http://www.barclaysatpworldtourfinals.com/en/news/nadalqualifies.aspNadal, the reigning ATP World Tour Champion, has qualified for the Barclays ATP World Tour Finals for the fifth consecutive year after a brilliant start to the season. The 22-year-old Spaniard won his sixth Grand Slam title at the Australian Open in January and three ATP World Tour Masters 1000 titles in Indian Wells, Monte-Carlo, Rome as well as reaching the final in Madrid. Nadal also won a fifth consecutive title in Barcelona and will enter Roland Garros as the overwhelming favourite, where he will attempt to win a record fifth straight crown.

"I am very happy to have officially qualified for the ATP World Tour Finals. To qualify for the event in London is great as it was one of my goals of the season and clearly something important that shows that this season has already been a great success for me. London is a city that brings me great memories since last year I won Wimbledon and Queen's and the fans have really supported me each year that I've played there. I am really looking forward to this fantastic event that I am sure will be a great success," said Nadal.

On the ATP site, there's a picture of Murray signing a board signifying his qualification into the Masters. What I don't like is that Federer is at the top! Nadal qualified before Federer so Nadal should be on top.

I know it's fussy but it bugs me all the same.

I can't find the points distribution anywhere. Anyone knows what you get for a RR-win, a SF win and overall win?

Any doubt about Roddick's participation ?Pretty sure he won't play, per his twitter he only started "jogging slowly" a few days ago. Also Bob Bryan tweeted to him something about "it won't be the same without you in London" which he later deleted. First alternate (at least) should definitely suit up and be ready to play ;)

Do any of you know if Roddick will play and if not when he have to cancel the WTF? :)
I mean if he can wait until the last minute or if it has to be done a few days before? :)

Even if he's supposed to inform them earlyish by the rules (I've no idea if that's the case), he can always just claim injury the day before. The alternate travels regardless, so it doesn't matter too much.

Interesting draw ceremony tomorrow...hoping for something like this:

2 Nadal
4 Murray
6 Davydenko
8 Soderling

Labama, that would be an ideal group to be in for Söderling. Since i can see him beating all three if he plays well. :)

The full line-up for Group A sees US Open champion Juan Martin del Potro of Argentina and Spaniard Fernando Verdasco join Federer and Murray, while 2008 runner-up Nikolay Davydenko of Russia and Swede Robin Soderling complete Group B with Nadal and Djokovic.

Group A
Roger Federer (SUI)
Andy Murray (GBR)
Juan Martin del Potro (ARG)
Fernando Verdasco (ESP)

Group B
Rafael Nadal (ESP)
Novak Djokovic (SRB)
Nikolay Davydenko (RUS)
Robin Soderling (SWE)

Federer, who captured four titles from five straight finals between 2003-2007, will also have the chance to avenge his US Open final defeat to Del Potro. Djokovic, this season’s ATP World Tour match wins leader, faces stiff competition if he is to defend his title from Davydenko, in a repeat of the 2008 final, and Nadal, who the Serbian beat in the semi-finals of the BNP Paribas Masters in Paris last week. In another intriguing clash, Nadal will meet debutant Soderling for the first time since the Swede handed Nadal his first-ever defeat at Roland Garros in May.

Federer and Nadal are in a battle to be crowned 2009 ATP World Tour Champion. Nadal currently trails Federer by 945 points in the South African Airways 2009 ATP Rankings, but with 1,500 points available for an undefeated champion at the Barclays ATP World Tour Finals there is all to play for.

I guess Monfils had accepted at first because JWT was dubious, but JWT confirmed yesterday his wrist is fine and he will be in London, so apparently the ATP is calling guys out of the top 15 already to find a 2nd alternate.

Edit: Monfils turned down too.

On which surface will they play in London ??? Of Course Hardcourt but which one ???? Deco Turf, Greenset, Rebound Ace, Gerflor or whatever ???????

No one ???? C'mon that's disgusting. An ATP Championchip event and no one knows on what surface they play. How should i bet on games ???? I think guys like Davydenko or even Verdasco are much better on surfaces like Deco Turf or Rebound Ace then Greenset or Gerflor or whatever. It's almost impossible to bet on someone when you don't know the exact surface. For example i think davydenko is a very dangerous player on a normal Hard Court but on a faster one i think he has no chance. The little things make the difference when so much talent come together.
