I'm just trying to put everything here.

Well said, angiel, I have no interest in those star's private life...I used to love watch TV series..But no longer, I am only interested in news and sports..

me too. At times, my mother gets upset with me because of this. She thinks that I should be like any other girl, watching soap operas and stuff like that.

Lalitha, you are from India, have you never heard that phrase "you are going to die an old maid", it means if you wait too long to get marry, you might end up old and not marry, it's a phrase we use in Jamaica all the time.

How old do you think I am, I am not that old Lalitha, as a matter of fact I am just 37 years old.

No, I haven't heard of that phrase.

What!? you are only 37. I remember you saying that you have kids of age 20+. That means you were a mother at a very young age.

Lalitha

All these 3 players, Guga, Pete and Rainer, are loyal to their coaches. They have a almost father/son relationship with them.

I am a sucker of this kind of loyalty so I think subconciously, have them as my favourite players since they are very different from each other, personally and professionally.

Wow, I would have never guessed that. ;)

Lalitha
08-24-2004, 11:32 AM
they said Victoria is already pregnant

Hmmm, I never heard that too.

umm, yes you are right, actually Chiense is really difficult to learn, let me type the chinese translation of Sampras for you, we always translate him as "森柏斯" while Agassi is "阿加斯", i hope you can see it, its more difficult than English I think :wavey:

I think english is more easier to learn in compared with them :wavey:

Not to mention the Japanese and Chineese languages, I dont think I could every learn those at all.

Anything from that part of the world is difficult to learn.

thanks for your excellent wise words angiel, i have the impression that people from Jamaica or Mexico/Brazil, Central America/South Amercia have very positive and happy character, no worries, is it true? :wavey:

This is what the word worry means - feel or cause to feel troubled over actual or potential difficulties, this is one meaning of the word, Mimi I have another little phrase for you.

Dont worry about yesterday, it is already past neither about tomorrow, it is not here yet, live for today.

This is for Mimi, read the above and you will live happily ever after. :D  :wavey:

Mimi
08-25-2004, 03:02 AM
honestly, you would not like this boss, she is very fierce and always scold people  , she once was a good person when i worked for her in the first few years, but when she become more powerful and rich, she changed gradually, become snoobish, thinking she is higher than others, always scold people i.e. she loves to say me "foolish, incompetent, useless ...... ", when I take annual leave, all other secretaries are afraid to serve her

thats why i say power and money will corrupt people's mind, i am sad to see her changing from a good to a bad person

but you know, now we are on economic decline, sometimes even a university graduate cannot find a job, they only get 1/2 of my salary so what should i do, i have tried to find another job, but they need to serve 2 bosses and only pay me 1/2 of my present salary, so i have no way but to stand, i hope after worknig for 2-3 more years, i have more monies and than i will stop for a while, i have enough of work :wavey:

yes she is a lawyer, may be some day i gonna find her an old photo of her and me, you for sure will laugh coz she looks like a man

I should have a boss like your :p but then again maybe not, you work for a lawyer?

hahaha, here in HK, summar is extremely hot, if you wear black in summar in HK, you gonna faint  :p

old people especially need to wear lighter colours otherwise they will look more o ld :p

thanks for the lovely photos of Bridgette :wavey:

Yes black will keep you warm in the summer time, and we all need a bit of colour in our lives.

Here are more photos of Bridgette.

i remember justine also choked when she was younger, i.e. 01 french open semi against Kim but at last she changed and become a great champion :worship: :worship:

I dont see Pete coaching anyone mimi, and if he is going to do so, he should start with somebody younger than Momo, she is too old now and set in her ways.

You can teach someone to win, but they have to figure it out for themself when playing, and tennis being a one on one sport, you alone will be on the court.

See how Justine beat her up at the olympics, that's my girl, she knows how to win and she does, she need to have a talk with Momo maybe.

Hey Mimi, how are you today, having a great day I see with lots of posts.

Yes I think the people of the Caribbean and Latin American, do take life much easier and are more relax, it has to do with the atmosphere.

The air and climate also has something to do with it too, and most of these countries are less populated than yours, so we have a lot of wide open space to move around in.

I dont think I can say which person are you in the photo, so please tell me in your next post, okay.

