Yes, the guy is a fruitcake, and is not on a particularly good run of results/form...but what is he doing in Barcelona playing only doubles? :spit:
I find this a little strange for a top pro. Sure, we see it when a guy is coming back from injury and maybe just wants to "test the water" by playing doubles a couple of weeks before making a singles comeback (Mahut most recently tried this, for instance). But what is Jurgen's game? It's not like he made any effort to enter the singles (original sign-up, wildcard request or last-minute decision to play qualies). Is he injured?
Thoughts?

You said it.

Jurgen.
Sorry, couldn't resist... ;)

Yeah but Jurgen hasn't had an injury lay-off this year to need to ease himself back into competition. So that doesn't answer my question. ;)

well then delete the "coming back from injury" bit. Just my best guess though.

Jurgen Melzdown strikes again.
Did you see his last couple of matches? That would pretty much explain why he doesn't want to play singles :-)

Actually I've just noticed that he was down for qualies in Barcelona...and then withdrew. :cuckoo: Doesn't look like he wants to play matches, for whatever reason. I'd guess that maybe he is just honouring a joint prior decision to partner Knowle in doubles.
Case closed. :) Unless anyone has some concrete information they'd be kind enough to share.
