Once again Del Pony fails to impress against the big boys. His forehand was horrible today and so was his returns/play on the big points.

Nole did pretty well saving those break points and was not doing too much on his shots keeping the UE number pretty low.

Probably a next Djokovic-Federer clash.

Del Potro doesn't have much to hurt Djokovic with, his power CC shots (not much angled) just suits so well to Nole's counter punching skills, preserving him energy for his own attacks. On the other hand his defense is not that good to endure more than a couple of well placed attacking shots coming from Djokovic. Also weak second serves just begs to be attacked and Djokovic knows how to do it, and occasional short low bounced balls make Juan to get out of his comfort zone. Really it just takes from Novak to play a little bit above his average level for this to be a nightmare match up for Del Potro. He doesn't even need to use slices or net sneaking which would expose Del Pony weaknesses even further.

Never in doubt.

Now Djoker has a good chance to consolidate his position as world #2 claycourter.

Convincing performance from Djokovic, even if he got a little tight in the end. Del Potro's game is so boring.

Djokovic is on the road to defend his title... he only lost 15 games since the beginning of the tournament...

we'll see if Nadal is doing better ^^

Now, Federer/Djokovic? advantage Djoko for sure.

Nole was playing below his abilities, but nonetheless he seemed to be quite comfortable (although again from time to time that heavy breading). Del Potro has a long path before him but he is talented. He took 1 break and 7 games. Thats quite good.

Djokovic is just too good. His backhand was deadly, return good and those dropshots partly made the destruction... Fed next?

good job, now do your job Fed and let's finally have this long awaited semis, no excuses will be there for Djokovic

Very enjoyable to watch, Novak has been simply out of this world since the transition of hard to clay and this was an outrageos performance, he is hitting the ball great and if anybody can beat Rafa on this surface it is Nole at the minute, Del Potro had a good week but just came up short against the 2nd best clay courter in the world by far at the moment.

I agree about JMDP not being able to step it up against the big boys. Nole was OK, but not great. I would not jump to conclusions to say yet Nole is the second bet Clay Court player this year. Federer will be his test....... Of course Nadal will be his "final test".

Del Mugtro cannot beat top players when it really matters.

Wasn't impressed with Del Potro against Wawrinka or Troicki, so this wasn't really a surprise imo - he's not found any clay form yet.

Relatively comfortably win, Djoko didn't have to do much.

Never underestimate the good old fox, Roger Federer. I think he came to Rome to play some tennis. It will be really interesting to see this match-up considering the last racket smash encounter between the two.............

Never in doubt.

He's not nr 2 yet. If Fed wins he will first have to beat him. And even then its not 100% sure.

Del Potro is still young, when he's fully developed he'll be able to put up a better fight against the top 3 and maybe even win a few, like he did against Nadal a month ago. :)

Del Potro didnt play really well. Lots of unforced errors and he looked like he didnt believe in himself.
Hopefully he will get better again soon.

Djokovic looks really good on court. Some great shots. He could make it Rafa difficult this year

Routine from Nole. He hardly broke a sweat.

There was one EXTREMELY nice drop-halfvolley for 5-2 in the first set. An expert play.

never in doubt from the man who owns one of the toughest backhands on the planet. its just rock solid and damn near unattackable.

D-Pot is no match for him.

Del Potro still might improve as clay season progresses. He has a long way to go though.

Really looking forward to Djokovic vs. Federer tomorrow.

And really hoping they draw each other as potential semifinalists at Roland Garros. Enough of Djokovic and Nadal in the same half there, already.
