Congratulations :woohoo: What are your plans for after all the schooling? Teaching or just writing music etc.

Maine is cold, work is exhausting as it is very busy and also very sad lately. The kids are great and hubs is :inlove: I think I am quite lucky overall. Since Nate's bar mitzvah things are quiet here. Just our jewish holy days but that goes fast. This was the first year I did not invite folks here for the New Year's dinner or go anywhere except late for drinks. Typically we break the fast( which I don't really do) with a large portion of the temple members but this year we are going out for dinner with some good friends. I am just too crazed to do any cooking;) And I did not want to deal with a lot of people this year.

I will apply to some teaching jobs... we'll see what happens. It's hard to plan these things. So few jobs are available, and I do have other options (many of them piano-related). I also need to decide how strongly I wish to stay in NYC. But for now, first things first -- getting the degree. ;)

I am doing okay, long week and I'm glad it's over.

I called Justin earlier to see how he was doing. He's back home in So Cal now (yay, we are in the same time zone) and he asked me if I had started working out, because he has a tiny bit. Dammit, I thought I had about two more weeks to laze around eating bad food before I had to start this program. He and I are going to 'come back' together, so to speak. I gave up playing tennis over the summer because I am out of shape and I have gained weight. I have a deal with JG that if I get off my backside, get in shape, lose the weight and play again, I get to hit with him next year at Indian Wells when he comes back. So I have to walk or something tomorrow... :o :o

Your Korean dinner sounds yummy. When's the next one, perhaps I'll join you. ;)

I'm so-so. I went out for Korean BBQ to celebrate my roomates b-day today, and due to a mix up, our party was split up and seated at 2 different tables! I really pigged out though, so that was fun!

I'm still waiting for some documentation so that I can leave for my volunteer position and the wait is getting me down. I also rented out my room, so I'm going to be moving all my stuff out this weekend and I'll share with one of my other roomates until I can finally leave.

Yup, glasses can be really expensive, especially if you have crappy eyesight (I do). And that's about the normal price range for a pair of good frames - as long as you're happy with them!

I like Burberry stuff. My current glasses are Nicole Miller (and by current, I mean I got them in December of 2004).

I am not a trendy glassy guy, so I had no idea about all this Burbbery stuff until the lady told me about it. She basically tried to brainwash me into thinking that's what "cool young hip guys wear today". Now, I am not a trendfollower, but that particular pair of frames looked good. ;)

They are graduated lenses so no lines. My lens are quite warped so along with my astigmatism I am near and far sighted. Plus I have no depth perception ( which is why my idea of being a surgeon disappeared rather quickly in med school  ) so I also have prisms along the sides of the glasses. Expensive. I really wanted to have laser surgery done but that would not correct everything and I would still be paying a fortune for glasses. Did you know that some folks as they get older can actually have their sight improve? Hubs was near sighted for about a decade and now no longer needs glasses.

Work work and more work  But I love it honestly. I had the opportunity to go when I was in the service. You can take military planes overseas for only $20 dollars then but could get bumped by higher rankings. I was a doc running the department at the time and just did not want to chance getting bumped and returning late. That would have been a no no or so I thought. I probably could have dealt with it fine. Friends went and had such a blast. Visited New Zealand as well. :( $20 dollars- can you imagine? I could just kick myself. Oh I absolutely love hearing from people who love their jobs!! :D Hold on.... are you a GP? Do you work at a hospital??
And... $20 for a trip to Australia? That's absolutely INCREDIBLE! If only all flights were so cheap  Hopefully you can still come one day!

And yeah, I'm feeling a whole lot better! The doc got me to have a chest and sinus x-ray and they found some mucus and such in the sinuses but the chest looked clear. He put me on Nasonex which is really helping making the drip down the back of the throat go away. Phew. It also turns out I'm anaemic which totally explains the tiredness and such. I've always had normal haemoglobin and they've never checked my iron stores so I'm glad we did those tests to find out!
The annoying thing is if the sinus thing doesn't go away I might have to see an ENT and have a CT scan of the sinuses as there's a possibility that my sinus 'pipes' are small and that's why it doesn't drain away... Hopefully it doesn't come to that!!