Mimi

good morning angiel :D

actually i am not feelling too good today, i could not leave my bed until 8:55 a.m so i am late for work, arrived at 9:33 am ;)

this may be because yesterday while i was jogging/walking in the park, there came the heavy rains, i got wet but since i have walked just for 10 minutes, theres not enough, so the stubborn mimi waited till the heavy rains went and walked for anotehr 20 minutes under the sometimes heavy, sometimes light rains, may be i got a little flu now :( but don't worry, is not serious :)

i have to post as much as i can in the morning coz the boss should arrive in the afternoon, she cannot be absence for so many days, so i think she will arrive in the afternoon so no more freedow after that ;)

yes I once had an internet friend from Mexico, he enjoyed life very much and said the Latin people are like that, no worries, they enjoy drinking and night activities and cafe, so little monies left but are happy :wavey:

I have read the book introduced by him, its call "100 years of solitiude", i like it very much, have you read it?

hehe, I am the one on the left, in red and long hairs but now i have short hairs and are more fat and old :p

I am fine and i did have a good day, and dont be jealous, although I am glad that I am not raising children these days, I know what a hand-full they can be.

When i have my kids, it was like part of my life fell apart, i was very young then and my whole world did turn up-side- down for awhile - but i manage to pick myself up and start all over again - and here i am today a happier person, i am glad i have them and not i dont have to worry about small kids running around.

Everything turn out for the best. :) :worship: :D

nice avator :D :worship:

i also cannot do the admin and management job coz i never know how to “command” people to do things ;) So i prefer to be an employee than a boss ;) :p

looking forward to seeing your photos :D :wavey: .

As my lazy boss loves to arrive in the afternoon, so even i do not have too much things to do, I used to leave office late (you know the boss only starts to work at 3 pm ;), mostly after 6:30 pm, so I cannot do too much things coz its already very late :(

on Monday and Tuesday, I will do some jogging/walking in the park, I also love to swim but only in summar, and on weekend, I mostly will go to movies/shopping/Chinese dim sims, just very common things, and on Sunday night, I will play a bit tennis with my old classmates (I have taken a primary tennis course at 02, i know it’s a bit late for my old age but just that I am always very lazy despite I began to have interest on tennis since 95, hehe, only after 7 years did I learn a bit tennis) ;)

the computer man had installed the same for me 2 years ago but i did not like it, the format so strange and will change from time to time  , so i used back my old version later, but as the admin partner wants us to change,. i have no choice, you know mimi is old so she loves old things ;)

mimi, XP is a much better than whatever Window O/S you had.

Your company must upgrade the O/S to XP because Microsoft won't support those old version O/S anymore. You just need to get used to it and XP crashes a lot less than 98 or 95.

Mimi

wow, thanks a lot Lee, mimi is a computer dummy, she only knows eating and sleeping  :o

but yes i learn that xp crashes a lot so i don't like it :(

No, I mean XP crashes less. I'm using XP now. Before when I still used 98, it's almost a daily routine for me to keep reboot the machine.

Lucky you, will you be going to the US open too, and how much tournaments do you visit.

Maybe you need to go see Pete, hear that he is getting restless sitting at home doing nothig, what do you think he should do - they say he dont want to be in tennis.

Not likely as NY is too far away from Scottsdale

Scottsdale was my first tournament. Too bad it's after Pete's retirement. Pete's brother, Gus, is the tournament organiser here.

I have no idea what Pete will do. I agree with you that he won't be a coach. My guess will be something involve tennis. That's one problem most tennis players faced. They dedicated most of their life to tennis and when retirement came, most are pretty lost. They are different from most retired people as they are basically still at a young age.

You are right, they retires too young.

Have a great weekend everyone, I have to work all this weekend myself, so see you all on monday, hey Mimi will talk to you. :wavey: :wavey:

:wavey: Angiel! Work on weekends? For me, even I don't have to work, weekend is the busiest days for me as both hubby and little Lee need entertainment. I don't have any time for myself :p

Joyce, I will not go to USO. I live in the SW corner of US and Flushing Meadow is in the NE corner. There's no way I can leave my hubby and son behind for a tennis tournament  I go to Scottsdale earlier this year because there's where I live.

hello Lalitha :D

having a computer is very convenient, I bought it mainly because I thought I needed it when I got fired, i gonna browze the internet and searched for the job ;)

do you have a sister or brother  , any one to share the fees for buying a computer with you at home so that you can save more?

Hi everyone! :bigwave:

Mimi, I do have a sister and a brother, but they are studying in college, so I don't want them to work. That would be disturbing their studies.

I have applied for many places. Hopefully I'll get one.

