Mimi

hopefully angiel has a job to work on now, since the economic conditions are so bad now, some of my old colleagues are jobless now

i just asked my computer man to un-ban me from MTF last Monday, but he said should the virus come back, he will ban me from MTF again, so I just pray that this virus was gone forever

Hi people :) How are you?

I was very surprised watching Roger`s win against Rafa in Madrid final, but I think Rafa will be ready to defend his title in Paris. He has got one free week to rest. However he shouldn`t forget about plannig his tournaments, he and his uncle are very stupid sometimes. Why did he play four tournaments in a row (Monte Carlo, Barcelona, Rome, Madrid)??? It improves only the possibility of another injuries:rolleyes: I hope his game will be in top level against Djokovic and Roger at Roland Garros :)

hi greg :D

pfff, you are right, this uncile toni and rafa are so foolish, they should either skip Barcelona or Madrid, now he is injured and may not be able to defend his FO title . I guess either Roger or Nole may win, and our poor Pete's records will go :mad:

by the way, how is Univrrsity and life? your fellow tennis player (sorry i never can remember their names :o) was playing well in Serbia, how is he doing now? :wavey:

I`m fine. In the first half of June I should be free and finally have holidays (two-three hard weeks including exams):)

Lukasz Kubot reached final in Serbia (lost to Djokovic 3:6,6:7), he was LL, but showed very solid tennis. Now he is playing in FO qualies and beat his first opponent.

Mimi

thats great, I wish that he can get to the main draw :wavey:

Barcelona is Nadal's favourite tournament (his hometown Mallorca is an island off the coast of Barcelona, thus, that's like the home tournament for him) and Madrid is the biggest tournament in Spain, so he's under the pressure to play there. He had a W/O both in Barcelona and Madrid so it's not really that tiring. It's only because he and Djokovic had a very long battle in SF that cost him the title in Madrid. He has a whole week to recover and with Slam, he has dayoff every other day so it's really no big deal.

I watched the final and was very impressed with Kubot. If he stays consistent, he will jump up the ranking of ATP real fast. Good luck in RG for him.

Rainer has a magic run in Wimbledon last year (reached SF lost to Nadal although I missed all the matches while I was in Canada and without any access to tennis matches :tape:) Once his points from Wimbledon fell off, his ranking will take a deep punch and probably won't have entry in many ATP events and he'll probably retire.

Lee Jr. now  is 13 and a few inches taller than me. A typical teenager that drives parents crazy, worry, etc.

Are you still having the same job?

My hubby's company switched about 70% of the work force to India. His company has an office in Hyderabad and most of his team members are there  So he has to be up at 7 in the morning to have net-conference with them. :p

There are many online streams to watch tennis on computer this year, so if you have fast enough internet access, you can watch many matches on line.

wow, thats like a proud mother ;)

Not when I had to keep buying him new trousers and shoes :p

Ya, i'm still with the same job. so does your hubby comes to India any time.

No. His partner went once over there about 1 1/2 year ago when the department just formed. It's not really convenient travelling since we're basically half the world away. Flying in either directions requires changing planes twice and took around 24 hours. Last time his partner was there, the office was very worried his safety. He had a driver picked him up from the airport and only drove him to and from his hotel and office. Not allowing him went anywhere. :tape:

Usually, the company has members of the team travelled here. Some of the staff there used to work here but moved back to live in India.

better to explain in Chinese, mimi 一向神經質,尤其近年工作壓力大,很少事都令我情緒激動, but actually i always was not a calm person, already jumping up and down as early as the date I watched Pete play:scared:, so i guess i am not suitable for watching my favourites playing coz i may suffer a stroke during the match :help::lol:

mimi, go find a yoga class. or study Zen. I am serious here. I know Hong Kong is a pressure cooker, thus, you need to learn how to relax. Especially I know you don't have much around your family. Learn counting to 10. If still not calm down, count another 10.

thanks again, I will listen to your advice, try to be more calm and not over-reacting :p

OMG:confused: This Roland Garros is horrible and unpredictable. Djokovic lost, Rafa lost, so Roger should win the title and equal Pete`s record:eek::rolleyes::sad:

I hope maybe Monfils, Del Potro and Murray are able to defeat him ;) Roger was in danger yesterday against Haas and he is really beatable. That`s for sure.

