Faneuil Hall is a must visit if you're going to Baahhhston, Mary. And in October, Salem, MA is also a must-visit. New England is known for its folklore ghosts and witches and warlocks roaming around old cities and grabbing at your feet when visiting creepy cemeteries.

My whine of the day: I broke a nail below the quick which means I have to superglue it until it grows long enough for me to rip it off without bleeding to death. :(

10-11-2006, 06:38 PM
Yea I've been to Salem before, so I doubt I'll go this time now that I'm 21 and can do "adult" things. Plus I do'nt know how keen the party animals I'm going with would be about going up there since they already live in Mass and probably have been there 39439843 times. But um I'm definately doing a duck something. :p And I want to see Cheers I just thought of that. I didn't watch teh show, but ya know.

Salem :rocker2:!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Sorry about your nail, I HATE when that happens :( I usually put a bandaid on it til it's long enough to rip off

Mary, do not bother with Cheers. Everyone I have ever known who has gone says it's a real disappointment and a waste of their time.

Oh really? Maybe I won't then. Especially since I never even saw the show.

Yea, everyone always says it's just a bar. Like it's not like there's anything cheers-y there or anything (that's my understanding). I think when you're only there for 2 days or so, there are a lot of other better ways to spend the time ;)

Have dinner in the North End, best pizza I've ever had there. Mike's Pastry is a MUST.

 My sister lives in the North End... maybe it's time for another visit! It doesn't even matter which pizza/pasta place you go into, it's going to be delicious - it's like the Little Italy of Boston.

Mmmm, now I'm hungry! Warmed over leftovers for lunch. Enjoy your trip Mary!

you mean Little Italy in NYC? I haven't been there but i'm sure it's similar yes :) I've only actually been to the North End once to eat food, and Mike's Pastry a couple other times when I worked in Boston and took the subway right by the North End and my mom had back surgery so I was a good daughter and brought her some goodies. It's sad how many years I lived in Boston and how little I saw because of how big a pain it is to get around there :(

They're saying on Fox News that apparently this area of NYC is unrestricted flight area - meaning that a small private plane or copter can fly up and down there at will with no requirement to notify the authorities or the FAA or have a published flight plan.

I'm sorry but in this day and age that's absolutely unacceptable!

Deboogle!.
10-11-2006, 08:33 PM
Well this was the last building before the river and it's the river area that's unrestricted. It does seem odd and the guy explaining it wasn't all that clear or helpful but it does seem odd that there are pockets like this in a city like NYC. the guy who was talking about it said that for years he's been saying it was just a matter of time before there was an accident, all it takes is the plane's engine to go or something like that and this kind of thing happens.

and the US just brought treason charges against someone for the first time in ages. |:

Incidentally, only in NYC would you have a building where the first 20 floors are a hospital and the other 30 something are fancy condos.

I was watching it a bit until Oprah came on and I just don't understand how that guy even got into the city. Like, I get that it isn't terrorism but like how is any plane allowed that close to Manhattan now? It's just ridiculous. And I'm not one to like live in fear or any of that shit, but all of us over here dealt with all that shit five years ago and now to see that people are just slipping by and getting planes back into the city (even by accident) just makes it all seem like... I dunno. It just makes me mad that someone can slip by even by mistake.

There are rumors and reports that the plane may have swerved to try to avoid hitting another plane, but again unsubstantiated. Also possible is any sort of mechanical failure that would've caused the plane to go haywire :awww:

gosh that is sad :( why are people just so very stupid?!!?!

It's all confirmed that it was Cory Lidle's plane and that the other person who was in the plane who died was his instructor (apparently the Yankees hated that he flew and always requires their players to have instructors with them if they fly), so it was just an awful accident on a coincidental date, but still sad and probably avoidable just like many of these tragedies. It was just goosebump-inducing to see flames coming out of the side of an NYC skyscraper :awww:

I mean, the Civil War was in essence fought over state sovereignty (states meaning the various states in the US), it's a fundamental aspect of every nation in the world.

It depends on your view of globalism whether it would be bad. Personally I do, because there are too many different cultures and kinds of people and all those things to all be ruled under one law.

It's not so much about the world being equal, because certain countries or certain whoever would have more power in the ICC, just like the UN Security Council, not all the members, has the real control in the UN.

Personally I am cynical and though we have our problems, I believe that the US has among the best system in the world, particularly our legal system. Yes it has its flaws but I'd still prefer it to anywhere that I am familiar with, and quite frankly, I dont want other countries to be able to be able to do something. What if our army or our soldiers do something that is legal under US law but not under this ICC? What happens?

It's confusing, obviously.

I have proof that FIVE DAYS of nothing but ESPN and sports can drive a woman absolutely INSANE (even if she's surrounded by lovely tennis boys). But it's funny to hear them all arguing about their NFL fantasy teams (they spend HOURS on this, it's like MTF for tennis players).

4 more days, but Horia leaves tomorrow morning

yeah, but like, I don't know enough about it either, not even after reading a little bit about it...but why is losing state sovereignty bad  should I konw this? like, if there wasn't just one big power, and the whole was basically equal and had the same laws, would that be bad? I don't know anything :bigcry:

I know absolutely NOTHING about the ICC..but I think losing state sovereignty would be almost equal to losing your identity (as an analogy) so NOOOOOO!!!! :p

I'm having one of the worst days ever. I'm horrible at tennis. School is just bleh. Everything annoys me. I think I am depressed. I am overly sensitive and there are a few people I must use all I have to stop myself from smacking them or saying something I shouldn't. Maybe I have anger managment problems. Certain people, I swear, make it their goal to bother me. I don't know what to do about anything.

Been awhile since I posted a Sue story but decided to do it on this thread as I am trying hard not to post much this days:) I said trying;)

Anyway this is to all of you to remind you to be nice to your parents and also that some of you will have children of your own one day:lol:

I came home late yesterday and Nate is in the driveway sweeping all the pine needles that have fallen ( horrible thunderstorms yesterday with a hairy drive into work). Nate sweeping without being asked I think? Hmmm what has he done or what does he want ;)
Sure enough I roll down the window and he comes over and greets me profusely. Mom how was your day? So Nate, I ask, what do you need darling?
Oh sorry, he says, Dad told me to butter you up :D Well when you go into the house don't be alarmed at the huge package FedEx just dropped off :D
( Sigh) Turns out he spent some of his Bar Mitzvah money( dad found out before me but at the time Nate needed a credit card number) on building his own computer. If I tell you that it looks like a damn jet engine please believe me. All I could do was laugh and request that I get his old computer:lol:

Moral: be kind to your mother and don't give her a heart attack.

( Sigh) Turns out he spent some of his Bar Mitzvah money( dad found out before me but at the time Nate needed a credit card number) on building his own computer. If I tell you that it looks like a damn jet engine please believe me. All I could do was laugh and request that I get his old computer:lol:

The website says it's not affiliated with Bloomies. It seems their makeup is always one dollar. For that price, I would try a lot of it too.