As Lee has said, XP is good and much much better than 95/98. Actually I liked the XP instantly when they loaded it in my office.

hello Joyce :D

I am fine, just feeling tired a bit, may be its because the weather is too hot, hehe, we are the same, mimi is very shy and not sociable so I think its better that I become an employee, do you know when I was young, my wish is to become a writer coz I only need to sit at home and no need to communicate too much with people :wavey:

Wow, how can you be so lazy, you should do a bit exercise otherwise you will become fat  :p

Yes I have worked on Saturday for half day, I have gone swimming a bit and then on Sunday, I slept very late, wanted to play tennis but there came heavy rains so i watched on tv "Scream 3" instead :)

Have a nice day Joyce :D

hello angiel :D

I reply you in this chat thread :wavey:

hey I have not thought deeply yet so i don’t know what shop he should open, may be he should sell the things that he has interest? May be open a golf equipment shop, so that sometimes he can sit in the shop, wow, but by then, the shop may be full of fans ;)

umm, you are right, if he does not want to involve in tennis, then he should not be a coach, may be I am selfish, I always want to see him again, so i want him to be a coach ….

may be Pete can just the the housewife, hehe, take care of Christian all the time but by then, may be he will become womanish? I really have no idea, may be he can go back to school and learn again like Hingis? :wavey:

umm, Pete got married at 29, just 4 years later, not big difference between 25 and 29 right but you are right, if he does not want to marry, no one can force him ;), If i am her, i will wait coz pete is a rare man, rich, handsome, not flamboyant, not messed up with other women like Becker ;)

you are right, love would be more successful if the couple belong to the same age group but a maximum of 10 years difference is the maximum for me so since she is older than pete for 7 years, its ok for me but over 10 years, even mimi cannot accept coz there would be a huge difference, not only mentally but physically, one want to go to disco, one is too old even to walk, hehe

oh, then i am disappointed, i don’t like bull dog, i love small little dogs, they are more cute ;) :wavey:

Mimi, why dont you like large dogs are you scare of them - I wish I could show you what Bridgette dog looks like - I have this magazine of her when she was pregnant, call CHILD and there are pictures of her and this big English bull dog - they say it was a gift from Pete.

Lalitha, sorry to hear that you dont find a new job yet, but hopefully something will turn up soon.

Landoud, long time I dont hear from you, how have you being, you need to post more often.

Jamaica won 4 medals from the games, 2 gold a silver and a bronze - I am so happy for them and congrats to all you guys that your country won medals.

welcome back :D

do you know when i was jogging yesterday, there came the heavy rains so miranda was completely wet  , also i lost my watch, so i was very angry and determined to search through the entire jogging lane under the heavy rains, but luckily at last i found it  :)

i was told that the bull dogs are very fierce  and will bite people  , i love little dogs more but also big dogs like Golden Retriever :wavey:

congratulations on your country for winning so many golds :D

damn it i cannot watch us open because the bad paid cable tv had cancelled these 2 channels (bought by new cable co). I want to subscribe for new co only after the old contract had expired which will be next February 05 so i will have 5 months without tennis

Forget my post above and happy to hear from you, how are you my dear, sometimes it's good to walk in the rain - I used to do that when I was in Jamaica - and glad you found you watch.

Yes these english bull dogs can be dangerous, they grow so hugh in size, I am scare of dogs that I am not use to - but people love these dogs a lot, Bridgette dog is a very large one I tell you, his name is Ruby.

China won a lots of medals 63 in all, did Hong Kong won any?

Sorry to hear about your cable company - that is too bad, no US open, man oh man - look how far February is - that is too long to wait, cant you get a better deal from the cable companies, you need to find out.

Thank God for the computer then, you can get the up-dates there.

i am fine, thanks, how about you :wavey:

wow, you love to walk in the heavy rains  , you don't fear getting a cold  , then you must have a very healthy body :worship:

if so, then Bridgette should not keep this dog, may be he will harm little Christian

yes HK won a silver but let me tell you a secret: the ping pong players who won actually are from mainland china, they can only act as substitute in the chinese team, so they came to HK, hoping for better and now they won but you can see that HK has not much good players :o

yes i can subscribe for a new cable company but jsut that i don't like to have 2 moderms together, the bad cable tv said i have one year contract with them which will only expire on February 05 so i don't want to waste too much money for paying 2 cos :(, even with the paid cable tv i.e. espn and stars sports, there still not too much tennis to watch, only grand slams+big master series, never show women, i learnt that Euro Sports is the best, but we do not have this chanel in HK :(

i am still adapting to the xp ;)

the bad boss is in the office, but in the meeting room so i take my time to post to you ;)

No i dont catch a cold walking in the rain, as a matter of fact I can't tell the last time I even has a cold.