:bigcry::sobbing::tears::hysteric::crying2: no Greg, Roger is sure win, even though he struggled a bit, but he still won and this matters, i think its the same for the remaining matches, now he for sure is greater than Pete with the FO title

Nole and Rafa were playing too much pre-RG tourneys, mentally and physically tired, while Roger is more fresh, he only played 3 tourneys and lost before finals in two of them :wavey:

my dear Greg, i feel the same too, but life goes on, and after all, Roger really has better achievements on clay than Pete, we have to give him credit:wavey:

i just wish Soldering can manage to win a few games and not a completel blow-out, roger is sure win when he gets to the final, we all know this, of the 5 slams final lost, he only lost to nadal, he is not afraid of Soldering, especially he has 9:0 head to head leading, if your heart cannot take this, better not to watch the match and the internet for a week:hug::hug:

p.s. all the good signs are showing for Roger, agassi is going to give him the trophy, he won at the "old" age of 29, while Roger at almost 28, AGassi of course wanted Roger to win, coz he wants Pete's records to be erased:rolleyes:

Hello everyone, I am new here. :wavey:

Pete is my first tennis idol.

Yesterday was disaster. Someone equaled my Pete's record and it is the person who beated Pete in Wimbledon 2001. I still can remember how sad I was on that day when I was 17.

I know the record will be broken sooner or later, but I do not expect it's coming so soon. The record should stay at least 10 years!!!

I hate people saying he is greater than Pete. No Way!:sobbing::bigcry::fiery:

I never like Federer, yes because all the record and sccessor stuff and also he beated Pete in 2001, after 2001 I never watched Pete's games in Wimbledon centre court. (He had bad 2002 Wimbledon.) My favourite player and my favourite tournament, all was gone from that day. It really hurt and it is because Roger Federer. Now he equaled Pete's record in French Open.... heartbroken again.:bigcry:

Sorry, I am too emotional. I really need to talk to someone. Hope Pete can talk to me and said:"Grow up, girl. You are not 17 years old." But I doubt I will feel better!?

by the way, there is something which I really admire Nole, he is always gracious on defeats and his talent on languages stunned me, he seems to know English/German/Italian/Serbian? language talent just like Roger :worship:

Don't feel like to response in GM :p

Novak trained in Germany before he turned pro. That's why he understands German but he doesn't speak fluently and so not publicly. His girlfriend finished university in Italy, probably that's why he's fluent in Italian. But yes, he's very talented in languages.

yup, even i have learnt Englishf for ages, and French for a few years, still failing to understand what the actors/actresses speak in movies without sub-titles :o, my only talent is eating :p

its unbelievable that he is still with his girl friend for so many years, even he is now so successful and seems they are not always seeing each other i.e. one in Germany training and one in Italy studying, he is so loyal with his girl friend, Jelena is a lucky girl :p

It's different listening to English on movie than talking in English. And you need to force yourself to not watching subtitles. When I was working in Hong Kong, an insurance company owned by Hong Kong Bank, my boss was English, the general manager was Aussie and the assistant GM was Kiwi. :rolls: Most of the time, I had absolutely no idea what they were talking during meetings. :o Considered myself lucky there was no Scotts.

Novak and Jelena are living in Monte Carlo together now. Jelena graduated and is working in Monte Carlo. Although Novak travels around the world most of the time. Jelena is not a tennis groupie and she's a very smart girl, has a career herself. She usually joins Novak on weekends if he's playing in Europe.

Mimi

I think writing English is easiest while listening is the most difficult:eek:

yup Scott is very difficult to understand, many years ago, i went to Scotland with my friend, her boss showed us around for one day, i could hardly understand what he said :o

its good that Novak lives with Jelena instead of his crazy dad :p

I like Roddick's speech after the match: "Pete, I tried to hold him, I really tried." As a Pete's fan, it was really nice to hear that.

