Must have been a real off-day for JCF. :o

Never mind. He had a ridiculously difficult draw anyway.

Should be able to get a WC for Rome qualy draw.

Geez, Igor was really trying to kill every ball hitting them as hard as he could and the funny thing is almost all of them went in the right spot. JCF clearly has some motivation issues, at some points he did not even bother to run to a reachable short balls just a couple of meters away. He went ahead 3-0 in the second set with himself hitting some hard and heavy FHs, but Kunitsyn kept swinging with his racket and got the next 5 games. Of course his hands got wooden when he was serving for the match and he got broken, but he played the TB as he did the rest of the match not giving Ferrero a single chance to do something. If he continues in the same rhythm as today and his aim remains intact he will beat Nalbandian too.

Thanks for that. Will be interesting to see if Kunitsyn maintains this form although he probably just had a good day today.

No doubt you'll be crying and hiding as always.

Ferrero losing to Kunitsyn on clay is comparable to Ljubicic losing to someone like Dabul on carpet.

Isn't gonna happen.

For those of you who haven't seen the match, the crowd was non-existent today. I mean it was literally empty. As in I-fart-and-the-player-misses empty.

Rubbish troll attempt.

Kunitsyn ranked #38, had an 8-3 record on clay last year and nearly beat Chela in MC last week. Dabul ranked #106 and plays nothing but clay events all year.

Ljubicic already achieved a straight sets loss to Granollers indoors. That's enough to prove he's the greater mug.

Well, Kunitsyn CAN produce that type of performance (I've read that he hit his marks) every now and again (like 1 in 10), so in some respects Ferrero might have been unlikely. However, on the flip side, it is further proof that, realistically, he is no longer up to par, and shouldn't be considered for WC into Masters draws that some fans here, given a chance, would award to him on past merit...

i still think ferrero would warrant a WC on most clay tourneys simply on the fact that he'd sell more tix than most potential wc's... former #1, former FO champ, just on the right side of 30, he's just won a clay tourney, solid fan base and, besides, kunitsyn's on the up atm... so unless there are some solid reason to give wc's otherwise then yeah why not...

I was doing Live streams threads for the whole year in 2008 but I kinda gave up on that cause I am watching most of the matches on TV channels and sat streams. Here it is from the last year but I don't know if any of those are working this year at all.

http://www.menstennisforums.com/showpost.php?p=6962129&postcount=1

mms://i2catvserver.i2cat.net/tvc_inter is still working but I have no idea if they are broadcasting it this year too.

Yeah, his name is potentially still marketable based on retrospect, of course. But really he has been in the doldrums for the last 5 years (?)...that is a LONG time in tennis terms. The game has changed a fair bit since then, and there are plenty of new kids on the block, and a few other struggling (but younger) players who are capable of drawing huge crowds (e.g. Baghdatis).

:)

Yes, he is out of his depth at this level, but he worked hard to get a ranking this high (not down to isolated results), and, in that respect, deserves his chance at the high life. You only need to wait another 6 months before he will probably fall back down to his true level. ;)

I'm quite surprised at this. I always thought Kunitysn was only decent indoors? Anyway, I still wouldn't mind seeing Ferrero get WC's for the other clay events, since this might be his last year playing and he will draw fans

yeah, Igor beat Safin in Moscow final and then again they said he played the match of his life
not bad if you can play this proverbial match more often
but I guess he will fade away next match

Really disappointing result here, but I'm glad to hear that Igor played the match of his life out there and JC didn't just screw up. Saying that, it seems like with every loss thats the excuse, 'the other guy was unstoppable'. Congrats to Igor, but I think I for one expected more from Barcelona since he just emerged from his last tournament with a win. Its really his motivation thats been scaring me for some time now:(
