Andy, the Frenchiest American. http://imgsrv2.tennisuniverse.com/mtf/images/icons/icon10.gif

Into the third round without dropping a set, keep it going clay monster. :drive:

Roddick is going to make his first 4th round showing at RG, he has Gicquel next, so he will make cassoulet out of him.

Minar is a cow. Andy shouldn't take too much from this win.

Roddick hitting the ball pretty hard. Nice to see, even if it's against someone like Minar.

I saw Andy sliding around a bit on the clay and looking like he kind of knew what he was doing. It was a very strange experience.

I don't see any reason why Andy can't make the second week here. He's playing with some emotion and can actually rip his forehand a little bit on clay because of the bounce(he could do it on hard courts at one time....but not any longer. Shame.).

Is Roddick going to lose a set in this tournament?

I don't think Andy will ever have a win on clay that you can take anything out of.

Don't tempt fate but so far the draw has been kind. I think the greatest challenge will be Monfils if they both get there that is.

Yeah.....Minar is just a volatile shmack......had managed to attune his game in the 3rd,but wasted 2 hidden set points and it was all clear......nothing spectacular from Roddick at all but still big congrats for achieving best ever result on RG.

This is exactly what I was thinking while I was watching the match. "Hmm... Andy is sliding... and it doesn't even look that ridiculous! Look at you, Andy!!"

It's nice to see that Andy is really into the French too, he seems excited and also seems to care. Love that Grosjean called him "the French-est American" Lol. It also cracks me up that those two are such good buddies. How did that happen?

Sidenote: Minar isn't looking so hot for a pro athelete. I thought my dad wandered onto the court for a minute there.

That Rolland Garros trophy has Roddick's name written all over it. He is looking good out there. He might actually get his 2nd slam at the French Open the way things are going with him. I think he is looking better on clay than Hard Courts this year.

Pity Del Potro and Roddick weren't switched around.

Roddick/Fed QF would be nice to see in the French Open. :D

So I think they go way back. They appear at each other's charity events quite a lot. http://sports.espn.go.com/sports/tennis/french09/columns/story?columnist=ford_bonnie_d&id=4208614

The most insane thing in the universe would be if Roddick wins the French Open in straight sets. Would blow me mind.

Or not. Mwhahahaha....because I've secretly changed all the courts at RG with decoturf III...then I just painted them orange. It's like a taster's choice commercial but with more aces and service winners.

This run reinvests the phrase "cupcake draw" with fresh meaning. But the main thing is that this should prime Roddick for the fourth round, hopefully against Monfils. That would be a great one to see on Chatrier, and with the American returning to his 2003/2004 form, he'd have a chance.

Roddick does have a good draw at this year's French open. This is his biggest chance to get his best result at Roland Garros.

This run reinvests the phrase "cupcake draw" with fresh meaning. To be fair, he's gotten lucky with good draws at RG before - more than once. This time maybe he'll actually take advantage of it. he says he's having fun on the court so that's a good sign

You sound like pattymac. You sure he's in round 3 cos he's fitter and not because of his draw? Maybe it's his marriage?

He really should beat Gicquel, though.

I would not be shocked if Andy makes quarters, hell Coria once did quite well in Wimbledon and Ljubicic made semi's two years ago at RG, it would not be impossible to imagine.

Ljubicic's draw at RG was the definition of a cakewalk. Didn't face a top 50 player till the semi's.

I'm the biggest Andy fan there is, but even I know that his best is going to be if he beats Monfils in the 4th (which will be a tall order, because he struggles with him on hard). Andy can't beat Roger on clay. Though I would love him to. :(

He shared that draw with Roddick, they were in the same quarter ;)