I understand he really tried to win a slam or win a match for himself against Federer, not really tried to hold the recorde for Pete. :p

But anyway, I like Roddick from this match. He did give all he can and performed unbelievable great.

He deserved the win and hope he can win another slam another day soon.

Yes, Roger is a great champion, he is unbelievable player, but Pete is still great (in my heart he will be the best tennis player ever - always!!!). Pete will be the greatest for me despite Roger will have 18 or even 20 Slams. It doesn`t matter for me. I have a big respect for the Swiss and his achievements, but Pete is Pete.

I think Sampras was playing in the toughest 90s era with wonderful champions like Agassi, Becker, Edberg, Lendl, Ivanisevic, Rafter, Courier, Chang, Krajicek, Kafelnikov... Roger has only Nadal, Djokovic, Murray and maybe Roddick. It`s not the same. He is a legend, but he is also very lucky winning every Slams.

I`m staying at home, but my summer holidays began three days ago when I passed all my exams :)

:yippee::hug: great passed all your exams, I wish you are going to get good results, are you planning to travel? i used to travel once every year, but may be i am getting aging, i did not travel last year, and this year, at first i was planning to go to Switzerland, but i am getting lazy and don't have strong will to travel, may be I will stay at home and watch us open since i have coverage this year? but due to time difference, i don't think i can watch too much

he definitely will have at least 19, us open this year and you know, our pete who is less injury free and physically fresh as Roger, still won a slam at 31 and roger is ony 28 this year, presumably that he at least won 1 slam for the next three years, there will be 19 :help::banghead:, why why why , Roddick, Nole, Murray all are so useless in winning slams :help::banghead:

there is no denial that Roger is a great champion, but Pete is not far away from him, why to priase him like he is god and put yourself down

are you in Summar holidays? :wavey:

But that is probably why we like Pete so much. ;)

He won his last Slam as not being a favourite and put all his efforts to make it. I can understand why he really doesn't care the record, because he played the tennis for himeself, not for the record.

Sometimes I think Federer is too eager to win something and he really wanna broke the record and being a great great player etc. He doesn't care so much about his opponents, like AO this year, he cried when Rafa won. I don't get it until now. If he is mature enough, he should try to hold it like Roddick did yesterday. It's Rafa's big day, he can cry but not in that ceremony.

Another stupid reason for me not like Federer is he sometimes badmouths to my another favourite player, Djokovic. His remarks are just a little bit sour grape most of time. For me, Federer is gracious only when he won and it is not true gracious.

No matter how many GS he will win finally, Pete is just simply the best. His spirit is the best. He is my standard to rate a great champion, and no one can compete him even Federer won 15 GS now, in my opinion.:)

Sorry if here is anyone like Federer.:p

don't worry, none of us like Federer here , and as you said I do agree that Roger is a great champion, and i do think he is friendly off court, otherwise he won't be so popular, but he does have to mind his mouth a bit, sometimes a bit too arrogant and sour grape as you said and especially when he lost ;)

And one more thing. I like serv and volley tennis, offensive tennis like Pete presented throughout the years and Roger is too passive for me on the baseline. Yesterday Roddick was offensive and really better player, but he finally lost.

Of course Federer sometimes plays beautiful tennis, has magic shots, but he is too defensive and that`s why I don`t like it.

Do you remember mimi Sampras vs Federer match from Wimbledon 2001? Federer was Pete`s copy, grat server, great volleyer, but now? Maybe he is more effective now, he changed his game and won many Slams, but you know he is so different than in the past.

I think he understood that we have a new and different decade of tennis :)And better for him is staying on the baseline than going to the net after every serve. Between 2001 to (June) 2003 he didn`t win any Slam when he was a strong volleyer. He changed his tennis and I think it helped him.

So nice to see Sampras looking healthy and well at Wimbledon - and even nicer to hear his gracious words for Federer. One of the most unlikeable aspects of Sampras' personality when he was playing was that he seldom ever gave praise to his opponents. This seems to have toned down since he retired - so much so that I think it's a valid criticism that he gave too much praise to Federer this time.

