What a choke from Haas, he was 6-2 5-2 :rolls: And he was 5-3 in the third set also. But he still managed to win it a in mug manner.

In resume, there were 2 mugs on the court. But as always, Winner mug > Loser mug. :yeah:

It's my idea or was Gulbis last year RG run just a huge fluke?

Ernie....

Maybe Tommy can teach his buddy Marat how to pull out a win like this. Even after choking the large lead...

Still hoping Ernie will make 2nd week of RG. It's not like he was playing much better this time last year. :p

fluke. he is just way too reckless. has some weapons to work with but simply cannot put it all together.

he also says he has trouble concentrating for the entire duration of a single tennis match, let alone the whole tournament.

toss the mug into the "decent potential" category for now.

yeah, I used the wrong word, it wasn't a fluke, he played quite well.

But his low mental strenght and lack of interest this year has climbed out the scale. :tape:

This Gulbis reminds me on Murray a year or two ago. I hope he can get out of the mug as Muzza did.

Without putting him down too much, he had porbably one of the softest draws he could have had. Blake and Llodra aren't exactly suited to clay, Greul is even more erratic than Ernie is, and Lapentti had had a couple of gruelling previous rounds.

Today's result obviously isn't a huge surprise, but I did half believe he might beat Haas on this occasion.

Clownish stuff at times from both players specially Gulbis. Hilarious way to lose the match getting broken from 40-0 at 5-6 in the third. I wouldn´t be surprised at all if he retires in a couple of years, really

are you still a fan of this brainless ballbasher? seems like he's getting broken quite often for a big server like him.

whats going on with Gulbis? I don't buy the "rich syndrome". I'm not even sure is it true that he is a rich parents child.

I was only half serious but remember he also had chances against Djokovic in the QF.

My point still stands. Obviously he needs luck to avoid Federer and Nadal but a run like that can come out of nowhere. Especially at a slam where you get lower ranked players in early rounds and work your way in.
