays for Stanford University. He's actually been playing the ITA college tournament for the past week and was in the doubles semifinal today. That's a lot of tennis for him (and he's missing a lot of classes too, must be nice to be an athlete).

I'm wondering about the condition of his shoulder. He looked a bit blah playing doubles last Friday, didn't serve as well as he had been. Of the shins, the lower back, and the shoulder problems, I think the shoulder pain is the quickest to come back.

Anyway, it's raining in Nor Cal today, probably won't be any tennis.

Jan-Mike's birthday is in June. I've put a lot of information in the current thread in his forum, most of it coming straight from him, perhaps you should read it.

I was only in Sacramento by chance, for one day. I'll be going to Calabasas, possibly for qualies, definitely for a day or two of main draw. I want to see Mike and a few others.

Jesse is 5-2* so I'm happy, hope he can close without much drama. I'm much more concerned about Zemlja vs. Gonzalez :o

I had German at school for 8 years.

The most upsetting about Santiago is that generally he does have some fight inside himself, but not on his own serve

5 breaks in a row on hard :spit:

german as a first language? didn't know were so well-liked in poland

quite funny that you cant learn czech or polish in germany at school
not even as an additional language
so many czechs and poles speak at least a bit german
but there seems to be no interest to learn the language of the neighbor states in germany

first foreign language I meant
I had german, english, latin(:o) & italian

just mentioned the lack of opportunity to learn especially czech because the czech border is not too far away from where I grew up

It's a useful language for us - many tourists from Germany, many people from here go abroad over there to work... But I forgot most of it; had no practise and I didn't like the language too much... despite I had A at school.
You guys certainly need English and French more than Polish, and on the other hand, your government certainly doesn't support the minorities to stick to Polish language, that's why you can't choose it as additional - it's political and understood.

Oscar and especially Dani are cool, but Albert is so boring :o I like Labadze, Dolgopolov, Kudryavtsev, Gaba, Schukin, Smirnov... funny guys

Nice pick with Soeda :yeah: I should have checked Santi's schedule more carefully, didn't notice he didn't have a break before Quito and Sacramento.

Oh that's nice to hear. In the media here they keep shouting how many Polish schools are closed over there, that people have problems etc. but media are so political too and love to overhype things... So is Minsk a nice city for a tourist?

I have seen to play Bozo several times, but I've never seen to Soeda. żCould he win tonight?
Soeda has won to Giraldo and Kim, but both matches were really stranges because Soeda was down in the first set and then his rivals disappeared.
