I read the book a few months ago.
I have so much respect for the guy with everything he has gone through.
Hopefully he can bust out of his slump, he deserves it.

maybe new coaching could help him. he's always had the tools to at least be top 5. just way too inconsistent and high risk.

This thread is doomed to failure.

An American player could run into a joint orphanage/pet store that was on fire and save 50 babies and puppies from certain death and people on here would say he did it so he could get more famous and that he's a piece of shit.

Dimitry Tursunov can throw his racquet at an umpire and quit in the middle of matches and he's a hilarious, awesome guy.

Haven't read the book but it was a great comeback considering all the stuff that had happened to him. Hopefully he can launch another mini comeback and get back into the form he was in a while ago.

I'll stand convicted (not of the Tursunov part). I've had a like-dislike thing with Blake more than almost any player of the last few years, and it switched over to dislike the last year or two. Because he just seemed like he believed his own media hype. Because of the Las Vegas debacle. Because of the J-Block. Because of Vinnie's truth. And because --as someone wrote hilariously here once --no one pouts and sulks for extended lengths of time on court quite like Blake. I like Roddick more.

But Blake's breakthrough at the USO was great stuff. And it wasn't good to see him look so lost out there this week. Yeah it's clay in Rome, but he seemed just sort of absent, not even on court mentally. I wonder if the Fish and Roddick marriages have him feeling solo. It would be good if he could pull things together for the summer.

That Gonzo match at the Olympics has had a lingering effect on him. At the time I couldn't stand the way Blake played it up in the media, but since then I've come to think Gonzo really was a slime.

I think that netpost gave Blake a fate even worse than the injury.

Blake is actually a factor in something besides MM American hardcourt tournaments?

Blake has a bad spine and bad hands.
5 years have made
him recover and celebrate wins in Roddick's face.
Congratulations to him for suffering against Gonzalez
twice.

Why would the marriages of Roddick
and Fish affect Blake? He's not their token
adopted son. Roddick only met Blake after
McEnroe loyally forced them in Davis Cup.
The media made Blake look like a saint
and portrayed Roddick as a villain.
The tennis fans, including Roddick fans,
fell for the bait immediately.
Didn't Blake go on the Roddick biography show,
and called Roddick brainless on clay in 2003
and in 2006 called Roddick a useless
baseliner behind the baseline?
Ironic from a mindless ball basher who called
his win over Federer a lucky one.
Federer, the best of all time, just had a
"bad day".

all he needs is a new coach not a coach turn family friend in Brian Barker
it ain't working as far as results goes and it ain't gonna happen until after Wimbledon while the likes of Nadal,Federer,Djokovic,Murray are all on vacation when he might win small tournaments

Blake has always been ugly to watch, but being black in a white sport automatically makes him a marketing star and a popular hero, like the handful of white players in the 90's basket.

Overrated, Ballbasher, boring, big mouthed player with a backhand that, no joke, after watching it for a while I feel the need to plunge my eyes out of their sockets and submerge them in acid.