And guys not to worry. You are young and have lots of time to figure out what you want. I sort of always knew I wanted to be a doctor. Exactly. Real late at night, wouldn't be surprised if the guy driving (knowing him from college :o) was drunk and/or high

Guy had graduated from Rice, was working for Chevron and going to Rice's Business school. He was a good guy too, everyone in our dorm knew him (since we were all together for all 4 years) and even though he was one of those "popular types," he was nice to everyone. The driver... not so much.

Hm, Adam, try resizing them, sometimes making them smaller can help. I don't use photoshop, I imagine that has some high-tech tools that might help, but paint shop pro has like a sharpen tool and stuff that sometimes helps.

LIGHTER MOMENTS
He includes an intriguing scene of Italy defender Marco Materazzi eagerly waiting for Germany captain Michael Ballack in a tunnel under Dortmund stadium after the match to swap jerseys.
Materazzi, who in the final against France five days later got embroiled in an incident with Zinedine Zidane that led to the French captain's ejection, tries to console the dejected Ballack with hugs and kisses on the cheeks.

That's how I replied so quickly, iSpied you. What's going on with you?

J. Corwin

I'm good too! I spent most of today doing indoor activities because it was drizzling outside and I didn't get to play my tennis match today. So I plopped myself in front of the TV and now I'm feeling a bit guilty so I'm doing some last minute studying before heading to bed. :p

Are you going somewhere? Sorry, I have a crappy memory.

Bagelicious
10-02-2006, 06:12 AM
It's been raining here (Toronto) too, it's extremely unimpressive. The weather has been really uncharacteristic for this time of year. Do you have a test tomorrow - Is that why you're studying?

I don't think I've mentioned it in this thread. I'm meant to be volunteering in Northern Canada, but I'm waiting on some paperwork which is at least 2 weeks later than I expected it.

I had to rent out my room, so someone else is moving into it tomorrow, and I'm going to share with one of my roomates until my documents arrive. Hopefully it'll be soon!

Edit: I just realised why this iSpy thing isn't so cool after all. I don't really need everyone on MTF knowing my personal business!

J. Corwin

What are you volunteering for? Hope your papers arrive on time, though I never completely trust the mail. Make sure to call the people you're expecting the documents from.

Oh. my. God.
Today at school, in year 10 lecture, they told us about this scholarship program which Assist (an organisation) offers to one student from a private school in NSW/VIC. It's a 10 month, fully-funded scholarship to an independant school in the United States. They pay for tuition and boarding so all I'd have to pay is a $6000(USD) + spending money.
This is like... the best opportunity EVER. Sure, a billion people will go for it but I mean, someone will have to get it so I am SO going to apply for it. IMAGINE...

IMAGINE...
*runs off to write application*

Can you go to any private school or are there further stipulations?! That's awesome! Good luck hun.

Well if you're going to get all that for less than they normally spend on you, it doesn't sound too bad. Good luck with the application! I really have to get to bed, so I'll talk to you guys later. :wavey:

Nice pic, Noelle! :)

So do you know the X-man well, or are you two just feigning comfortableness? ;)

Um, well... feigning is such a great word! :D

I am just taking a breath or two before I leave from work. I have dance rehearsal later this evening. :sobbing: It's so much fun but I have no more free time. :p

I forgot my glasses at home!! :sobbing: Good thing my roommate works here and comes in later, or I would be in trouble. I'm already starting to get a headache!

Jace....I didn't realize Nip/Tuck actually started a few weeks ago. I thought last week was the season premiere...not episode 4. So, I'm a little lost on the story line. Maybe that is my sign that I shouldn't start watching! :p

Amish Country it looks like, some guy took the one-room schoolhouse hostage and then shot it up. That one wasn't by a student, at least. :(