Maybe HK will do better next time in the olympics - but maybe not because the next games will be in China 2008.

Mimi, I don't understand a thing here. Isn't HongKong a separate country - I thought it is a part of China.

Mimi, don't worry about STAR Sports, I saw yesterday and then they were showing mainly Asian players. But ofcourse you will miss it, may be by next week when the Quarter finals begin. Can't you go to some friends place to watch?

Mimi, I don't understand a thing here. Isn't HongKong a separate country - I thought it is a part of China.

Hong Kong is called the Special Administration District (SAD) (correct me if I'm wrong here, Mimi) of China. She has her own government, currency, etc (other than defense, military). The arrangement is sort of like being a colony of China (like India was a colony of Britian) though not exactly.

Lee, Lalitha and Landoud, doing great I hope, I am happy, happy to hear from you guys, I feel lonely here yesterday.

Lalitha, maybe you need to seek a different job for the time being - until you can get what you wanted.

Hello good morning angiel :D

Joyce and others may be are too busy but I am still there ;)

Don’t worry, even if I got fired by the boss, find another job which does not allow me to post in message board, I still will post at least once a week at my home, I love to talk to you lovely people so much, especially all of you are pete’s fans :D

We don’t have many good players in HK except Lee Lai Shan (gold medalist at 96 wind surfing) but she will be 38 at 2008 so I don’t think she will win, this year she finished as no.4, if she was not disqualified in one match by the judge, may be she can win coz she was no.1 at that time!

Hope this big dog will not hurt little Christian, but I do think they have to be careful coz sometimes even the mild animals can turn crazy!

oh Lalitha, I am sorry, lets hope that you can find a better soon :worship: , don’t worry, I am sure that you gonna find a good one soon. We will all pray for you

as Lee pointed out, HK is now part of China but we have different status than other cities of China, we are claimed to be ruled independently from China ;) (but however China still keeps its big eyes on us and sometimes amend our laws ;)). So when there is Olympics, even both HK and Taiwan belong to China but we do not belong to the same group as china, very complicated, hehe ;). HK is now calls "The government of the HK Speical Administrative Region) :wavey:

None of my friends are interested on tennis and whats more, they are more miser than mimi, they do not want to spend money for paying the cable tv ;)

Then we are different, I don’t like window xp because of the orange/blue sharp colours ;)

Oh you are very knowledgeable Lalitha :D. wow, this “priest” interrupted the formual 1 last year? How come he can? The cars will crush him to death when he interrupted it?

i am fine up till now coz the bad boss has not yet arrived :secret: :woohoo: :bigclap: :music:  so i have to use this perfect time to anwer you :)

i did swim a bit yesterday, i felt good coz the water is a bit cold, very comfortable but there are 2 naughty kids who kicked the water all the time

yes Bridgette should take care of this dog, coz i was told that the dogs will feel jealous on babies who got more love from their masters

angiel
09-01-2004, 04:15 AM
I love this, hope bad boss stay away a bit longer - and we shall talk lots for now okay.

Do you want kids mimi? you seem to like them a lot.

Well they say dogs are a man best friend, I know they can get vicious a times - here in the US you can get into big trouble if your dogs injury somebody, like go to jail or prision even.

Christian will be safe from ruby.

Mimi
09-01-2004, 04:22 AM
umm, i like kids, but only for those not naughty ones

but for bearing a child, i don't know if i have the patience to take care of them all the time coz i can see many of my friends and sister have no more time after bearing a baby :wavey: , but in the first place, i got to find a Mr right first before i can bear a baby ;) :p . Also here in HK, the kids are very poor, the education system has become worst an worst, you need to learn many things all the time, almost no childhood, my nephew has to learn piano/swimming/dancing ..... and she has already shoulder many pressure at this young age ....... so many rich parents will send their kids overseas to study so that they don't need to shoulder the pressure, also many married couple do not give birth to kids coz they fear the bad ecnomic condition (no job, no money, how can they raise the kids in good condition  ) so less and less new born babies nowadays

yes pete and Bridgette must keep a close eye on Christian :wavey:

Mimi

Why do you have to wait for Mr. right to have a child, you are not getting younger you know (smile) children are precious and god will provide for them, somewhere, somehow trust me.

no doubt Pete & Bridgette will keep Christian safe, that I know, bridgette want this baby too badly, to let something like a dog to harm him.

mimi is conservative, i want to be have baby with the man I love ;). But don't worry if i cannot find that person, when i am older, i can adopt one :wavey: , pff, yes I am in my 30's but the technolgoy is very advance today, some can give birth even at late 40's ;)

if i have a baby, i will not work, i will use all my time to raise him :)

angiel
09-01-2004, 06:13 AM
Way to go girl, have you children in your 40's but Mimi the children will be too young when you reaches old age, dont you think.

It's best to have a child when you are young, they say.

Lunch was good it seem, enjoy.

Mimi

well, sometimes we said we can control our life, yes its true, if i really want to get marry, i can, simply go to those mariage agency and you can find one and then have a baby ;), but i don't like this, i prefer natural one ;)

if i never find that person, its ok, if i never will have any kid, its also ok, the most important thing is to live happily :)

I really envy of you very much coz you already have two grown up children :wavey:

Do you know something mimi, I am happy I had them - I was so young at the time and my life was turn up side down, and i mean my whole life - in jamaica when a young person has a baby out of wedlock, it is like a crime has being comitted and you are left to feel like an outcast - that how i felt then.

But i get up and turn myself around and try to achieve all that i can for myself and my kids - and now i am happy for it - they are such good children.

I thank the Lord everyday for small mercies, it could have been worse. :worship: :wavey:

then seems your country is really conservative  , the trend has changed in HK now, many women who are aging, over 30/40 (but however many of them are ex-actresses), they cannot find a suitable man, sorry for my bad english, i don't know how to explain, they go to doctor to "buy" sperms (wrong spelling) to inject into their body so that they can bare their own babies :wavey:

many young girls also bear kids out of mariage, some of them are so afriad that they even threw away the babies  , most of them give the babies to orphan house

so I really admire you, you raised them to a matured good people with yoru own hands, you should not feel ashamed, you did not do anything wrong :worship: :worship: , you are such a great person :worship: :worship:

Thank you Mimi, but tell that to most people back then and see where it got you - Jamaica is still conservative than most countries I knew - if you are gay you can't let others know about it in jamaica - they will kill you for it.

there is more churches in jamaica than sq. miles. :(

Hong Kong is called the Special Administration District (SAD) (correct me if I'm wrong here, Mimi) of China. She has her own government, currency, etc (other than defense, military). The arrangement is sort of like being a colony of China (like India was a colony of Britian) though not exactly.

Thanks Lee. I never knew that. I believed HonkKong is a city in China. :D

Howdy to you all - I have a good day and now I am home and can chat all night long.

I have bad news again - there is another hurricane heading toward Florida - it could hit land by friday - can you believe that we just had one about three weeks ago.

And also the lady that I work for left for New York today, so I need to find a new job myself, so I join Lalitha on the job hunt.

Lalitha dont be sorry because you know what - so much good has come out of me having those kids that young - that now I can smile about it, my life was change but all for the better, maybe if it didn't happen I would still be living in my parish where I was born in Jamaica.

Having those kids make me start looking at the world around me differently - I have become a totally new person, one example - I use to worry myself endlessly for no good reason, I use to cry a lot when i couldn't solve my problems - and I use to let others walk all over me and i could go on - all that is a thing of the past.

The first thing I start doing during this time was reading - I would reading any and everything I could get my hands on - and I truly learn the meaning that reading do maketh the man.

But thank you Lalitha and all you guys, you have become real true friends to me, thank you.

mimi, I admit Hong Kong looks beautiful at night only and those pictures only show the best part of Hong Kong. But, it's the same everywhere.

I know you travel to many places and you'll see the most beautiful places. But, there are equally ugly parts of those places that you don't have to chance to see. I didn't travel much but I lived in Hong Kong, Canada and now in USA and I can say, every places are more or less the same. It's beautiful in Calgary (Canada) and in Scottsdale (USA) but at the same time, there are dumps, bad weather days, crimes, etc in those cities too. So don't be so hash on Hong Kong. She does the best she can.

Angiel, good luck with your job hunting too!

Lalitha, during a hurricane everything bascially stops, no work, school or anything - we all have to stay inside our homes - to go outside can be very dangerous with things flying all over the place.

