Unexpected result. How did he let Gonzo take 6 games?

Actually Gonzo played awesome. both traded grandstrokes to max till Nadal showed who is smarter, yet Gonza is beast till the end. Nadal is anything but love challenge and Gonzo's playing style today. Good practice for tomorrow.

Gonzo peaked in the 3rd Game.

And some people say that Fed's dominance was boring.

That shot from Nadal was incredible. All his weight was going one way and he whipped the ball the opposite direction.

Congrats, Rafa! :hatoff:
Solid performance. Should have no problem in grabbing that title tomorrow if he keeps going on like this. Same goes for Madrid and RG. Quite an unbelievable streak again. :)

Very solid performance by both players. Gonzalez was doing good, this result at Roma will give him confidence. Nadal played good today and should be able to bring the Roma title back. Good luck for tomorrow.

Nadal shots actually remind me to Jordan jump style in his late carrier. Whatever the position is, Jordan still can deliver scores, makes the shots much more attractive. :worship:

Rafa is such a phenomenal champion.

If Novak brings the game he brought today against Rafa tommorow, then it will be a schooling win for Rafa.

what are you saying, this are exciting times for tennis, before every match you keep guessing if the opponent will win 5 or 6 games. If you guess right you feel happy inside

Nadal hit some great shots and as usual had some amazing points, but I didn't think he played that amazingly today  Gonzalez played well until 3-3 in the 1st set when he started giving away way too many free points. In the 2nd set his game was all over the place  Maybe he was a bit tired from his match against Monaco the other day, or just flat

I think Nadal is going to have to play better in the final tomorrow, and I'm sure he will

nadal reminded me of a butchers boy. quiet, local kid, who chops chicken limbs under the counter for fun.

Better :)

Yes. Much better play by Nadal this time. Even though he stayed behind the baseline he did place the ball deep and that troubled Gonzalez. Nadal produced some amazing shots today. Not many, but they were worth the wait :smoke:

No-one will ever dominate the clay season like this. Three major clay titles in three weeks is unheard of.

Congrats to Rafa on being the clayGOAT.

clay season, they should just let this guy have a bye to the finals  Then one more player gets a place in the main draw. That way the winner of the "real" tournament will have a shot to face the king of clay in an "exho" match

Congrats Rafa! Well done! Good serve. He did a great job, not playing very well but enough to win.

Now, Djokovic next! Nadal is playing better than in MC for suuure. Now, I hope Rafael will be more aggressive and he should win in 3 sets...

Vamos Rafa el campeon :)

The rest the players that he beat en route to the Australian Open, Indian Wells, Monte Carlo, and Barcelona titles can't wait for his "luck" to run out either. :crying2:

If he wins tomorrow he'll be the first man in history to be holding all three clay court masters as well as the French Open.

Hmmm, might he also be the first man ever to win 3 of the first 4 master's series events?

I remember after Rafa won Wimbledon someone wrote that Nadal had the potential to be more dominant than Federer ever was. I'm not sure if I exactly understood that at the time, but I do now. ;)

It's unheard of because before you had to play 6 matches in AMS events including a best of 5 set final. Not like today that they changed it to cater to the whining pansies of this weak era.

An improvement in performance when compared to the QF against Verdasco. I expect him to play even better in the final now and it's good to see him win the semi in seventy five minutes.
