Nico had a miss-step at the net and hurt his foot. Had to retire.
Nole looked in good shape though.

Coming from a Djokovic fan, that is hilarious stuff.

Back to the match, Djokovic was playing quite well considering the shit conditions.

Too bad Lapentti couldn't last long enough to make Fakervic retire.

Poor Lapentti

I hope Nole gets more court time in the 2nd round. He deals with the strong wind and the slippery clay situation well. :yeah:

Djokovic unlikely to drop a set before the final.

I'm not so sure,i think he have a tough qf against either Delpo or Tsonga and if he reach the seli he'll likely face Fed:shrug: but it's still early he needs to play and win another 3 or 4 matches before any of that can happen:lol:

Too bad Lapentti had to retire. Hope he recovers soon :)

Nole looked in control just enough for the introductory match. Routine.

I scanned the scoreboard frantically after I got home from work, and for a moment, saw 1+1 and then thought 2. Then I saw it was Lapentti that had retired. Djokovic still has a way to go for the career round retirement slam (R1, R2, R3, R4, F), but time is on his side.

Before the retirement, Novak looked really solid. Not really tested, though.

That sucks. Lapentti is great on clay and fun to watch. I thought he might challenge Djokovic. Hope the injury isn't bad.

Good for Djokovic though. The less energy spent in the early rounds, the better.

That injury looked rather nasty imho, and I got the feeling he already had some difficulties with that ankle before the match had even started, as the mis-step he made initially didn't look that bad - but it was obvious he was in pain thereafter, and his movement was entirely off.
He did try to keep going, for which he deserves a lot of credits. Get well soon Nico.

Good for Djokovic, indeed. :)

Career round retirement slam. Hilarious. All he needs is a QF and a SF.

Too bad for Lapentti; seems like a bad ankle injury! Nole was in control of the match from the get go, but I would not jump to any conclusions. Let's just wait for him to keep on winning. As far a winning RG, I'm not to sure about that he has some major obstacles to overcome!!!!!!!!

Not really, he needs R128 and R16. All of the others R64, R32, QF, SF and F are covered.