You also get a lot of rain and wind during the storm, right now everybody is stocking up on food, water and important things they might need to last them until it is finish - which could be between 3 to 7 days.

And yes some people will have to evacuate their homes and seek shelters where it is safer to be - I will not have to do that myself.

I am keeping my fingers cross that the hurrican will not hit land at all.

Take care my dear and help me pray.

It is the hurricane season for one - so we can't get away from having them - most time they dont develop into hurricane - but sometime they do.

In the Caribbean we have problem with storms too, the US is not that far from the Caribbean - I am from jamaica and Florida where I live is just an hour or so from there.

The countries of the Caribbean can't withstand these storms, it cause a lots of damages and lost of live also - the Caribbean is alway the first to get hit - then the US.

I will be okay and thank you guys, I just dont like the storms - the name of the storm is Frances - such a nice name but bad storm.

See you tomorrow Lee and give Little Lee a big kiss for me.

You are not gone yet are you mimi. :wavey: ;)

Mimi
09-03-2004, 04:31 AM
then I guess Florida is mostly warm :wavey:

i think the problem is that you mostly live in separate wooden house while we HK people live in tall building so its not easy for the storms to hit our house :wavey:, they usually just hit the farm land :wavey:

mimi is still there, but i am quite busy in the morning :wavey:

Yes Florida is alway warm and sunny, it has a tropical climate like Jamaica.

No Mimi, there is not mostly wooden houses here, as a matter of fact there are no wooden houses here - the problem is most of these homes are not concrete but dry wall, you also have people living in trailer parks homes.

Those houses can't stand winds up to 140 miles per hour.

Have a happy lunch and see you soon. :wavey: :wavey:

Yes Lalitha I am here, nice to hear you at this time, not sleeping yet and how was your day, how is the job coming. :wavey:

angiel

We have both winter and summer here too, but Florida is in the southern most part of the usa, so the climate is warm - it dont get too cold here like up north.

You are right they need to start building stronger houses here, but they keep doing the same thing over and over.

Sometimes you can't avoid natural disaster.

Lalitha

Hi angiel, my job coming does'nt seems to be coming. How about yours?

Lalitha
09-03-2004, 06:45 AM
No mimi, I think today might be my last day here. or tommorow at the most. I'll be missing you all.

angiel
09-03-2004, 07:01 AM
Oh no Lalitha, please dont say that you are breaking our hearts - I can't believe we wont hear from you again, why.

You will find a job I tell you - you will, I dont find one as yet but I will, dont give up never give up please.

Do you have a computer at home, maybe you could borse to see if you could find a job.

I am upset with your new of not coming back here - dont you have friends you could ask about the job - give it a few more days something might just turn up.

You have become a great friend to us, please dont say you are not coming back Lalitha.

I just wish we could do something for you - we live too far apart.

I am so sorry, believe that.

Lalitha
09-03-2004, 07:15 AM
Angiel, You guys have also become a great friend to me and what I meant there is not chating to you everyday. May be I will go to a cyber cafe once or twice a week and things like that.

I don't have a computer at home - I think I've said it already. If I get a job I can buy a computer on loan and get an internet connection too. I was planning for all this, until I found myself serving my notice period.

I do have a lot of friends, and infact they are all helping me to get a job. The thing is, either I don't find a suitable job or a job that pays less - very much less than what I'm getting now. That would be demoralising for me.

Anyways, hoping for best. I've applied for a new job today, hopefully they call me for an interview. It is not where I live now. If I got selected, I would have to shift to that place, leaving my parents and friends. But hey, I can talk to you guys then, and don't feel home sick.

Mimi
09-03-2004, 07:24 AM
the computer man is fixing my computer and the bad boss is here so i can just write briefly :(

angiel: the constructor and government is so foolish not to build stronger houses

Lalitha: i gonna miss you a lot if i do not hear from you as often as before, can you post in internet cafe :wavey:

Lalitha
09-03-2004, 07:32 AM
mimi, of course I can post from cyber cafe. But not daily.

angiel
09-03-2004, 07:37 AM
I am keeping my fingers cross for you to get that job my dear - and please let us know if you do - I dont like you leaving your family to go too far - I know what that is like, with me been here and my family all the way in Jamaica - I misses my kids a lot.

But you have to do, what you have to do my dear.

Mimi, I dont think thing will change even if there is a storm here, it sound foolish but that's how they do it here.