Laver was interviewed after Federer's win and he said that while Federer was great, he would probably give Sampras the edge over Federer on grass. I would have to agree with that. Whilst I think Federer is the better player overall, Sampras IMO will always be the better grass-courter. Sampras had to play on actual fast grass, not the joke stuff they have laid down nowadays, and against worthy grasscourt-specialist opponents. Federer has it much easier.
No player has ever come close to replicating the relentless machine Sampras was on grass. Sampras - the best grasscourter now, then, and most likely forever. :worship:

i think the most important thing to choose a school is whether the school has a good reputation and the teachers are good, even if the school fee is expensive, you may just work harder, good education is the most important thing for a young kid, its horrible and sad to see the low moral standard of many kids in HK, we have news almost every day about them taking drugs, some even are daring enough to do it openly in beaches, how foolish are these kids, if i were their parents, i may disown them :banghead::banghead:

thanks Lee, this swine flu doesn't seem to be as serious as SARS? not many people wear masks at streets, we were in panic when it first came here in April, by a Mexican traveller, but after that, seems the people does not pay much attention about it :wavey:

This virus is not as dangerous as SARS or H5N1 (chicken flu) but the "experts" worry the strain will mutate and becomes worse. Also, it's weird because this time of year is not flu season but this virus is still spreading.

So, it's still important to paid extra attention to personal hygiene. Washing hands are very important and if I'm in HK, I will have my hand sanitizer everywhere with me :p

 Well, one reason for not coming to MTF esp GM often is my studies, other is that fact that whenever Federer or any of my favourite players are losing, even their fans keep cribbing about it, and when they win, you'll find many trolling  Don't enjoy it at all. So I stick to the Player forms.
I'm very happy, yes :) Especially about his kids :D After everybody, including former players criticizing him and saying that he'll probably retire after 2008 and stuff  I was happy he was able to still win :)
But I was quite sad that Rafa wasn't able to defend his Wimbledon trophy :( Of course, I'll be honest and admit I wanted Roger to win it, but I wish Rafa was atleast able to play :awww: Anyway, he's still very young, and very tough mentally, so I'm quite sure he'll recover and do very well after this break
I felt bad for Andy too, and I hope he has a good hardcourt season :)
Pete looked nice in his suit didn't he? It was nice to see him back at Wimbledon. I think he was very gracious about Roger given that his record was being surpassed :hatoff:
Also, I think it's nice that they both seem to respect each other a lot and have often called themselves friends :)

How's your boss, mimi? Do you still have to work late?
Are you a Harry Potter fan? Did you watch the movie? :wavey:

Mimi
07-24-2009, 05:10 AM
yes there are lots of hate and trolling in GM, but i cannot resist the charm to go there and argue :p

honestly, I never thought Roger would never win another slam, even after his losses at RG08 and wimby 08, coz come on, he still got to the finals, how bad it can be? Though I have to admit i didn't expect him to win RG as Rafa was more dominating on clay, but kudos to Roger for grinning out many tough matches and won it finally

well, to be honest, i am a bit angry about Pete, not that I dislike Roger winning as I didn't expect Roddick could challenge him that much in wimby 09so I already predicted his win before the match, but what the hell could you be happy that someone is going to break your record, and he seems to support Roger more than his own fellow countryman Roddick? sounds fooilsh for me

my boss is not behaving too bad lately and as usual, she only arrives in the afternoon, so I slack around in the morning , well, i guess I am a bit old, i don't like watching Harry Potter's movies (it seems that i watched one serie in cinema?), i love watching detective, ghost or bloody movies, you know, I am a freak

sorry, i have to go, my lunch hours, see you and take care :smooch::yippee:

trickcy
07-24-2009, 05:28 AM
 Well, enjoy arguing then :p

Yes, I thought he'd win some too, but I never expected the RG+W double :)
Rafa really needs to look into his scheduling. I know you're his fan, but him and his team really seem a bit stupid to me in terms of his scheduling. And playing all those doubles matches as well, especially when he says he knew he had knee troubles. It just makes me go

