Ugly? No way! It was so exciting...well done David!!! Great match...Gonzo just made 2 errors at the end...but I think Ferrer always had the edge from the 2nd set onwards.
Ferrer led 4-1, 5-2 in the final set...great match. :)

Well done Ferru! :yeah:

Great match, both fought their balls out. Gonzo minibrainfarted with that DF at the end.

Very enjoyable and entertaining match. Adding more pop into the shots was a good way to compensate the wind effects. :yeah:
Good comebacks from Gonzo after 5-2 and also in TB going with all or nothing attitude but that DF to give a MP was awful.

Gonzo was on fire in that first set hitting clean winners from both sides, but Ferrer is the biggest fighter on the tour, he didn't throw his toys out of the pram. He stepped in the up in the second set and able to expose Gonzo's forehand. The third set, Gonzo played well in the game that Ferrer was broken when serving for it, but kudos to Ferrer he didn't drop the bundle and kept at it, a double fault in the tB cost Gonzo.

Just hope Ferrer can make it competitive tomorrow.

What the hell did Gonzalez do at the TB? He was playing much better at the end of the third set.

Thought Ferrer might have blown it having lost the 3rd set lead, but credit to him for finally putting Gonzo to the sword (with the help of a df at 5-5 in the tiebreak). Many believed that the match could go the distance, so good that it lived up to its potential. :yeah:

Best of luck to Ferrer, tomorrow. :help: Thinking that somehow he won't be able to extend Rafa as he did in last year's final.

Gonzo's at his best when he is in the backhand corner slapping off forehands, therefore to get to his weaker backhand, then you have to go the forehand with angles to expose the backhand that Ferrer did in the 2nd and 3rd sets.

Therefore he exposed the strength to get to the weakness.

Hahahaha, you might get that.

Good comeback from Ferrer. What an adjustment he made after losing the first set, shortening the points and looking to come into the net and not letting Gonzalez use his off forehand as much. I didn't know he was as capable of executing a plan B as well as that.

Good match overall, in particular the long game in the third set at 4-2, I think.

Quite clear actually,

The problem for opponent is that on a given day Gonzo kills everything on FH,running forhends was great some time ago.

today was not "the day"

Well if Gonzo is on fire, then just admire the shots flying for winners. The first set he was hitting high quality BH's, which isn't always the case, but as I said earlier Ferrer is the biggest fighter on tour and changed it up, to get Gonzo out of his rhythm and it worked.

It was a fun last set, but the double fault was what killed it for the Chilean and Ferrer's mental strength.

yes, that is correct. Playing crafty tennis to expose Gonzo's backhand is what Ferrer had to do, and did. "Exposing the Gonzo forehand" is NOT what Ferrer did.

You can expose a strength to a desired result, Fed's forehand foibles are a classic example of this.

Yes, I could have worded it differently, but I can back up my points thanks.

Absolutely, total choke. Ferrer just stood there and looked at Gonzo misfiring.:cuckoo:

What a fight back from Ferru after the first set where Gonzo was playing "lights out" tennis. Not sure many other plays would have hung in there and made a comeback like that in the 2nd set.

Way to go Ferru.......................

Gonzo wasn't winning so he didn't choke, he merely brainfarted.

Pathetic choke at the end by KGONzalez

Probably he didn't want to be schooled by Rafa on clay, and he made a strategic tank in the last 2 points of the TB. :p

Do well in Roma now Feña :fiery:

Since when did you need to have a lead to feel nerves and choke?

Of course you can buckle at 5-5 in a deciding tie break, another retarded comment from you. :retard:
