Totally sucks, although I'm kinda enjoying watching Gabashvili being all RSG-like in between points. In attitude that is, def. not in looks. Rafa is trying to get this match in the pocket fast so he can watch Barca. No clue what David thinks he's doing.

David hasn't been playing great this year. We all know it and the Toad is not exactly an easy match up. But hey, there's always next year.:D

As for Rafa losing to the toad ...... :speakles:
Soderling outplayed Rafa and Rafa didn't play like Rafa. But I do think it's an absolutely deserved win by the toad.

Will post the draw later but I just hope this isn't tempting fate :tape:

David Ferrer, who has been one of the form players of the clay season, is in the same quarter of the draw as big-serving Roddick, seemingly giving him a straightforward route through to the quarter-finals where Djokovic is likely to be waiting.

I don't normally root for Delpo for any other reason, except as a protest vote against Djoko. Ferrer Sets Monfils Clash

World No. 7 David Ferrer, a two-time Roland Garros quarter-finalist, stormed into the fourth round on Friday as he dismissed Ukrainian No. 31 seed Sergiy Stakhovsky 6-1, 6-1, 6-3 in one hour and 36 minutes.

The Spaniard, who is yet to drop a set in his three matches this week, further turned up the heat on his campaign as he hit 22 winners to just nine unforced errors and broke serve six times from seven opportunities.

The 29-year-old Ferrer came into Roland Garros as one of the most in-form players on clay this season, having won the Acapulco title (d. Almagro) in February and finished runner-up to Rafael Nadal in the Monte-Carlo and Barcelona finals last month.

Bwaahaaa .... I'm super confident. Today Clowny boy, next up Roger and then Fognini. VAMOSSSSSSSSSS!!!!!!!!!!!!! :)

Who's bwaahaaing now? :)

Damn the French Tennis Association for not having lights. I mean, this is a Slam for C sake and it's Chatrier. (Sorry to all French citizens posting here but I can't help myself)

I disagree, that the delay doesn't bode well for David. He's up 2-0 in the fourth so he has a cushion. (He's got a cushion alright. ;)
Monfils is unpredictable - a wild talent but not consistent and not all that thoughtful on court. David has the mental and emotional edge and he will have had the benefit of a powwow with Javi who hopefully will have reminded him not to stay 5 feet behind the baseline and rally away with Mongoose but stay on the attack.

I could be very very wrong but I think he can pull it out.

Oh,David! I hope you win! Beat that arrogant clown Monfils! I would be torn between Ferrer and Federer, since I like both.

I missed the last few games but I agree. Best match of the tournie for me to date; my other fav matches that I have watched most of are: Nadal vs Isner, and Djoke vs Pony.

So sad our chico lost  After this fight back from 2:5 to 5:5 he would have deserved to win!

But well, maybe its better he didnīt anyway ;) Cos in the "Road to RG" interview Ferru said they were joking in his team and he wanted to shave his hair if he reaches the final... So now we at least donīt have to be afraid ;)

Well, I guess it's for the best. I hope Roger creams Clown Boy in straights! I'm glad that Rafa beat Ljubicic in straights. I'd love to see another Roger and Rafa final.

I am so sick of Djoko, Murray and the legion of qualifiers, especially Fognini, who has a reputation for attracting controversy, who the commentators are constantly yakking about. Who would have thought Sod the Toad would be one of Ferru's, Rafa's and Roger's least objectionable opponents of this FO? He's just playing his matches and going through without a lot of fuss. He could never be one of my favorites by a long shot, but he is now much less abrasive than Djoko.

Poor David! He always tries so hard, but in the end, it never seems to be enough. I know why I love this guy. I feel for him so much. David is a good guy and a good player. Monfils is a clown-and not a funny one-more of an irritating one. The guy wastes more energy than anyone else on court running, strutting and prancing around.

Totally agree with you...don't understand how this no talented clow can beat such fantastic players as Ferru, Nalby or Roddick...it's beyond me

OMG...David's 1st semi-final in Roland Garros. I am sure he's dreamt of this day for many years. He played fantastic against Andy. Hope he does well against Rafa, even though Rafa is the clear favorite. :)
btw, i didn't even know Ferrer had gotten engaged...apparently he is to Marta. :) don't know when their big day is but this is just awesome news.

I think the two losses to Rafa in Barca and Rome affected Ferru today, after missing those two early break points.

I hope he isn't too disappointed by this as he has played excellently throughout RG. Hopefully he can reach his first Wimbledon QF this year. He was so close in 2010 against Soderling.

The match against Murray was amazing... I remember how devastated I was last year when he lost to Monfils after a really tough match, I was so happy to see him play a great match against Murray and WIN this time!

Then, well, the match against Rafa... I have to say, I did not have very high hopes given how Rafa had been playing until then... but still, it was excruciating to watch. David was playing so well, and yet, there was just nothing he could do. Rafa was extremely impressive.
What hurt me the most was the comments about how David had been crushed, and how he had supposedly played badly (a couple of idiots even suggested he had played "badly" on purpose because Rafa was supposed to win... how ridiculous).
I thought he played beautifully, I just think in this case, Rafa's killer lift, the fact that it's particularly troublesome for David because of its height, the fact that the strong wind amplified it, and simply enough, the fact that Rafa was playing at an incredible level... that was just too much.

Well, I hope I can see David in Wimbledon soon :)
