Poor Taylor Dent says he is amazed at what he's done since his injuries in interview. It's amazing considering he was on his back almost 24 hours a day for a year in a cast. That's horrific to even think about.

He looks like he could get back to the top 50 though. What you guys think?

Admin people: have not posted anything about the link so please, please, please don't remove the thread. Or if I am breaking any rules, please let me know how! I'm trying!

Hope he has a good grass season too. That's where his game should be at its best.

Top 50 is not unrealistic.

Yes, it's well possible, but it's definitely not a given. He's had some bad losses too.

sorry for the kind of unnecessary bump, but does anyone know what dent means by this?

He says his "hobbies" include politics and religion.

what side is he on politically? what's his take on religion?

He says he's not very religious but just enjoys learning about the origins of the various religions.

As for politics, I searched briefly but couldn't find anything indicating how he leans. Maybe he means he just likes reading about the process and the drama associated with it?

Sorry, too lazy to quote right now as I'm headed to bed. Just search for politics and religion and you'll find the excerpts, although there's not a whole lot there. Interesting interviews all around, though.

I can't believe that he did so well either...thought he'd be lucky to see top 150 again. He should be proud of his achievement. :yeah:

Hoping he can make top 50 again, but I'm still rather sceptical to be honest. He'll need to take a couple more steps up (he lies around 300pts off this target), and as CooCoo says he does tend to suffer some horrible losses which will probably peg him back. Apart from the Miami R4 points to fall off, he doesn't have anything else of note to fall off his ranking until the end of the summer...so as long as he doesn't start to lose every match in sight he has a very good chance to at least consolidate his ranking and even improve it a fair few places if he can go deep in some draws.

Good luck to him in 2010. :D

But so far he's had better results on hard courts, hasn't he? (Which seems surprising)

I haven't really had Dent down as a good mover, which is perhaps why he has struggled to do more on grass. He isn't particularly quick on his feet, and can be slow to turn.

Definitely has the right game to be advancing deep into draws, although the Wimbledon grass probably doesn't do him any favours. But the other problems for him are that his return of serve isn't great, and his own serve has a habit of deserting him for strings of points.

Dent can be very proud of what he has accomplished this year. He has too much class to be out of top 100 and once he regains some consistency, he will be there soon enough. The moribund and soon to be entirely worthless sport of tennis is in desparate need of players like Dent - players who have enough conviction and courage to approach the net, unlike the baseline clowns and dirtballers who pollute the top 100 in modern times.

One of Taylor's most recent twitter comments:

taylordent81

I promised Jenny I wouldn't talk about politics on my Twitter. Talk of a new stimulus bill hurts my brain and I need to vent, but I shouldnt

First one I've seen about politics, although it may not be very indicative of his overall stance since it's not a particularly uncommon view these days. That said, it sounds like he's at least somewhat of a fiscal conservative.

Baghdatis: I can't believe it's not butter.

That's because, in his case, it probably was butter. Whole milk butter.
