Nadal and Roddick through to quarter finals as Kohlschreiber and Davydenko withdraw

Not sure what the reason for Kohli's withdrawal was, but Rafa is through to the quarters.

Now he can train for another 4 hours.

TV commentary was the source of the news.

Hopefully nothing serious for Kohli, as for Rafa, I am sure he is shaking at the prospect of facing Nando or Pico. He will need to perform a couple of yoga sessions to deal with the tension, no?

Yesterday:

Kohli's dreams:

"What I want is to go out on the court tomorrow, to enjoy myself and have fun and try my best. If I only have one chance, I have to take that chance because against him you don’t get any more - maybe one, maybe none - so I will do my best to fight tomorrow for every point and, of course, I’ll have a lot of fun on the court. [ ]"

Nadal's courtesy:

"[It will be] difficult [ ], he is a hard hitter, his backhand as well as his forehand. My idea for tomorrow is to play safe with my serve and hopefully try to get my serve to win without too many problems and wait for the rest to happen. You have to be aggressive, that´s what the court demands of you."

After the exchange of dream & courtesy statements there's no need to play the match

a huge slice of luck for roddick, i would say missing the match practice on clay in his only warm up tournament wasn't ideal, but i think roddick will care more about the extra points gained than preparing for RG.

Kohlscreiber did the smart thing and went clubbing in Madrid instead. The result was always going to be Nadal d. Kohlscreiber W/O.

As for Davy, I hope this isn't a serious recurrence of his wrist injury, but of course the byproduct of this is one of the most novel match-ups of the year.

Then again it will give folks a preview of his upcoming epic vs Rafa at FO, in the final.Better than watching the extermination of real tennis against Nadal in all tournaments Federer played. Remember the horrid 2004 Slams. Witness the free rides he received, especially in the French Open by Nalbandian, choke by an exhausted Baghdatis, Masters Cup, and 2006-7 Wimbledon. Lol at 2004-2005 Miami, 2007 Cincinnati, 2004 and 2008 Indian Wells. Look at Mr. Blake "Roddick's sabotaging Davis Cup team 'mate' " today.