Quite a few were upset about that. Similar to how Tiger supported Roger in the US Open  Well, it was very nice of Pete nevertheless, and he still leads in Wimbledon titles 7 : 6 even though Roger has more grass titles :) Besides, I think it was very nice to see how much respect John McEnroe, Rod Laver, Borg and even Roger have for Pete :D
And if/when there comes a day when Roger's record is broken, I hope he handles it with as much grace as Pete has :)

I don't much like the Harry Potter movies either. I prefer the books  You're not a freak  I like detective and crime movies too  So which movie have you watched recently?

don't worry, you are just stating the truth, rafa and his team are foolish, especially his uncle Toni, who made lots of fuss for his injuries and get rafa more criticis, you are right, why to play double?

i don't know that McEnroe respects Pete that much? coz he was quite criticial to him when pete was still playing

well to be honest, i don't think Roger's records will be broken in the near 30 years (i mean the 15 or more slams win ;)

i watched a Hong Kong movie, Murderer, i guess you don't know about it :p and I am planning to watch more scary movies which are going to show later (forgot the names)

It's a pity that he has tendonitis especially if it's severe enough to make him miss so much play, and a grand slam. But I really think that his scheduling needs to be revamped. I hope he takes better care of his body in the future :)

McEnroe while commentating often sounds critical of everyone  ;)
But in the interview he watched, he mentioned more than once how nice it was to have Pete back at Wimbledon, and complimented him a lot :)

Well, Rafa has a chance ;) Plus, no one thought that Pete's records would be broken so soon:eek:

McEnroe  He's often like that to most players. Praises them to the sky in one tournament and speaks as if they're lower than dirt the next :tape: But I still prefer his commentary to most others :o But he was quite complimentary to Pete all right :yeah:

 Ah, I see. I don't like it when movies end with something silly or something which ruins the whole plot :(
:secret:Oh, and when I saw Murderer, I thought first of Murray and Federer :tape:

thanks for your kind words on nadal, but with his performance, i doubt he can pass through the second week of us open ;), but ironically, it will be the first time that my paid cable tv allows me to watch us open but i don't think i have much chance to watch nadal more ;)

you are right, roger did "murder" murray in cinci , this us open trophy is for him to lose, you can prepare your champagne and victory dance :p

how is school life? you are in Summar holidays right?

I am as busy as hell in office, even though i was on sick leave this monday, but my bad boss did not ask other secs to do her works, but left me a 36 minutes long tape which recorded a telephone conference of client (i don't know who they are and have difficulty in distingushing who is who ), it took me 10 hours to finish that tape:rolleyes:

Rafa is a great fighter, and I'm sure he'll try his best this USO. Even if doesn't win it, I think he'll have a pretty good result and be back strong next year :drive:
I'm sure you'll watch him more than you expect :p Coverage of the USO is good here but horrible timings :sobbing: It's at 11 at night and 3.30 or 4.30 :tape:

you are right, roger did "murder" murray in cinci , this us open trophy is for him to lose, you can prepare your champagne and victory dance :p
No mimi, no  Actually I was thinking like Federer + Nadal = Fedal, you know?
Similarly, Murray+Federer = Murderer :D
Roger played pretty well yes, and I was quite happy to watch him play so. And I hope he plays well at USO :bounce:
But I'm sad about my other favourite players for this USO. Marat is retiring this year, and while I hope (dream) for a good finish for him here, I know that's far fetched
And Nalbandian is still out :bigcry: And Gasquet, Marcos, Ancic are all missing :awww:

hehe, you are kind but of course there is no way that rafa is going to win us open with this bad form, and this "Rafawonusopen09" fan has already jinxed him :help:

the coverage for us open is bad for me too, it is showed during midnight :help:

its unbelievable that roger could still beat all those young guns with ease, even though I love Pete, have to admit thar Roger is the GOAT :worship:

sorry for Marat, actually he is not much older than Roger but roger is still doing so great ...... may be they have different body and mind ....

