Worst match ever.

Cilic was very poor.

Stepanek was beyond words atrocious. Like a bastard spawn of Roitman and Robert Dee, after a long drinking session. Not a single part of his game worked.

Funny thing was, Stepanek almost dragged Cilic down to his level in the 2nd set. After missing double bps for a second break, Cilic imploded, couldn't keep the ball in court, and gifted away the breakback as well. It then went to a tiebreak, which was even worse than the rest of the match. Stepanek double faulted twice, Cilic once, and there were multiple mis-hits sent long.

Cilic is running throuhg his opponents easily and nobody is saying anything. Murray or Tipsy next for Cilic. Can cilic go even further than this?

How many winners did Stepanek hit? like 11 or something

against 46 or so from Cilic.

Cilic was **** today. He'll get eaten alive by Murray or even Tipsy.

:spit: The first set was a drubbing and Cilic played magnificent. He dropped somewhat in the 2nd and Steps finally had some space to come into his own. The only clownish part of the match was the TB, which both played atrociously, was that the only part you watched. There were some really nice exchange to be seen, in particular the second game of the 3rd set had some brilliant points on both sides.

Stepanek refrained from obnoxiousness today, I'm grateful. to Glen, this one will hurt., losing to Cilic of all people.

Marin :yeah: way to go

still look at his results thus far.

def Herynch 6-0 6-4 6-3
def Sela 6-0 6-3 6-1
and now today's match. That a total of 21 games lost in 3 matches. Pretty dominating.

Yes he will still probably lose next round but its still an impressive run.

Cilic was playing at last better than Stepanek but Stepanek forget how to hit strokes inside the baseline.

:spit: The first set was a drubbing and Cilic played magnificent.

Uh, Stepanek broke himself twice with basic errors, which Cilic had no part in. He started the match with three straight UEs.

He dropped somewhat in the 2nd.....

OK, you're joking right? :-)

Cilic had two bps to take a second break. He missed them badly. He then blew up completely, making errors left right and centre. Stepanek was still at maybe 2/10 quality, doing nothing himself, horrendous errors. Volleying like a drunk, no serve bite at all. Yet somehow, from a position of easily leading, Cilic almost gave the set away.

The tiebreak was the worst tennis I've seen all year. Cilic choked horribly, as he always does in tiebreaks. Stepanek didn't hold a single point on serve, double faulted twice, and hit two long. Cilic got double minibreak ahead, then double faulted and mis-hit one.

Good win by Marin!
But he is so up and down during matches that you never can be sure what's gonna happen next!
In next match those letdowns will be punished unlike in first three rounds!
Good luck against Murray probably!

You right, I'm the ridiculous one, when someone hits close to 50 winners in three sets, they have nothing to do with what's going on and they played atrociously. Whatever, sorry I commented.

Time to take a break, Steps. Your form is absurdly pathetic.

Cilic, by far best performance on RG 2009. He simply kills will for playing in his opponents. He rips theirs souls. They are only zombies on court. Amazing.

He and Nicole have proven to be great for each other.

Curious to see Cilic-Murray. Marin won RG juniors. Like Del Po he might be another tall man with clay power.

His movement isn't as good from what I've seen but maybe the surface is giving him confidence in terms of shotmaking.

cilic played really solid match match except finish of second set , I am not really fan of his game game but i think that he have chance against murray , murray is to passive and his balls are short and that type of game suits cilic

btw when he won junior RG he beats murray in semis :)

Marin :yeah:

should have some pretty good results left for the grass and hardcourt season as clay is not his best surface

and he shouldn't be lost against Murray either

Have you been taking English lessons off Nadal? That's a blatant rip-off from his 'amazing disaster.'

As far as taking a break goes, Steppa's probably been taking TOO MANY breaks banging Vaidisova.

Let's see if Cilic has the stones not to choke against Murray.

English lessons from Nadull? That'd be speaking like a retarded. I'm not there yet, thank you.

Once again many underestimate Cilic's performance here, he smacked Steppa a fat one, if there wasn't for the let down in the second set when he was up 4-2* with 2 bp, the score could have easily been 6/1,6/2,6/3; no chance for radek here, for a set and a half he was outplayed totally, Cilic read his serve really well, and in the rallies STepanek had no chances; yeah Hernych and Sela are clay mugs, but not losing a set says something, keep bashing Cilic some more please, allready looking forward to the 1/4 match against Gonzo....

Interesting stat but I give Murray the edge here. Good for Cilic though for doing better on clay than I ever gave him credit for.
