Washington Draw  his quarter

(5) SODERLING, Robin SWE/BYE
YOUZHNY, Mikhail RUS v KENDRICK, Robert USA
(WC) JANOWICZ, Jerzy POL v GICQUEL, Marc FRA
BYE/(12) TROICKI, Viktor SRB
(15) SELA, Dudi ISR/BYE
HEWITT, Lleyton AUS v (WC) YOUNG, Donald USA
LU, Yen-Hsun TPE v (WC) RUSSELL, Michael USA
BYE/(2) DEL POTRO, Juan Martin ARG

So he and Del Potro, both of last year's finalists are in the same quarter  but more importantly... Soderling... :bigcry:

I am not too fond of having Viktor to play Gicquel (the likely winner in R1) in his first match.

I followed the LS and I sensed something was very wrong in his one and only service game.

I just got home. I was there for all 3 games. Very short, not very sweet. He just asked for the trainer, took of a shoe, then that was it. He's so nice, I feel bad for him going out like that.

Again the foot injury, damn! Anyone knows more about it? Started in Hamburg, then he played out the match in Umag (but lost) and now it came up again in Washington. Hope it's just precaution and he's not in danger for the TMSs...

Lee

Even his foot is OK, the draw in Montreal sucks

R1 vs Ferrer

R2 vs Nadal

and I don't plan to look further.

savesthedizzle

Ugh. That is. :tape:

What do draw gods have against our boy?

Ad Wim
08-08-2009, 11:56 AM
Don't think it is that bad a draw for a non-seed. Ferrer is winnable, he only had one good run in Hamburg, before and after he was shit.
And I'd rather draw Nadal then any other of the top 8 (except Tsonga) at the moment...

I'm back from Legg Mason. I only saw Viktor once and he was practicing. Well, barely practicing. He was jogging about 0.2mph around a court and then stretched and then watched others practice. :haha: We left before he actually started hitting... assuming he did. ;)

We were gonna go to his match but he ended up retiring as we were leaving Andy's match and heading over. No pictures to share. Sorry Jess.

Omg what a tough draw in Montreal just when his ranking was on the up too, but on the bright side Ferrer isn't at his best on the hard courts and Rafa has been out for a while so maybe he can pull off a couple upsets... that is if he has recovered from his injury from last week. But I'm gonna keep faith and if he can make a good run here he should break into the top 16 and get seeded for these masters series! :D

Not much to cheer. I was actually encouraged that it got to a TB, but the TB was not close and then after some treatment in between sets and a game he retired, again

I want him to rest, and selfishly I also want him to play the USO still

His foot is still not right  The off season can't come soon enough I don't think. He needs a prolonged period of rest.

Ad Wim
09-14-2009, 11:40 PM
But why doesn't he take some weeks off then? It could also be a lack of form, because he does finish his matches.
Maybe he is fully fit but still a bit scared too go flat out.
Thought his win against Luczak was nice, but losing quite big to Benneteau is pretty bad.

He does play Davis Cup next week, hope the 2,5 weeks off did him well.

Istomin will be the tough one as he went deeper in USO this year than both Viktor and Janko. But Viktor, as #1 from Serbia :D, will play him after doubles so hopefully, no pressure. :p As long as he wins the opening rubber :tape:

But can someone please change the topic name. And tell those stupid chatters in the other threads to follow Troicki!

I saw him at the USO, and he's not 100% there so  Maybe a combination of both.

This has never been a serious forum where we dissect tennis all the time, so I don't really expect that to change, nor would I want it to. There is some history behind some of these "stupid chatters" and our stupid chat threads in here. Considering that Viktor does not do very much lately, I don't think it's awful that people have fun and use this forum for other things. I mean when he retires and/or loses in the first round every week that does leave us 6 days to wonder if he will retire or lose in the first round the next week.

and it was a very good match, very even and then in the third set it went from 30-0 to 30-40 and adv. viktor on kohlschreiber's opening service but kohli held serve and from there on viktor just broke down in emarassing fashion

And the two years before that when he lost in quallies.

And now the streak is broken :(

i think that Victor will try his hardest for the rest of the New Haven tournament so that he can compensate for the us open (probable) first round lost. (this is probably stupid reasoning by me :P)

i hope i see him play in the Australian Open next year, i saw him this year :)

This guy is a perpetual loser, I can't see him going much further in his career if he can't hold his nerve against a underperforming top player. Seriously 2-1 sets up and 2 chances to go a double break but nets two simple returns, can't hold serve to reach a tiebreak and even throws away another gifted break game in the 3rd set by throwing in double faults on game points, he can have all the talent in the world and he still wont beat any of the top players as he'll never have the heart or nerve to complete a big upset...no matter how far ahead he is in the match