David, Gasquet, Marcos, Ancic, all have unfulfilled talent :banghead:

Roger's indeed been playing extremely well :D Oh, I think it's hard to name one person as GOAT. Things change so much, eras differ so I think it's best to say Roger is the best of his generation :yeah: as were Sampras , Rod, etc of their's :yeah:

Certainly different in mind  Oh Marat :(

Yes, they do :smash: It's quite frustrating as a fan :p

Well, I like college during holidays, and holidays during college :tape: But it is nice to meet everybody again, and start a fresh sem :)

Hi mimi. How are you? :)

I was so busy a couple of days ago, but I`ll try to find some time to watch coming U.S.Open 2009 ;)

Yes, I think Rafa doesn`t have a big chance to win this tournament. When he came back, he wasn`t in his top form unfortunately... and he is in Murray`s half in the draw because he is numer 3 in the world:eek: Roger has only Djokovic in his half... as usual he has an easy draw

We have so many favorites to win U.S.Open. Federer, Murray, Djokovic, Roddick, Del Potro and Nadal, but Roger is of course the biggest favorite to win another Grand Slam

its rare that i have us open coverage this year, but due to time difference, i don't thiink i will watch too much coz the matches are being shown at around 11 pm my time till 7 am, the time when i sleep :mad:

oh i was busy at work these days so i didn't come here as often, i don't know that Murray is in Rafa's half? pfff, then roger is sure win :mad::p, yes he always get easy draw, but to be fair, no draw is too difficult for him coz no one can beat him in grand slam except rafa ;)

I spent one week of my holidays on the Baltic see in Kołobrzeg (of course in Poland :))I went there with my parents and sister in the first half of August. We stayed in a nice boarding house, very close to the beach. The weather was sunny almost every day. I could swim in the sea and lie on the beach. It was a nice time to rest.

I was back on 7 October, but i come back to work today:rolleyes:, lots of mails to read, my trip, umm, is ok , less good than I expected coz the places we visited look almost the same, I feel especially dissapointed about "Glacier Express" coz the scenes are not beautiuful at all:mad:, and the weather is sunny and not that cold, the coldest is just around 0 degree celcius in the mountain and I wore not thick clothes, may be my fatty tissues allow me to feel less cold than others

whats more, I discovered during the trip that one of my friends love to scold people all the times , well, she did sometimes throw tandrums at us during our meeting but not as much as this time coz now are are together for a 24 hours basis (we must be there when she wanted to take photos, otherwise she will scold us , and she mocked at my foolishness (there were some human statutes with umbrellas in their hands at a lake when we visited, but i did not notice their presence as we walked slowly towards the lake, she said she regretted for not taking an umbrella, at last i knew that she wanted to pose a similar umbrella-holding photo like those stattues, but as i did not see the statues, i asked her why she wanted to take an umbrealla since there is no rains? :confused:she responded by "Miranda, no wonder your boss scolds you all the time ! implying that i was foolish and deserved the scolds:rolleyes:) (my another friend said actually she scolded her all the time when they visited usa, and thats why she did not want to go with her this time .......) she took more than 1,000 photos for the trip while i have about 200 and my friend only 50 ). I thought I was going to see some spendid landscapes as big waterfalls, houses that are more beautiful than those I saw every day, but however i only saw landscapes which we could see in New Territories but just bigger , mostly just trees and since the top of the train is half transparent and it was very sunny, we all felt very uneasy :help:

but Zermett is quite good

you are right, an old couple who are the friend of my mum, is taking a cruise trip from Canada and stopped by to visit my mum, they stayed there for 5 days and will be leaving tomororw morning

but my house is very small and so i have to sleep in the sofa of my living room coz i let them sleep in my bedroom. As they wake up very early, my mum already told them that I have to work today and will wake up at 8 am and leave at 8:30 am, hinting that they better not to wake up at that time to allow me to use the bathroom etc. But however they came out of their bedroom at 8 am sharp today, and told me that I can use the bathroom since they have finished , but oh god, i don't only need the bathroom, i need to use the living room/kitchen etc but however the hubby went straight to the kitchen to boil hot water and make breakfast (it is reasonable if they have some place to go, but however, they already said they will stay at home today as they need to pack their luggage) so why to "board my way", especially when my mum told them that my boss is very fierce :banghead:

the wife then asked me where she can buy a 筆座, I told my mum to take her there, but she was still asking ......... and when I left before 8:30 pm, the hubby still is not smart enough to ask me why I left so early :banghead::banghead:

may be i gonna post you a photo of this great friend after I have time to develop the film, I also took photos with a big black dog :dog:

Becareful with the value of the gift, they may be taxed heavily to receive it.

