Crivoi was up 5-0 in the 1st set, then Blakey wins 5 games in a row, Crivoi held and then broke Blake to take the 1st set.

Blake looked like he wanted to be somewhere else, the conditions weren't great, but they are the same for both players.

Time to head to the beach in Estoril.

Poor from Blake, but Crivoi worked some nice points for himself.

Great to see him win in a tournament like this!

Reverse shit in second set, Blake was 2-0 up and then Crivoi won 5 games in a row. It never looked like Victor could lose this one.

Rather awful match. Blake was gifting a couple of points each game, I don't really know how he managed to level it back to 5-5 in the first set despite not playing that well.

I've never seen Crivoi play before. But I automatically like him. Blake can't even win most of his gift matches now.

Didn't watch it, but you can imagine Blake struggling. Wind gusts to 80kph out there, kinda kills his game (and there's not a great deal of that to start with on clay).

The sad thing is that French seeding goes by the rankings, so a HOPELESS claycourter like Blake will be a top 16 seed!!! I'd say the odds are about 0 that he makes it past the 2nd round let alone makes it to the round of 16. I hope Karlovic draws him again this year!

blake is not a tennis player. the guy is a brainless, clueless, mindless ballbashing mug that should never be regarded as a tennis player and the fact rafa has a 3-2 losing record over this braindead mug is an embarressment to professional sport no matter what surface its played on. nadal should be taken to the back and given the crack whip on his arse. pathetic.

Blake is pathetic. Coming back from 0:5 deficit to "5 all" against an unexperienced player = 7-5 or 7-6 after an easy tie-break. This match summarize in a twisted way Blake's career full of losing sets and matches which should have been won.

Blake has been awful for months. Loses to everybody and anybody. He's way off his game and his confidence is shot. He needs to take some time off, regroup, and find a way to come back strong during the summer hardcourt season.

Poor from Blake, but Crivoi worked some nice points for himself.

Sounds like some excuses. Same with the conditions. Blake is supposed to be a world-class player. Crivoi is nearly 27 years old and has a 4-9 career record, including 0-3 this year. He's a typical lucky James Blake opponent. But Blake is even worse now.

Blake should be:o:o:o:o for losing to a nobody like he did today:o:mad:

how can his "coach" get paid to "coach" blake and watch that so-called match his charge played today and honeslty for months now the way he did?
as someone whose become a friend to Blake,Barker if he has any love;respect for Blake should have the courage to walk away and wish Blake all the best if Blake doesn't have the guts to fire Barker

I mean at some point;if not the player but the coach has to tell themselves that the partnership ain't working:shrug:that Blake has yet to win a MC shield;yet to make the semis of a major(on hard court since he is a hard court specialist)and yet to win a title off hard courts:shrug:

yeah and even more pathetic is letting a mug like BLAKE stand in the way of one your life long dreams of winning an Olympic medals in singles. Shame on Rafa, wait... James has never beaten Rafa at the Olympics. :wavey:

And to think that Blake was inducted just last week into Peter Fleming's Top 5 Best Players of All Time (based on entertainment, not achievements).

He must have buckled under the pressure of that accolade.

 Maybe some people have a tendency to think firstly about the contrymen, and in the consequence their choices are ridiculous. Blake in good shape is enterteining but for god's sake, already 41 years have passed away since the Open Era began :o

why did blake even show up here? did he think hed make it to round 2 or what?

this guy is the biggest mug of a loser ever. his facial expression had me laughing like crazy earlier, he must beat himself at night or something. he just looks weird and awkward out on the court. that ripping forehand has really vanished from himself. sucks. hopefully he'll win the usopen this yr or at least get to QFs

From what I saw of Crivoi, he wasn't bad. He can hit hard. I was expecting a B-grade grinder. But he's way older than he looks. I thought he was a young player.

But what I saw of Crivoi was up to 5-0. As for the result after::spit:

Blake looked a little like he was on 'ludes.

Watching US players on clay almost makes me hate the surface.

Strange to hear such words by James:

ďHasnít been my best tennis lately,Ē said Blake, whose career nearly ended in Rome with a freak accident in 2004 when he fractured vertebrae in his neck after colliding into the net post during a practice session.

ďIíd love to snap my fingers and magically turn it around and be playing better, but I donít have those powers. I donít know whatís going to happen. I donít know how Iím going turn it around.Ē

James has come through so many obstacles in his career so there is a reason he can get back to form. Why is he so dejected? He should practise as hard as he can and be highly motivated as he was in 2005.

“It makes when you’re playing bad even less fun when you’re out there and the conditions are like that. You got clay in your eyes and you can’t control the ball because of the wind. And when it starts to drizzle, it makes it not so much fun.”

He's desperate for money and Pat McEnroe's lust.:o He must be the Olympic and Davis Cup hero like Federer. He actually believes he has longevity and smarts after all the spinal and stupidity problems.

Blake doesn't represent Roddick. Unfortunately,
Roddick's team wants to pretend that Roddick doesn't get dragged down to Blake's level. 5 years of embarrassment prove that. Roddick looked shocked that he got fat and injured and still beat Federer and Robredo.:o

You mean that seriously overblown back injury? What a drama queen he was. Blake came on tour with a multi-million dollar deal. He has had every advantage possible for a young player. Infinite wild cards; Davis Cup selections in easy ties when he wasn't even one of the top dozen American players. And with his background, the fact that anyone can describe him as having come through so many obstacles is beyond hilarious. He's a baby.
