Rafa in 2. I hope Gonzo can make it a contest though.

I bet the rest of my credits on Nadal here, this is as sure a bet as any. Rafa is going to seriously punish Gonzo's weak slices.

Nadal needs to come closer to the baseline. He seemed to be playing from 4m behind it yesterday – which turns his game into a defense. Gonzalez will go for the lethal forehand for sure so Nadal needs to adopt his attack game; otherwise this will turn into a marathon.

Nadal in 2

Gonzo makes too many errors , he won't take a set from GOAT.

Gonzalez hasn't taken a set off of Nadal in over 2 years, a timespan that includes two hard court matches. If Gonzalez, a guy who relies on weapons to win, can't take a set off of Nadal on hard courts, then his chances to do anything meaningful against him on clay are quite slim.

Nadal, maybe the classic 6-2 6-3.

completely agree, i thought we moved away from that defensive 5m behind baseline nadal. occasionally his mind goes walkabout and forgets his new game.

^^ Nadal is always defensive on clay. It's a different game there for him than on hard courts, where he feels he has the best chance playing close to the baseline.

he is more aggressive even on clay now, like against soderling or last year's french open.

Rafael in 2 sets! Something like 6-3 6-3.
I hope he will raised his level comparing to yesterday's match! Vamos Rafa! :)

when do we start calling rafa nadal the god of clay instead of king of clay? what does he have to do to get that tag? for me if he wins 7 french opens.

Well, jokes aside... Gonzalez is a veteran player in clay that has defeated Nadal in the past on other surfaces, so he may actually have as many chances as any other players to defeat him, except maybe Djokovic.

He can be competitive for several games on each set, but the minute he's not 100% focused and free of errors, he will lose a game. At some point he will certainly give up and start trying a winner from every ball.

All of this suposing Nadal won't play very well. If he steps up a level, no matter what Gonzo does, he's toast.

I wonder whether Gonzo will get more than three games.
