Alejandro Gonzalez (Colombia)

I think it's time for Alejo to have his thread, his improvement is notable and I seen not to be the only one to be following his results.

He was a member of the Amil team in Rio de Janeiro, coached by Ricardo Acioly, former Brazilian DC captain and Meligeni's coach. I don't think he is with them anymore, although the ITF website says he is. He was born in 1989 so he's 20 years old now.

I followed two of his match at a futures tournament in my hometown in 2007, when he was one of the forces at Brazilian futures. He had a good display you could see, and now the results are coming.

Last May was an amazing month for him, he won his first two future titles after some finals lost and was runner-up in another tournament. The 3 tournaments were held in Venezuela. In June, he passed through the qualies on an USA future and defeated Carsten Ball who is a good challenger player.

Alejo already has some experience on challengers having won several matches and even have reached the quarterfinals in one of them. Today he showed he is also a fighter when he almost had an epic win over Santiago Gonzalez, who recently played Wimbledon main draw as a qualifier. He came back from 2-5 at the final set after having won the first, saved match-points on the opponent's serve, had a match-point of his own but ended by losing 8-6 in the tiebreak.

If he keeps playing like this the results will keep coming and I'm pretty sure he will have great runs at least at South American challengers this year. Let's see how far he can get.

He's also done quite well in doubles so far for what it's worth, 262 in the world right now :cool:

in Brazil was not so well, played great future and not achieved much, this year has improved a lot, my tennis is the second of colombia, ahead of falla

From this small clips we can see he´s very talented and way ahead the standard young generation of tennis.
I think he just needs to lift his game a bit more and belive in himself and do a lot of hard work, he seemed like playing a bit too relaxed. Otherwise he will always be an excellent future player without the game to reach play well in CHS and to enter top 200.

Yeah me too, hope I can catch a match of him in Bs As, he seems to be quite a talent.

Really though loss against Falla, he was leading 4-2 in the third but lost 4-6.

It's all good man.

A couple of good wins for Alex, he already beat Falla and PuertA and now plays Ghedin.

Hope he can get to the SF this time.

Alejo lost to Karanusic 6-2 6-7(5) 4-6 in a hard court in Tiburon, USA. A very promising result judging he plays most of his matches on clay and Karanusic has much more experience on the bag.
