Who would you say when they really open up have the biggest forehands in the game. This can include mindless ball bashers, its all about ultimate pace.

I'd go for..

1-Gulbis
2-Monfils
3-Verdasco
4-Gonzalez
5-Berdych
6-Federer
7-Djokovic
8-Tsonga
9-Cilic
10-Murray

Ive probably missed a few though.:o

Grosjean striked a 181km/h forehand during 2001 Davis Cup Russia vs France against Kafelnikov. He can't be discluded from the list of having the biggest forehand in the game IMO.

Gonzo has the biggest forehand. Roddick's had some massive pace once upon a time....now it's garbage.

I think Del Potro hits some really beasty forehands, and pretty consistently as well.

Nearly as ugly as the man himself.

It is quite unorthodox and quite unpleasant to watch technique and other wise. In such contrast to his smooth backhand.

McAlistar is asking a valid question about (shock, horror) actual tennis, I don't see why you're being so dismissive and it seems you've misunderstood him anyway.

As for big forehands, the obvious choices are Blake, Monfils (on the rare occasion he lets rip), Gonzalez and heck, even Karlovic when he can keep it in court.

He means when he opens up and flattens it out, as he does against Nadal. He obviously doesn't mean the loopy top spin forehand that often lands short.

Not sure why i'm seeing Monfils get mentioned here....I know he has that vid where it claims that he smacked a forehand 120+ mph....I think it's BS but whatever. I've never seen him hit one regularly that would comparable with a Gonzo, Verdasco, or Blake forehand.

Yes, when they open up with the shot. That's what he said. Murray's is pretty big when he flattens it out. I doubt it's in the top 10 biggest, but he can certainly crush it when he wants to.

He hit two forehands against Melzer that clocked around 180 kph, you wont find many bigger. His general forehand may be loopy, but when he goes for it its a pretty huge shot.

Many pro tennis players can clock forehands up to 180kph given the right timing and moment of impact. I even know high school kids who can pull of 175-180kph forehands. It just depends on whether commentators are willing to talk about it or media wants to display it on screen or not. Murray is a top player, so in general they would talk about or display it when he pulls off a big one. You're a fish in a little pond. You need to play and watch more tennis, don't just concentrate on the top players - broaden your vision.

spot-on. besides, he'd belong in the top tier me thinks. saw him goofing around with Rasheed today at RG, and he spent like 15 mins hitting nothing but flat shots off both wings. his flat fh was just plain impressive, never saw something like that in live. most impressive stuff i saw today hands down.
