Murray just dominated every aspect of the game, hitting soooo many winners and aces. Chela will struggle to comeback from a massacre like this.

after the first 7 games of the match, Chela was already dead on his feet, hardly bothered to move around the court, resorted to ball bashing and was out both mentally and physically.

Murray didn't have to do anything special to win, was never out of his comfort zone, with the kind of draw he has he is a lock on the QF with Gonzo being the first real challenge for him.

not much to take out of this match IMO.

Nicely done.

i want to see more of that taking control of points in the next match.

Very nice performance.

Chela isn't up to much these days, we know, so would be silly to go overboard.

Still, Andy took care of business very effectively today. So that's good then.

Murray is extremly talented (unlike Nadal or Djokovic).

I don't know why he decides to play a moonballers game when he has such talent (that he displayed today). Great serving, winners all over the court and lovely variety.

Wow, that was really impressive. I don't remember the last time I saw Andy Murray strike his forehand so aggressively and so well! This is the type of match that serves as a declaration to the rest of the field that he means business and that he intends to hold up to his seeding here.

After this kind of performance, I think he might. But it's obviously going to get much harder in the Round of 16 and QFs.

It doesn't matter how Chela played, or the result. Murray finally started to play aggressively and dominating the rallies, just like he should. If he continues like this and get use to it he might fulfill his potential on clay too.

As good as muzza has played on clay

Love it when he plays aggressive like this - so much quality

The only question is can he play like this for 6 matches on the trot. If so he stands a reasonable chance of giving nadal a good match

Most promising shot was the winner he hit on the slide - Alex is teaching him well it appears

He was making few unnecessary mistakes while attacking, because this is the 1st time he plays like this for prolonged time on clay, but he will have few more matches to tune it up before he plays against a serious opponent. With a game like this he comes top favorite for SF in that quarter. Hopefully he won't revert to retrieving again when he faces Cilic or Gonzalez.

Quintessential MTF thread: the most recent match most accurately reflects player skill.

It was a great performance. Enjoy it.

But Nadal does this routinely. So far Murray has done it once.

Let's keep things in perspective shall we?

By no mode of reasoning can we go from this match to Andy seriously challenging the Clay Triumvirate of Nadal, djoko, and Federer.

Let's just watch and hope.

Murray looked happy which is more important than anything cos this claycourt season has been a rollercoaster for him struggling with his movement, tactics and overall gameplan. Not sure if Miles and Alex share the same ideas on how Murray should play on clay.

His game looks about right to me atm, it was a lovely clinical display he put on, but he needs to have the confidence to go for his shots against agresssive players not just the neither here nor there characters like Chela.