Mimi
09-03-2004, 07:42 AM
ok, Laliltha i hope you gonna get a good job, get a computer and still communicate with us daily, its my pleasure to know such a positive and caring person as you :wavey: , don't forget us :p ;)

angiel: the government really needs to do something, may be all people to demonstrate on street to alert the govenment

angiel
09-03-2004, 07:48 AM
They should but they are not going to trust me - each time there is a storm the businesses are the ones that benifit from these disasters - I dont know if they will protest about it - but why should they it is there homes not the government.

Lalitha is not leaving us - she will get that job. ;) ;)

Lalitha
09-03-2004, 10:19 AM
Yes, Angiel - If I had to leave I have to. Because it is for the sake of myself and my family. My parents hardly send me to any picnics or excursions during my school days, so I wonder how they will feel this time.

mimi, I do care a lot about you. I would really like to help you, because sometime back, I was like you pessimisstic and negative thoughts all the time, but then I learnt to come out of it, with the help of a couple of friends. So, I would like you to change and help people like you to change as well. :)

Okay, as angiel has said, I will get a job soon and I'm not leaving you guys. But Angiel, I don't think I'll be accepted by any company in US, because my english is not that fluent.

Coming to the storm and hurricane part, Angiel I pray God that there should no calamities this time.

Lalitha, I really hope you'll find a new job soon. We will miss you dearly.

Mimi, the houses in Florida are built with lumber. Most of those are single houses. It's too costly to build single houses with concrete and steel to withstand the hurricane. In Hong Kong, since all are very tall apartment buildings, they are all built with concrete and steel.

angiel

Lalitha, how would you know that you will not get a job here in the US, if I were you I would apply for one here, there is a lot of people from India working here in computer related field - your english sound fine to me and shouldn't be a problem.

Give it a try will you this might be a good thing, let me know if you do.

Take care and good luck.

Hello blueriver, how are you happy weekend to you too.

Hi Lee, good day to you - yes you are right, the houses here are built mostly with dry wall materials and not concrete and steel, and they are family homes.

I have some good new the hurricane is decreasing to a tropical storm in most areas, we are only going to get mostly rain.

hello Mrs Lee ;)

i love single house :worship: but i don't like them in lumber, i think its not wise to build houses in lumber given that they know they are easily attacked by the storm  , thanks for your knowledgeable explanation :worship: , if so, even i love single house, i prefer to live in tall buildings if the storm will come from time to time to attack

what will you do with your beloved old and young Lee ;), bbq or other activities :wavey:

Actually, most of those houses survive but along the coast, it's always the danger of high tide.

what will you do with your beloved old and young Lee ;), bbq or other activities :wavey:

Are you talking about the long weekend here? Nothing special. We have a propane tank BBQ stove at the backyard and usually hubby grilled steak there. Less these days as it's so hot outside :p It's cooling a little bit now but still hot. We usually went shopping on Saturday though.

Mimi
09-04-2004, 03:32 AM
then i dare not to live near the coast :wavey:

i have a friend Heidi who loves bbq to extreme, she always ask us to bbq with her almost every week, but you know, HK is too hot in summar, we will all look like grilled piggy after exposing to the sun for bbq for so long  , you know not many people here in HK can have a big garden/terrace for bbq, we go to park for bbq :wavey: , so the lazy mimi prefers to go for chinese dim dims instead of bbq

why you do not go to Park, i know that usa has many beautiful parks as "yellow stone" (translated directly from chinese) :wavey:

When I lived in Hong Kong and very young, I only went to bbq at night :p

why you do not go to Park, i know that usa has many beautiful parks as "yellow stone" (translated directly from chinese) :wavey:

OK, I need to drive for 20 hours continuously to reach Yellow Stone National Park :p Grand Canyon is closer but still 4-5 hours drive.

I live in rural area. I have snake and lizard living in my front and back yard. There were wild animals running around in my neighbourhood ;) Now, tell me why I want to go to a park for bbq

Mimi
09-04-2004, 03:55 AM
hahaha, bbq at night is cooler but not enough lightings so may be you gonna eat the raw meat

oh my god, i forgot that usa is so big, have you ever read "亦舒" 's novels, she always mention yellow stone park, she describes it as very beautiful, so i would like to go there one day :wavey:

i have been to grand canyon many years ago, but unluckily my camera dropped to the floor, i did not know that it was damaged and still used it to take photos, almost half of my photos in usa lost

wow, you are very brave :worship: , i fear very much snake

you may ask Mr Lee to catch the wild animals as exercise to slim down his tummy ;), also he can use them for bbq afterwards, save a lot of monies, its perfect   :p

Lee
09-04-2004, 04:01 AM
hehe, when little Lee starts school here, the first thing they learned is how to tell a rattlesnake from non-poisonous snake and scorpion.

