does anyone know what is the record for most consecutive sets won at the french open is? i did some research and found that borg had a 41 consecutive sets winning streak from the final set in the 1979 final through the entire 1980 tournament where he didnt drop a set and only losing a set in the 1981 final against lendl. nadal is currently on a 29 consecutive set streak from the final 2 sets in the 2007 final through 2008 tournament where he didnt lose a set to currently winning 2 straight sets wins in this year's tournament. what is the overall record at the french(mens and womens)? i think open era stats would be easier to find out.

i know nadal broke borg's record for most consecutive matches won winning his 29th match in the 1st round and broke evert's record for overall wins (men and women). does anyone know if this has been brought up or know what the actual record is?

I very much doubt this record belongs to anyone, but Borg. Unless we start looking at ladies' results.

You're right it's probably Borg's 41 from 1979-81. Nadal can equal or break it this year if his form improves.

In the Open Era, it is Borg. In fact, it's the longest streak of consecutive sets won at any Slam in the Open Era. Second is Federer with 30 in a row won at the Australian Open.

wow are u sure? i cant believe there hasnt been made more of this record of borg's. nadal is currently at 29 active streak.
do u have a source?

I have a lot of statistics laying around on my computer that I've compiled over the years (see some of the stat threads). I'll put one up about this particular streak in a while. It's also not too difficult to check since a player can only win a maximum of 41 sets in a row at any slam WITHOUT running through a slam without any sets lost (barring a walkover). Winning slams without dropping any sets has been done only a few times in the Open Era.
