Brands into the SF and without facing a break point. :haha:

Potito, whatever was bothering you, get well soon.

I expect Youzhny (who was really good against PHM today), to school Brands in one hour.

My first thought after being aware of this result was: "fix?"

Starace's odds drifted big time before the match. Reports are that he was injured before the match and was going to see how he fared. People got the news and bet on Brands big time.

Very good period for young Germans: Beck in MC, Zverev in Rome, and now Brands.

because I saw the match...was a big big comedy... I am 100% sure that the reason that Starace withdraw was not the injury...

Would you mind telling the rest of us what it was, then?

don't think so

he beat old koubek in the 1st round. in the 2nd round he beat an out of form benneteau who was up a break 3 times in the final set and who choked several times. today he beat an injured starace who was never going to win. a walkover you could say. so we shouldn't overrate his performance this week. it's looks better than it is.

At the moment he is probably a poor man's Querrey.

Brands is not the future of German tennis. Am still happy to see him win this though. Good job :yeah:

for the same reason that Davydenko retired before 2 years vs Martin Vassallo Arguello....
