Like every other time. Say for instance that easy 1/2 hr semi-final in AO, followed by a week's rest, followed by another easy one hr final to win AO.

This is an absolute Godsend for Nadal. He gets a day of rest smack in the middle of the tourney, and avoids the most dangerous guy in the draw to him. He should cruise past Davydenko/Stepanek, will likely take out a fellow Spaniard in the final, and should arrive in Rome as fresh as a daisy.

Nalbandian didn't withdraw because he was scared. It's been confirmed for a while that he has a hip injury. His coach says that it will affect him for most of the year.

From my perspective as a Nadal fan, I would prefer much more than that match would be played. I always want Rafa to play against his worst opponents... and I bet Rafa would also prefer to play against him, to demonstrate than he's better than Nalbandian.

I canīt undestand people talking about Nadalīs luck. Obviously, sometimes the contrary gets injured, and that happens to al players, but other times, it is Rafael the one injured (remember Rotterdamīs final against A. Murray).

Nevertheless, Nadal is playing very well this tournamente (better than in Montecarlo) probably due to the heat so the ball bounces higher, and I think he could have beaten Nalbandian easily.

Seeing as Fat Dave shat himself when he had 5 points to beat Mugboar on a hardcourt a few weeks back, no wonder he's running scared on clay.

I'm guessing XXXXXXL underpants don't come cheap so Dave decided to pull out of the match rather than have to stock up on new undergarments.

fat dave was never going to challenge nadal anyway. nadal will probably work harder having a practice session tomorrow than he would have done playing fat dave.

Watch how Nalby has been playing. No doubt there's something in his hip, but calling that "injury" is a huge mountain of liquidescent bullshit. If it was another opponent in the QF, he would probably try. Now he keeps his HtH, while really losing nothing.

actually i was not talking about the final

i meant rain delays.....

i was thinking of federer had 5 days off with a walkover at 4th round while others like nadal and djokovic had to play their 3rd match over 5 days.....

Nadull's luck is incredible. I wish I had 1/10 of his luck.

Well, Argentina was 10 times luckier than him in the past Davis Cup: They played (almost) all rows at home, when they played against UK in London, they didn't have to face Murray, or Davydenko (against Russia), and of course, not to mention they didn't have to face Nadal in the final and Ferrer was already playing like shit by that time... still they couldn't win the whole thing. So it isn't always just about luck. :)

Nalbandian is obviously a guy that is capable of stepping up and playing big-time tennis when he's motivated. Having said that, I do not agree with those that think he is somehow a huge threat to Nadal on clay. Nalbandian has won four clay court tournaments in his career, none of them at the Masters level. How is that supposed to make him extra dangerous to a brilliant clay court player like Nadal? Seems like I've even heard some folks suggest that he might be a threat to Nadal at the French. If you think Nalbandian's fitness is an issue in three set matches, how is he going to hold up in a best of five against a player like Nadal?

Nobody is unbeatable, and that includes Nadal on clay. But until Nalbandian actually plays and beats him on clay, any talk of how Nadal should be worried about the matchup seems a little silly to me...

Nalbandian has pulled out of Rome. And since he isn't defending very many points, I wouldn't be too surprised if he pulls out of Madrid and RG as well. I don't think they will meet on clay this year. If they don't meet on clay next year, they probably will never meet on clay.

Excellent post :yeah: You are talking to a brick wall, these posters are just hoping against hope that Rafa will lose or get injured. They don't give a toss about tennis.