My hubby loves gardening. Here we can grow citric fruits like orange, lemon, lime, tangerine, etc. In Canada, we grow apples. There are many fruits that grows in Vancouver. My relatives grow pears, apples, blueberries, cherries, etc.

 Canadian citizens can receive gift within a certain among. Over the limit, they have to pay tax before they can pick up the package. That's to avoid people claiming merchandises they bought as gift to aviod paying sales taxes, etc. Even when we travel, the souvenirs we bought have a limit on value, over the amount, we have to pay tax upon returning.

Also, the custom may not rely on the monetary amount you claim on the package. The tax may be based on the equivalent value for a similar product to be bought in Canada. e.g. it may cost you HK$500 but it may be sold at CAD200. Then, the tax will base on CAD200 in Canada. :o

Not long after we immigrated to Canada, my in-laws had my brother brought back to Canada (he visited HK for a wedding) dozens of cotton underwears for hubby. The tax ended up more expensive than the cost :tape: and hubby didn't wear them AT ALL. We dared not tell our in-laws. :p

May be the global warming shrink the glacier a lot. From the way you dressed, it's not the cold when you're that close to the glacier. If you want to see really BIG glaciers, join a tour visiting the Rockies in Canada. The Columbia Icefield is the best to see the glaciers. You can only go up there in the summer and even in August, it's freezing up there. I first visit the Icefield in 1984 and the foot of the icefield is close to the highway. Now, after driving further up where the new parking lot is, you still have to walk a long way to reach the foot.

Not all St. bernards are big and fat

陳寶珠IS COMING!!!!!

I see :wavey:

yes this glacier is not cold, or may be I am not too afraid of coldness, most of my tour mates wore 羽"勇" while I just a normal jacket, and also with the sun, its not cold for me:angel: Thanks for your suggestion, I may visit in some day, and I also want to visit Yellow stone park, seems great and goregous :worship:

蕭芳芳 is coming too ;)

Say hello to your mom!

I can see Lee is a great cook :worship:. My sister who has been housewife for more than 10 years still doesn't know how to cook a proper meal, she is very lazy and and almost never make dishes which need to be fried/deep fried for fear that her kitchen may get dirty , poor daugther of her has to eat meat like pork chop with no almost no sauce (白烚豬扒), just steamed , so when she eats at my home, she eats a lot

It's so much easier to have take out or eat out in Hong Kong. Steam pork chop :p May be your sister is into healthy eating. And I don't deep fried food. It use too much oil and not healthy. I mostly stir fry, grill or bake.

i was not joking, i thought it looks like one of the paws of his dog, but from the photo, it looks like all four legs of his dog are in place, so what is this spare paws :p

Prefer to answer your question here...

Andy was holding one of the front paw of the dog. You can see the other paw on the steps. I believe you mistook the hind leg of the dog as the other paw. From the other picture, you can see the front paws are white while the hind legs are brown. I don't know where you see the other leg though :p

she is not that healthy, she eats and buys a lot of snacks as potato chips/chocolate. She just gave me a big bag of candies which she couldn't finish/unwanted to me last Saturday:rolleyes:, she is just lazy and doesn't want to do the cleaning ;)

Not everyone likes to cook :p I am not into cooking myself but living here, just getting grocery is a task, let alone eating out. Also, my son has only a select few restaurants he likes to go. Since I am forced to cook most of the time, I have to try to make the best of it. My sister loves to cook so this strengthens the sister-bond. ;)

its more healthy to cook at home . I don't like cooking, take too much time I think, especially the part on cleaning the vegetables/meat etc, and after all, have to clean the kitchen and all the cooking appliances, well, if i can have a very big and pretty kitchen, may be i will like cookin,g but you know, my house is so small as well as my kitcken :p

It's tough to cook in Hong Kong with the tiny tinny kitchen. Western cooking is simplier with less work compare to Chinese cooking. Too much preparation work.

my sister and my sister in law's kitchens are not too small, but both of them do not like cooking. My sister in law looks more like my sister now, she refused to cook those dishes that require fried/deep dried, her son calls my mum from time to time and ask her to cook some dishes as fried pork chop/chicken wings etc for him:p

Lee
11-07-2009, 02:02 AM
Well, fried/deep fried foods are really not good for anyone and make kitchen real greasy. :p Your sister-in-law is right about not cooking those and may be you tell your mom don't cook those food for the kids. Foods can taste good without fried/deep fried.

One problem with eating out too much in Hong Kong is restaurant foods are usually very salty and/or loaded with MSG :tape: They kill the taste buds on the tongue so food tasted too bland as a result.

my nephew sometimes asked my mum to make him 炆豬利. Or may be its my bad English, its not really 炸, but 煎?

I seldom eat out except on occasions as gathering with old friends/old colleagues:angel:

do you think your Nole has chance against Roger? Is he taking on Roger in semi final in Basel

Lee
11-07-2009, 05:04 AM
Fried is 煎, deep fried is 炸, braised is 炆

I haven't really watched how Federer is playing. Unless Nole gets over his mental block, he will have a tough time vs Federer. It's even tougher as Basel is home to Roger. They will only meet in final. Nole is vs Stepanek in SF.

Roads are pretty simple in western states in US. Even in a very BIG city, there's only a few main roads. Most cities are designed in grids/blocks, like rice fields. Most of the shopping areas are right next to the main roads. Unless you visit a friend, you won't get into a residential area.

It's soooooooo much more difficult to look for a street in Hong Kong. Also, most of the smaller streets here don't use name but numbers. Like in Pheonix metro here, the center starts in the city of Pheonix with Central Avenue, going west is 1st, 2nd, 3rd, etc Avenues. Going east is 1st, 2nd, 3rd, etc streets. So if you're on 10th street and you need to reach 50th street, you know you need to continue east for another 4 miles. And even my address has a street name, (most residential street does) but the number of my address indicate I am near which street or avenue.

Plus nowadays, almost everyone has a GPS system in their cars telling them how to get to their destinations

In 2005 I voted for Lech Kaczynski and he really was my President  He was very underrated President and his wife was a very good woman. Poland lost 96 people, most of them was the greatest people in my country, very popular and significant politicians... two Presidents, members of Solidarity

It was shocking tragedy and one of the worst week in Poland history.

The State funeral for the President and First Lady of Poland will take place on Saturday in Warsaw, followed by burial in Krakow’s Wawel Castle on Sunday.

I had the same feelings during the death of Pope John Paul II and his funeral in April 2005

You are going to feel less sad as time goes by, may be the president and his wife are now in better place than this cruel world?:hug::smooch:

isn't his twin brother is still in the government? may be he can rule the country for his brother?:wavey:

I know how you feel, I don't know if it can help you feel a bit better. Many best people from USA were killed in 911 too, but the Amercian citizens did not get down by this horrible accident and worked hard to re-build everything, so Polish for sure can do the same :wavey:

His twin brother Jaroslaw Kaczynski is the opposition leader, but not in the goverment. He can be candidate for the Polish presidency, but I don`t know. He lost his family and also can drop out of politics.

Poland is a strong country and will survive, that`s for sure :)

Hi mimi :)

I`m fine, thanks :)

Poland will hold a presidential election on June 20 following the death of Lech Kaczynski. Acting President Bronislaw Komorowski will fight against Lech Kaczynski's twin brother Jaroslaw. It`s still very difficult time for my country. I hope that the opposition leader (J.Kaczynski) will win.

the match was being showed at 12:30 am my time, i did not watch much, swap between watching and lying on bed:p. I thought the match was going to 3 sets as Roger was leading in tiebreakers and he is the king of tiebreakers, Rafa surprised me at the end:p
