Well, elbow injuries usually take several months to heal.
He started practicing in early May, and he said he had no more pain.
But apparently he still feels uncomfortable in the elbow. His next tournament is Queens, but I think it's best for him not to return to tour until he feels 100%.
He was going to play an exhibitoin in Paris this week. I think he replaced Nalbandian in that event, so I guess he was planning to play RG until fairly recently.
Hope it's not that the pain came back...!

It's a pity though because RG is his favourite slam...

Talking out of the ass, are we? The main reason he has so many problems by now years after the mono is that he aggravated it by playing a match when he already had it. He's supposed to play with his health again for the sake of "grabbing some easy cash" :smash:

With respect, I sincerely hope you are not comparing his situation to your gambling...that would be morally reprehensible. If that wasn't your intention, I duly apologise.

Anyway, once again, I hope Mario can recover from his latest setback.

Well,

As I understood he is not ill at the moment, just doesn't feel confident enough to play at top level.
That is much different from being not able to play because he is ill/injured.
Probably needs two-three weeks more than he hoped for him to be in solid shape.

He is OK now, just need some more practise.

With his luck , he would have probably need to play Nadal or Fed in the first round of RG anyway :)

This new unlucky turn of events in Ancic's tennis career is balanced by the fact that he has made use of his injury times out and created a fine professional career in law.

Unlucky with injury, smart in his non-tennis life. He's a great role model for young players.

i just think people tend to overreact a little bit. he had the luck to earn quite some money in a short time. so i wouldn't say he has bad luck. and being a lawyer isn't a bad job either.

Tennis is not all about the top 4, and it's not all about the wins. For many fans it's about the players and the way they play the game. Ancic appeals to a lot of players, and to answer you're question MANY people give a crap whether he plays or not. Not everyone here is a glory hunter and is looking for masters title wins. They simply just enjoy seeing that player play, win or lose.

Shame for Mario that his career has been interrupted consistently due to injuries.

That said, I don't think he was ever likely to make the same impact that he did a few years ago. The game has moved on, which is unfortunate for him. I can still see him being a solid top 20 player, though.

True, I can see your point. :)

Obviously Ancic is 'lucky' to have a second career to turn to (although he did make his own luck), but these days it is too easy for us to forget that he was intending to have a strong tennis career first, and that has pretty much been taken away from him...worse that the problems all started when he was at the very peak of his playing abilities. Yes, he has earned a good amount of money, but money isn't everything.

Ancic was playing RG and Wimby quarters when he made it to TOP10, just bad luck, doubt he will ever pick up where he left, but for sure he should be able to string another good run at Wimbledon, he is still young....

Looks like it could be another withdrawal, would be a bad one for the public we know Gael normally plays very well in Paris plus he has the charisma to really get the crowds in supporting him, maybe he will still play though, only a doubt.
