Oh. My. God.

Way to bounce back James! :woohoo: Win this title, please! :yeah:

Good to see James back on form but Davydenko really should be beating him on this surface. He has no plan B, playing to James forehand all the time is not going to win you the match. :o

Good luck in the final James!!! :worship:

If Blake only had to play Davydenko, Andreev, and Moya on a rotating basis, he'd be number one.

so, do people still think that Fish should be called instead of Blake for the DC tie?

Unless the US is playing against the players mentioned above(Andreev, Donkey, Moya)....yes Fish(or Querrey if he gets his head out of his ass) should play.

So USA have clay champions in Blake and Fish, they have Sam Querrey who was the one to play the most competitive match against Nadal on clay.

Thats great, I am hoping for a Sam Querrey-Nadal final in RG.

Kolya

I hate Blake so much.

Davydenko just cannot deal with Blake can he

scoobs
05-10-2009, 12:46 PM
Should really have seen this coming - prior to this match Blake held a 6-0 H2H over Davydenko and from watching their past matches it's always been clear that Davydenko doesn't know how best to deal with Blake.

Nope. It's definitely Lukas (sp?) Kubot. Or Mischa Zverev.

I was so sure that the power of match up will fail in this case and I was so wrong. No escaping from that, not even on clay.

 Kolya....why can't you ever beat Blake once??? I assume it's mental.

Anyway, welcome back to normal, James! :yeah:

Jimnik
05-10-2009, 01:51 PM
Well that settles it. True ownage. The h2h may only be 7-0 but this is virtually a turkey already.

Bring on the Davis Cup! With Blake and Fish in this kind of form, maybe Roddick is the one to leave out. ;)

I knew Blake would get out of his coma at some point, I just never thought it would be on clay.

LeChuck
05-10-2009, 02:22 PM
 I thought that Kolya would finally get his first win over Blake on at clay at a tournament that he has done well at during his career, but Blake's ownership of him has continued onto the red dirt as well.

I guess when you're owned, you're owned. And James Blake is the owner of one Davydenko--on all surfaces. Odd.

Damn. I don't think I can ever cheer for Nikolay again. :o

That's really embarrassing: 0-7 H2H vs. Blake and 0-1 now on clay.

tangerine_dream
05-10-2009, 05:41 PM
I like this result much better. What a shame he had to play the final today too but beating his pet Donkey on clay more than makes up for it.

so, do people still think that Fish should be called instead of Blake for the DC tie?

Blake is the better man for clay (over Fish) imo, irrespective of this result. But, obviously, Fish has been out-performing him so far this season (and is still ahead, thanks to Montanes's title win), so you could argue that Mardy was more deserving of a chance at least on the basis of form/results.

Anyway, as concerns this particular win...quite surprised tbh! Obviously James is a bad match-up for Kolya, and perhaps the clay isn't the absolute slowest over in Estoril...but, still, this is 'total ownage' as Jimnik says. :tape: :yeah:

malisha
05-10-2009, 06:12 PM
playing to James forehand all the time is not going to win you the match. :o

Donkey loves forhand cross court exchanges....rarely plays DTL... he is sucessfull in that most of the time
and then he meet James Blake

:speakles: :haha: LMAO shocked that Blake owns Davydenko 7-0 now  I'm glad he at least reached a clay final in Europe, beating some decent players along the way and pissing off the haters :yeah: :nerner: He didn't win the final but oh well   still a good week :D

but :tape: @ Davydenko
