Indeed it's Andy's 4th R2 appearance at RG. He just keeps breaking records.

 More importantly, I'm kind of disappointed he's not wearing that plaid hat he wore a few years ago. It would match the detail on his shirt nicely.

really gutsy effort here by Roddick... to come to Europe... dug deep at the important moments... the handshake was a highlight...

First things first. He's aiming for an unprecedented 2nd R3 appearance.

Let's not establish his GOAT status just yet.

To think this guy was actually ranked in the top 5 for most of these Grand Slams .

Funny as this may sound, I wouldn't be surprised seeing him take a set off Federer. Now that he's been owned about 20 times, he's getting closer and closer. Also, he's had a decent clay season so far by his standards.

Then again, to get to Federer he may have to face Monfils first.

He has a cakewalk to the Round of 16. He should quit tennis forever he fails to make the round of 16.

Hahahaaha I LOVE this part, was he close at the 8th match, or the 16th? Maybe the last one, where he was crushed 6-1 in the third, was the closest?!

He has NO chance against Federer.

Anyone knows if it's the firt time that Andy won in Lenglen court?

I'm curious for a historical court's matches of Andy in Roland Garros. I think everytime he played in Lenglen, he loses until today, and have a good record in Chatrier. And the court speed are different (it's true, not a theory ;) ) because the composition of clay in Lenglen(don't have concrete under clay).

I'm sure his matches against Todd Martin, Chang, and Tsonga were on Chatrier, and probably his first match in 2001 that he won (against Draper? they showed it at some point today) was on a much smaller court... and even the 2 DC matches he lost many years ago were on Lenglen if I am not mistaken.

That's retarded. :o Look at his results in the other slams. he never loses a lot of points in the clay season because he doesn't HAVE a lot of points from clay tournaments.

I'm sure about some matches, but not every!

It's only 12 matches, so it's easy make a list:

2009
1R - Romain Jouan - W 6-2 6-4 6-2 - Lenglen

2007
1R - Igor Andreev - L 6-3 4-6 3-6 4-6 - Lenglen

2006
1R - Albert Martin - L 4-6 5-7 0-1 ret - Lenglen (not sure)

2005
1R - Jo-Wilfried Tsonga - W 6-3 6-2 6-4 - Chatrier
2R - Jose Acasuso - L
6-3 6-4 4-6 3-6 6-8 - Lenglen

2004
1R - Todd Martin - W 7-6 6-4 7-5 - Chatrier
2R - Olivier Mutis - L
-3 3-6 7-6(5) 3-6 2-6 - Lenglen

2003
1R - Sargis Sargsian - L 7-6(3) 1-6 2-6 4-6 - ???? (I don't know)

2002
1R - Wayne Arthurs - L 6-4 6-7(14) 6-4 5-7 3-6 - ??? (don't know)

2001
1R - Scott Drapper - W 6-2 6-4 6-4 - smaller court
2R - Michael Chang - W 5-7 6-3 6-4 6-7(5) 7-5 - Chatrier
3R - Lleyton Hewitt - L 7-6(6) 4-6 2-2 RET - ?Chatrier? (probably, but i don't know)

So, all 5 victories (except today) was out of Lenglen court! Or something wrong?

As much as I know, it's right.. he definitely lost some matches off of Lenglen but I think today was the first he had won there

Not RG matches but pretty sure the 2002 DC semifinal matches were played on Lenglen, both of which he also lost

I remember, years ago, saw Wilander explain the differences of Lenglen's court in Eurosport. Majority of complex have concrete under clay, needs only stir a little to see that, but in Lenglen not.

I don't know in detail, but Lenglen is slower, however I think the bounce was smaller too or effect, I don't know exactly. So, the perfect for Nadal, for example, was Chatrier because the big bounce.

This not explain everything, but helps understand some loses of Roddick in RG.

Amazing world class claycourt performance by rodDick beating a french nobody ranked 305. This result is proof that andy is the defacto winner of roland garros.
