Good win for Marat! He got it done, through 2 the 2nd Round!!

Sidorenko was standing 2 back on Marat's Serve!

Come on Safin!!:):)

Sidorenko was up 4-2 in the third but choked away the lead. Marat had some awesome outbursts today and didn't play well but it was enough to get the job done.

An adequate performance by Safin, but nothing to trouble the top guys. His glory days are long gone.

well you got there in a roundabout way in the end, hehe

Sidorenko was up 4-1 :p and Marat, unlike Verdasco, did not promise to be a threat to the top guys  He won and that's all that matters. GL in the next round, Marat!

6-4 6-4 6-4 against Sidorenko. With this play it would be 4-6 4-6 4-6 against f.e. Verdasco

:yeah: for the result, but I missed the entire match  It never showed up on RG SB and whenever I tried to start the stream on Tennis Channel, it was just blank. Twilight zone.

It did.

Obviously nobody expects great things from Safin in this tournament but given his poor results this year I'm glad he didn't go out in the first round. He loves this tournament, it's his last year and I even detected some smiles when he won. Good for you, marat!

Marat was sub-par, really. :o ... and in a bad mood.

Whenever the end of the set was getting closer Sidorenko started to play more badly, allowing Marat to get out of tough situations. He did provide some entertaining defense though.

Almost lost a set to a bye :o

Even by Marat' standards it was a horrible match.

Not on mine, perhaps the browser went wild from the p roxy stuff or whatever, but I was also checking the stream because it showed it as current match, but nothing, zilch, nada.

Well done Maratsky. First win since Hewitt in Monte-Carlo.

As long as he never goes a set and two breaks up, he can always win.

very spooky because this is the same scoreline Wayne Ferreira beat John McEnroe by at the Australian Open in 1992 in their quarter final match... 64 64 64... it will be interesting to hear what Safin has to say about that match in '92 because McEnroe retired later that year after reaching the semi-finals of Wimbledon later that year losing to Agassi in a blockbuster semi that had all the people wondering how a baseliner could get the job done on the green stuff... fortunately Agassi knew a little bit about the green stuff from his teenage years although that experience usually cost him $50 a bag and not a trip across the Atlantic... Safin reached the semi final of Wimbledon last year, which might mean that Safin believes that expectation is over, yet, does it mean he should be good for a semi result at this years French Open like Henman did in 2004 and Rafter did in 1997, which was pretty freaky because these guys were serve volleyers...?!

strange days...

Ouanna shouldn't be much of a problem but Gonzalez might put up a better fight..

On court he looked a bit twitchy, but he looked relaxed and gave a nice, calm interview after.

Safin hit the ball well so good win especially to do it in three from being a break down in the third