Those wild animals are too fast for hubby ;)

The snake living in our front yard is not poisonous so we just leave it as it may help keeping those mice away. The mice are not the kind you have in HK, they eat citrus fruit, like orange, lemon, etc. And whenever we're around, the snake will go into hiding. :)

Lee
09-04-2004, 04:05 AM
I read 亦舒 novel but difficult to find her books here. I have not yet explore Grand Canyon as we are still vacationing in areas within 3 hours drive from where we live.

IMO, Yellow Stone is not as pretty as Banff or Jasper National Park in Canada.

Mimi
09-04-2004, 04:05 AM
it is the first time that i know the school will teach you how to distinguish snake, thanks for telling me

do you need to keep a gun in your house, sorry for my bad mouth, i think you need to be careful of these wild animals, they may damage your house :wavey:

umm, the snakes, as soon as i see them, i will scream and may be faint immediatley    , i always think the snake will bite and attack people

Lee
09-04-2004, 04:06 AM
And what a bummer about your camera

Mimi
09-04-2004, 04:11 AM
亦舒 is unbelievable coz she still writes a lot of books at her old age, how can she has so many imagination

the miser mimi borrows her book from library or that my mum's friend's daughter will give me some after she read it ;)

hehe,you are too lazy :p

sorry i have never gone to Banff or jasper park

Lee

do you need to keep a gun in your house, sorry for my bad mouth, i think you need to be careful of these wild animals, they may damage your house :wavey:

Wild animals usually come out at night and they tend to stay away from human. The javalena (?sp) , like a wild pig but not exactly a pig, love to chew up our cactus in the front yard and dug up other plants but as I said, they move around at night and early morning. Coyotes also are nocturnal (?sp) animal so I never worried about them. The only trouble is when I was driving at night, I have to worry hitting them.

umm, the snakes, as soon as i see them, i will scream and may be faint immediatley    , i always think the snake will bite and attack people

You just get used to it ;) Bite is the last resort for snake. Like bear, they usually retreat if there's human around unless they are startled and thought there's no escape, then they will attack.

The first time I was startled by a scorpion inside my house, I almost jumped and I screamed. Woke up hubby and had him killed it. Now, I just calmly found a glass jar, trap it inside and let it choke/heat to death in my backyard.

Mimi
09-04-2004, 04:19 AM
hey you have a very kind heart :worship: , i will beat the pig when he eats my cactus, so you are really kind :worship: :worship:

i was given that impression that the animals will always love to bite people like crocodile, lions, wow so horrible are them

wow, you are very brave, whenver there is a flying cockroach comes to my house, i will immediatley scream and hide in my bed

Lee
09-04-2004, 04:21 AM
mimi, I have to drive half an hour to buy Chinese grocery. And a more decent one is 45 minutes. Where do you think I can find a 亦舒 novel? And when I said half an hour, it's on freeway, one that you can drive 65mph. There's hardly any Chinese living where I'm living now.

Mimi
09-04-2004, 04:24 AM
i have no guts to drive :o

i thought you may have find the novels in some bookshops ruled by chinese

do you feel a bit boring with no few chinese around you? Any relatives of you live here :wavey:

Lee
09-04-2004, 04:24 AM
I'm not kind. I have never being face to face with those javalena living in my area. I only saw when they left behind. They are wild animals and has as much right living here as human beings are. It's human invading their space actually.

Hey Mimi and Lee how are you, see that you guys are busy chatting away, so I am going to join in.

Thank God the hurricane is decreasing and I dont think we will have lots of damages - yes Lee I have heard about Russia and all the bad things going on there - the whole world is gone mad if you ask me.

We dont learn nothing from the past - and I can't say the future look any better for us - we will all stop when we kill off everybody on the earth.

It is so sad, but what can we the small people do, nothing.

I am here Mimi, thank you.

Thanks for your concern about the huricane both - it is going away and everybody is in a sigh of relief. :p

So how is your day so far Mimi, good I hope and that boss of yours.
